Translation

Upon this, they threw their threads and staffs. They said, “by the might of the Pharaoh, we will surely be victorious.”

Tafsir

The magicians said by the might of Pharaoh. But if there is any power, it is the power of Allah. Whenever a work is to be undertaken, it is undertaken in the name of Allah and Allah's name is mentioned. Bismillahirrahmanirrahiym is said.

Instead of remembering the might and power of Allah, the magicians took Pharaoh as their god and threw their ropes and sticks, saying, 'By the might of Pharaoh! They said, 'Surely we will be victorious.

These ropes and sticks thrown by the magicians looked and moved like snakes and dragons. When Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' saw this situation, he felt a chill.

Just as Allah will not hold anyone to account for what He has not made known, Allah will forgive people for the sins they committed in their ignorance, if they turn back and repent after they come to know the Truth. When the magicians realized that the miracle that Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' would show them was not magic, they turned back to Allah, not caring about the torture and torment that would be inflicted on them.

What is said in the video

In Surah Ash-Shu'ara, verse 44: Thereupon they threw their ropes and their staffs and said: By the might of Pharaoh, we will surely prevail. By the might of Pharaoh. Who is saying it? The magicians. And since "by the might of Pharaoh" is falsehood itself, it will now sink into the depths of the earth. Falsehood. The magicians said: By the might of Pharaoh. Yet if there is any might, it is the might of Allah. Whenever any work is to be undertaken, it is undertaken in the name of Allah and the name of Allah is mentioned. One says Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Instead of mentioning the might and power of Allah, the magicians took Pharaoh as a god and, saying "by the might of Pharaoh", threw their ropes and staffs.

They said: We will surely prevail. These ropes and staffs the magicians threw appeared in the form of snakes and dragons and were moving. Seeing this, Moses almost shudders. Just as Allah Almighty does not hold anyone accountable for what He has not made known, the sins people committed through their straying in the time of ignorance, when, after knowing the Truth, they turn back and repent, Allah forgives these people as well. Indeed, the magicians will understand that the miracle Moses (peace be upon him) will show is not magic. Ignoring the torment and suffering to be inflicted on them, they will turn to Allah.
