Ash-Shu'ara 30: (Moses) said, “even if I brought you a clear sign?”

Moses says this: Even if I have brought you something manifest – even then? he said. That is: because Allah Almighty made me a prophet, even if I show you some of the miracles of our Lord, will you throw me into the dungeon even then, he says. When Pharaoh got angry and said to Moses (peace be upon him), I will let you rot in dungeons, then, understanding that Pharaoh would not turn to the truth and would not obey Allah, Moses (peace be upon him) – earlier, since Allah Almighty knew this, He says to Moses: Put your hand into your bosom and draw it out. He looks and sees his hand shining like light.

Throw your staff to the ground, He says. When it becomes a dragon, he begins to be afraid. He runs away. Do not be afraid, He says. Take it in your hand. It becomes a staff again. So, it is with these miracles that you will go to Pharaoh. In that sense, because He knew he would not turn to the truth, Allah Almighty has Moses (peace be upon him) practise these miracles beforehand. Yes.

What are we saying? Understanding that Pharaoh would not turn to the truth and would not obey Allah, Moses (peace be upon him) – Allah Almighty saying to Moses (peace be upon him): Go now with My signs to Pharaoh, that is, to that people of wrongdoers – where Allah Almighty says go with My signs, by the signs here miracles are meant: go to Pharaoh with miracles. If he does not believe, show him My miracles, He said. Indeed, since Allah Almighty knew that Pharaoh would not believe Moses, He gave Moses (peace be upon him) miracles. Thereupon Moses (peace be upon him) said to Pharaoh: Even if I have brought you something manifest? That is, even if I show some of Allah's signs?

The signs here mean miracles.
