They said, “we are worshipping idols and we are going to continue worshipping them.”
Tafsir
His people understood the meaning of his question. That is why they told Ibrahim that we worship these idols and we will continue to worship them.
So your aim is to take us away from our idols and take us away from them? Don't tire yourself in vain. We are not going to leave them. They said we will continue to worship our idols.
What is said in the video
We, in Surah Ash-Shu'ara's verse 71: We worship idols and we will go on worshipping them, they answered. They too. His people, however, understood the meaning of the question Abraham (peace be upon him) asked. Therefore they said to Abraham, we worship these idols and we will go on worshipping them. That is, is your aim to separate us from our idols and to distance us from them? Don't tire yourself out for nothing, they say to Abraham. We are not going to leave them. We will go on worshipping our idols, they said. Because if a person, when he made a covenant with Allah Almighty in the address of Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, gave his covenant as a denier, even if the two worlds came together, these will never believe.
