Then, We revealed to Moses, “hit the sea with your staff.” At once, it cracked open; (twelve paths opened and) each part became like a great mountain.
Tafsir
Allah knows the conversation of Musa (Moses) with his people. Because Allah is aware of everything. That is why He revealed to Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' to strike your staff into the sea. In fact, even without striking the staff into the sea, Allah opens a way for them. The miracle is not in the staff. Allah wants to show us something. If we can see these things, we can see and sense Allah's wisdom on us.
When Allah (swt) says, "Strike the staff into the sea," it is because He attributes every action to a cause. It is to show that nothing can happen out of the blue, and that those who rely on and trust in Allah, and take action, will have their deeds done for a reason. That is why he told Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' to strike your staff into the sea.
Hadrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' struck the sea with his staff and the sea split open, creating twelve compartments in the sea. The waters separating from these pores rose like mountains on both sides and provided a passage for Hazrat Musa and his men. In this situation, Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' started to move on the sea roads with his people. Seeing this, Pharaoh rushes forward with his army.
What is said in the video
...he says. Yes. And then, in Surah Ash-Shu'ara, verse 63, thereupon, to Moses: Strike the sea with the staff. Yes. "So We revealed," it says. Yes.
How beautifully Allah Almighty narrates past history, bringing it to life before our eyes as if it were today.
Indeed Allah, our Lord, is present and seeing everywhere. And although His verses were sent down 1438 years ago, 39 years ago, we see their aliveness, their vitality, and in how they make us live it as if today, the miracles in our Lord's verses, we do see them. What does it say? Thereupon We revealed to Moses: Strike the sea with your staff. When he struck, the sea split at once. Twelve paths opened. Each part became like a huge mountain.
The Children of Israel were twelve groups. Twelve tribes. For these twelve tribes, twelve openings open up in the sea. Each tribe sets out from its own opening. That is, it sets out from one opening. Allah Almighty knows what Moses (peace be upon him) said to his people. Because Allah is aware of everything. For this reason He revealed to Moses (peace be upon him): Strike the sea with your staff. In fact, Allah would open a path for them even without the staff striking the sea. The wonder is not in the staff. Allah wants to show us some things. If we can see these things, we can see Allah's wisdom over us and sense it.
Allah Almighty saying "strike the sea with the staff" is His tying every matter to a cause. That nothing happens out of nowhere, and that surely the deeds of those who, relying and trusting in Allah, take action, works done with effort, will come about: to show this is its purpose. For this reason, to Moses (peace be upon him): Strike the sea with your staff, He says, He reveals. And Moses (peace be upon him) strikes the sea with his staff, and the sea splits. In the sea a path of twelve openings comes about. The waters parting from these openings rise like mountains on both sides, giving Moses and his men a passage.
Just like passing through a valley between two mountains. Of two mountains. This only by Allah's miracle. That is, the water will rise here like a mountain and open a path. Here it will rise like a mountain and open a path; there it will rise like a mountain. The waters between these two paths will never fall and will by themselves have risen like mountains — not by themselves, but by Allah's miracles, by His knowledge. Yes. And Moses (peace be upon him) strikes the sea with his staff, and the sea splits. In the sea a path of twelve openings comes about. The waters parting from these openings rise like mountains on both sides, giving Moses and his men a passage.
Then Moses (peace be upon him), together with his people, begins to advance along the paths in the sea. Seeing this, Pharaoh rushes forward with his army. He too plunges in after them. In order to (?) them and destroy them.
