Translation

(Moses) said; “No! Undoubtedly, my Lord is with me and (Allah) will guide me.”

Tafsir

When Hazrat Moses heard some of his people saying, "We have been captured now, for fear of death," the meaning is as follows. If only we had not followed you and come here, we would not be in the situation of being slaughtered or persecuted by Pharaoh, so Hazrat Moses, in order to allay their fears, told his people that they could never catch us. For I have not taken any action on my own, I have acted by Allah's command. Surely Allah is sovereign and victorious over the worlds. He will show me a way out. I believe that my Lord is with me.

But what does Moses say? "Never," he said. That is, they will not catch us. My Lord is surely with me. He will guide me, he says. When Moses saw his people scattering, he tells them: gather. He climbs up to a high place, onto the top of a rock. There he says: gather. Allah is with us. They will never catch us. And Allah Almighty reveals. Well, strike the sea with your staff, He says. We will come to that anyway. Moses said, "Never, my Lord is surely with me. He will guide me." That is, since He brought me out from among Pharaoh's people, brought me out by night, told me to set out, and since He will not leave me alone, He will guide me.

He will save me. Because he has put his trust in Allah. Allah is with him; no one can defeat the one who is with Allah. Upon some of Moses' people saying, out of fear of death, "Now we are overtaken," it comes out in this sense: If only we had not followed you and come here. That is what we are explaining here anyway. We would not now be about to be killed or oppressed by Pharaoh. So, to (?) their fears, Moses told his people: They will never catch us. Because I have undertaken nothing of my own accord. I acted by Allah's command. Surely Allah is sovereign and victorious over the worlds. He will show me a way out, for I believe that my Lord is with me, he says.
