Tafsir
(Say, 'Which is greater in testimony, the testimony of Allah on His Messenger or your testimony? Allah is the witness between you and the Prophet that our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the true Prophet.
The Qur'an was revealed by Allah to the heart of the Prophet (PBUH) to warn everyone wherever it reaches. Allah (swt) says in one of His verses, "We do not hold anyone responsible for that which We do not make known." Therefore, everyone who hears the Prophet and the Holy Qur'an is responsible for believing in Allah. In the realm of property, people who are in possession of their free will in order to live the covenant they made (in Kalu Bela) and to keep themselves as witnesses to their surroundings and to Allah, and those who seem to be irresponsible to their creator, when they complete their lives in the world and pass on to the Hereafter, they will be asked to account for what they have done in the Court-i Kübra.
(Or do you bear witness that there are other gods besides Allah? Say, "I do not bear witness to that.") People leave Allah and worship what they have made with their own hands, to satisfy the desires and wishes of their ego, which is of no use even to them. In fact, every human being knows with his intellect that he too is not omnipotent and that he too was created by Allah, but those who believe in what they do with their hands, carry them with them, and go even further and act immodestly, forgetting Allah, say to those who seek help from them, "I am free from what you worship, and I do not bear witness that they are Allah. (He is only one Allah) there is no God but Him. All property belongs to Allah. In another verse, Allah (swt) says, "Feintawallaw fegul hasbiyallah'u la ilaaha illa hu aleyhi tawakkeltu vehuve Rabbul arshil azim". O Prophet, even if people turn away from you, even if no one is with you, even if they leave you alone in this world, say that Allah, the Owner of the heavens and the earth, is sufficient for me.
What is said in the video
Say: which thing is greater in testimony? To whom does He say this? To the Prophet. Against whom does He say it? At the times when the idolaters worshipped idols. They hoped for help from idols. And what does Allah Almighty say? Say: which thing is greater in testimony?
Say: Allah is witness between me and you that I am the true prophet, He says. That I am the true prophet, Allah is witness between me and you. Yours cannot bear witness. They cannot speak, cannot understand, cannot comprehend. Because they are made of wood and stone, carved by people's own hands. They are things Allah created. So in terms of testimony, when my Lord says that I am a prophet, when He testifies, is His testimony more valid, or those idols of yours, invented, made with your hands and worshipped, understanding nothing, if they testify for you, are they greater in testimony, He says.
Will you never use your minds, He says. Allah Almighty puts it so beautifully in the noble verse. What did He say? Say: which thing is greater in testimony? Say: Allah is witness between me and you that I am the true prophet. Who will be witness to whom for you? This Quran was revealed to me so that I warn with it you and everyone it reaches. Yes. We have explained revelation. It is Allah Almighty, who is beyond time and space, conveying through verses to the heart of the Prophet (peace be upon him). It is His giving the verses by way of communication, firmly, perfectly placing them. It was not Gabriel the Trustworthy who placed them.
Gabriel the Trustworthy receives from Sidrat al-Muntaha. The surahs that Allah Almighty had placed in the heart of the Prophet, Gabriel the Trustworthy would also recite. Yes. That is why the Prophet said: I loved Gabriel the Trustworthy's recitation very much. so that I warn with it you and everyone it reaches, it was revealed. What was revealed? The Quran.
Or do you bear witness that there are other gods alongside Allah? He says. Do you bear witness? Now let us mark one more point here. This Quran was revealed to me so that with it, with it, you and everyone it reaches I warn. Here, how beautiful Allah's words are. There is the noble verse: I do not call to account anyone of a generation I have not made it heard. The words are so orderly: to everywhere it reaches with Allah's verses. It does not say: look, I brought the Quran, all people are responsible. Everywhere it reaches.
Or do you bear witness that there are gods other than Allah? Say: I do not bear witness to that. Of course it is not enough. (?) A person of sound mind, every mind knows that a Lord created him. So people get up and with their hands, with their carvings, with invented words, invented idols, invented shapes, if they make a god, people, people of sound mind laugh at them. Yes. Say: I do not bear witness to that. He is only one single Allah. The One who created the worlds, who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them, who owns them, is one single Allah. He is only one single Allah.
I am certainly far from what you associate with Him, He says. "I am certainly far from it," tell them, He says. Yes.
Can we understand here how valuable the human being is? How valuable the human being is. Yes. What does it mean? Where does the value of the human being come out in this verse? Our Lord, throughout the Noble Quran, without in any way using force on the beings He created, force, and without presenting them with a fait accompli, left human beings and jinn free in their own will and spoke with them. Let us say He spoke one to one. I do not deny my words, He spoke one to one. This one-to-one speaking, (?). Yes. When He created us in the realm of Lahut and said, "(?) am I." Plus when He made a covenant with us.
He spoke one to one. But now let us come to this. Normally we are in the realm of the unseen. We have not seen such a thing. Because it was closed to us. What does this resemble? We recite the declaration of faith. What do we say? Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. And ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu. Muhammad is His servant and messenger. That is what we say. Now, witnessing is only bearing witness having seen and known it. So how can I bear witness to something I have not seen? But you say Allah Almighty commands this. Fine, Allah Almighty commands it.
He says: say it like this. So here, is it something we have not seen that Allah Almighty fastens with witnessing? There it is: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. Where do you bear witness? When you were created, Allah Almighty, who stood before you, when He said "I am your Lord, We are your Lord, it is We who created you," when you said yes, when you affirmed Him, He makes you bear witness to that. Actually (?), you carry out His command; in reality you have seen. All people, the people who will come from our father Adam until the Day of Judgement, all saw, and what do those who enter Islam say?
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. By making you bear witness in a realm of the unseen, is He making you witness to something you have not seen, to the unseen? Actually He makes you bear witness to what you saw. But when we came from there to this world, since He brought us to a world where His Essence is not seen, He says: bear witness to what you saw before. This is a realm of the unseen. Renew your faith, He says. Renew your faith. How shall I renew it? Using my mind within the characters in me, since I know that my Lord exists and that there is no god besides Him, in that eternal barzakh, so to speak, at the address "Alastu bi Rabbikum", the covenant I gave to Allah Almighty in a realm of the unseen, with my own characters, within my faith, I renew my faith. What exactly does it resemble?
Those who go to Mecca and become pilgrims, who raise their hand to the Black Stone: Rabbana atina fi'd-dunya hasanatan wa fi'l-akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhaba'n-nar wa adkhilna'l-jannata ma'a'l-abrar. Ya Azizu ya Ghaffar, ya Rabba'l-alamin. When those pilgrims raise their hand to the (?), it means: my Allah, in the realm of the hereafter, I too, am upon the covenant I gave You in the barzakh. Be my witness, you say. You say "Allahu akbar" to it and raise your hand. And you say: I have come to visit You. Those who cannot go there, who cannot go there, kiss the palm of the pilgrim's hand. The reason: my Allah, since my covenant (?), I could not go there, but to the hand that saw Your Black Stone, Your right hand, that is, Your House, that saw that stone, I too renew my allegiance, you say, and you kiss it.
You renew your allegiance. That is, you pledge allegiance. Just like this, Allah Almighty too, the declaration of faith, in that eternal barzakh, the Allah Almighty you saw, in this world, unseen, with the declaration of faith you pledge allegiance and bear witness to Allah's existence. Yes. So Allah Almighty does not make you bear witness in vain to something He has not shown, that cannot be seen. Now, here, how valuable the human being is, we understand; it means that He addressed us directly, He speaks with us. He speaks. Since He is hidden, He speaks with His words, with His verses. If you reform your nafs and rise in Allah's religion through your worship, with manifestations, He manifests to you with His Essence.
If you go further and enter through the door of ilm al-ladun, then He gives you by inspiration His knowledge too. You enter the state of scholars of His knowledge by inspiration. If you go up to an even higher degree, if you reform your nafs more, you reach the state of the mujaddid who comes once every hundred years. You reach the state of the qutb who comes once every two hundred years. Yes, those too, of course, among people, coming once every hundred or two hundred years, are one person each. In this case, it means that in this world too, when a blow back is struck, when one breaks the states of the nafs, all the way to the places where we were first created, until reaching them, you can see the doors open.
For Allah Almighty there is no (?). Here is a great mercy He has granted to people, a great door of opportunity, while they are alive. In this case, before the oneness of Allah Almighty, a person truly sees how helpless he is. Well now, before the greatness of Allah Almighty's (?) with people, despite creating you in helplessness, His addressing you directly and speaking, making His word known to you, before this, of the human being's (?) in being created as a human, we see how great it is here. Yes. And although Allah Almighty, if He wishes, is able to destroy whomever He wishes, He uses compulsion on no one, and does not destroy by His own wish and will whenever He wants.
But Hodja, so many peoples were destroyed? They themselves asked for it. Their prophets showed them miracles. They said to Allah Almighty: if You show us this, we will believe in You. In this case, even though He showed them those miracles, they still did not believe the prophets. So in this case Allah Almighty destroyed them. They themselves asked for it. Allah Almighty, who in no way drives people to destruction by His own wish, who does not destroy them and does not wrong them, what does He say in the noble verse? We do not wrong souls. You wrong your own souls, He says. Yes. So, within human freedom, how great a rank the human being has with Allah Almighty, He tells us here with the noble verse.
He says to them as follows. Is their testimony higher, or the testimony of your Lord who created you? Yes.
Well then, which thing is (?) in testimony?
Allah's witnessing over His prophet, or your witnessing?
That Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the true prophet, Allah is witness between you and the Prophet, He says. Allah is witness between you and the Prophet.
As far as the Noble Quran reaches. Everyone, to warn everyone, it was revealed by Allah to the heart of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Now the meanings go so deep that here, it was revealed to the heart of the Prophet, from there it was conveyed to us as the Quran.
Many books were written by people, conveyed to people, but of many of them (?) remained.
As for the Quran, it was revealed to the heart of the Prophet; since he is one who tasted death, he himself is also alive. He himself is also alive. Allah Almighty, who revealed the Book to his heart, the untouched state of the Book until the Day of Judgement, that not a single letter in it would suffer distortion or be distorted, with our Lord saying "We sent it down, until the Day of Judgement it is We," both by keeping alive the prophet into whose heart He sent it down, and that He will make His Quran heard by people as truth, together with him, until the Day of Judgement, He informs us. What beautiful verses. Yes.
Allah Almighty says in a noble verse as follows: We hold no one responsible for anything We have not made heard, He says. Yes. So everyone who hears of the Prophet and the Noble Quran is responsible for believing in Allah. Can you interfere with my freedom? Then where is the responsibility in this? If I want, I go where you say; if I want, I do not. True, true. He left you free in your will, in your will. But that you have an Owner, that one day you will taste death, that if you act against what that Owner said, He will punish you, but that if you do what your Owner who created you said, He will (?) you, He tells you. Now you are free to do as you wish.
Lakum dinukum wa liya din. Yes. Your way, your religion to you; my religion and my way to me. You are free. But because we were created as human beings, as the noblest of creatures, from our Lord, because of our creation in the quality of being (?), and by His giving us partial free will and endowing us with the finest mind, endowing us with feelings, with hearts, with ears, with eyes, with all things, endowing us with feelings, toward Allah Almighty who created us as the noblest of creatures, in your partial free will you perceive that you are free, but do you claim that your Owner will one day call you to account?
Although we live freely within a state's laws, and see ourselves as free, we forget that in fact that state's laws are a yoke on our necks. If that state's laws were not a yoke on our necks, they would not catch us when you go against those laws. So although your Lord left you free in your own will, do you forget that His commands are a yoke on your neck? Then, then, according to the noble verse in which He says "Every soul will taste death and finally your return is to Me," one day, in the realm of the hereafter, which is true, at the Supreme Court, Alaysa'llahu bi ahkami'l-hakimin, in the presence of Allah Almighty, the Judge of judges, we will be called to account.
But non-Muslims, those who deny, see that place as very far away. And they say: who has gone and come back?
They never want to use their minds. Yes.
They know, they know they were created by a god, they know they were created by one Allah, but (?) Khatama'llahu ala qulubihim wa ala sam'ihim wa ala absarihim ghishawatun wa lahum adhabun azim. Even in the realm of the hereafter, although they saw Me, because they were waiting for the Lord in their own imagination, they turned their backs on Me. My beloved, do not mind their denying you; in their time they betrayed Me too, He says. So in this case they stopped up their ears, had veils drawn over their eyes. They had their hearts sealed too. You cannot make the dead hear, He says. Now these are the living dead, whose hearts (?).
Yes.
So everyone who hears of the Prophet and the Noble Quran is responsible for believing in Allah. Everyone. Why? The heavens and the earth. What is between them knew the remembrance of their Lord. If Allah Almighty, willing that His Essence be known, created the human being leaving him free in his will, if these heavens and the earth, what is between them, this whole world surrounded by the Throne of Allah, was created by Allah Almighty, if there is no other god besides Him,
if the Owner of these worlds, through prophets and books, has informed people of the situation, has informed them, yes, in this case all people are responsible before Allah Almighty's command.
People in the visible world who hold partial free will in their hands, at Qalu Bala, so that they live by the covenant they gave and hold themselves witness to those around and to Allah, and those who seem not responsible to their Creator, when they complete their lives in the world and pass on to the hereafter, at the Supreme Court, in return for what they did, themselves, the account in themselves, this account from themselves will be asked, in return for what they did. Yes. In return for what they did, they will be called to account. They themselves. "Woe to me," the verse says. When they wake up and the books come before them: what kind of book is this?
Everything, small and large, has all been written. Yes. Mithqala dharratin khayran and mithqala dharratin sharran too have been written. There is no escaping this. Ah. You can be saved in one way. From your sins, look, you can be saved in one way.
If you obey Allah, people, because (?). With tears, repentance to your Lord. If you draw near to Allah with your heart, turn back from the sins you committed, turn to taqwa, if the worship you do keeps you from evil, if in good deeds you compete, if you work for people's good, if you keep away from strife, from spreading corruption on earth, from gossip and backbiting, from lies, so to speak, if you keep away from adultery, gambling, drink, if you truly cast these out of your heart for Allah's sake, and just as people enter ihram. What does ihram mean? You say: I am going to Allah. In the world too, from the feelings of the nafs, within your own being, in this way, he says: my Lord, I too am coming to You.
I have now entered ihram for You. If you turn to taqwa, Allah Almighty covers your sins. There, you are saved from this. He will no longer even throw those sins of yours in your face. Such a Lord we have.
Is this hard? Doing what we have said.
People sometimes say to one another: hey, are you not human, brother? Do you have no human conscience at all?
Well, if you probe your human conscience toward people, why do you not probe it toward Allah Almighty?
So Allah Almighty wants to see you honoured. Because He created you the noblest of creatures, He gives you a value above His creatures. Why do you trample His value within your own personality? Will He not one day ask you to account for it? He will. So do nothing you cannot account for. Do nothing you cannot account for. Yes.
Or do you bear witness that there are other gods alongside Allah? He says. Alongside Allah.
Say: I do not bear witness to that. People, leaving Allah and associating partners with Allah, worship what they made with their hands, to satisfy the wishes and desires of their nafs, things that are of no use even to themselves. They are of no use to themselves either. Never mind, they are not even aware. A tree, a stone. A stone.
Here, so to speak, a word that (?) (?) said comes to my mind. (?) reminds me of Umar. Umar fears responsibility so much, fears it so much that the one in authority, before Allah Almighty, is so bound by the religious ruling, knows the verses so well that trembling with fear of our Lord: my mother, he says, I wish she had given birth to a stone, he says; my mother, I wish she had given birth to a stone. He holds back so much before Allah Almighty and fears Him so. Umar would refrain from climbing onto a high stone, lest it seem he had raised himself. Among people, even though he was tall, he was tall, it is said, he would walk about, so to speak, in such a gentle and humble manner.
Yes.
So, in the face of the greatness of the value Allah Almighty has given people, that people cannot express their duties toward Allah Almighty is truly saddening. Yes, our Lord created us incomplete. He created us knowingly. Knowingly. Because He gave a part of His Essence, He willed that His Essence be known through the human being. And about the Prophet, Süleyman Çelebi says: I took his essence as a mirror for My Essence. If He said "I created to see My Essence in his essence," if people were created from a part of Him, and these people created as (?), these people, despite being created so honourable, people not knowing their own place surely grieves Allah Almighty too.
He created people to see them honoured. But since He also knew that some among them would rebel, a word from Us has remained, He says: paradise and hell. So for those who turn their backs on Allah, We have prepared hell. And that is an evil resting place, He says. Yes. Or do you bear witness that there are other gods alongside Allah? Allah Almighty says. Say: I do not bear witness to that. The Prophet (peace be upon him). I do not bear witness to that. Why does he not? Because every person of reason, from a power that created the worlds, with (?) idols, with this and that, people from things of no use even to themselves, asking for something, points to unreason.
People, leaving Allah, associating partners with Allah, with what they made with their hands, of their nafs to satisfy the wishes and (?), they (?) things of no use even to themselves. In fact every person knows with his mind that it too has power over nothing, that it too was created by Allah, yet saying "it is my lucky charm," those who believe in what they made with their hands and carry them with them, carry them, and those who go even further and behave indecently, forgetting Allah and expecting help from these, those who expect help, to those who expect help say: I am free of what you worship.
What do some say?
I saw my forefathers upon this. That is why I continue on this path. I do not believe what you say. In fact he worships his own nafs. He uses his forefathers as an excuse. The reason: because it pleases his nafs. It had pleased his forefathers' nafs too. Therefore, since Allah's commands weigh heavy on his nafs, using his forefathers as an excuse; according to the noble verse "Have you not seen the one who deifies his nafs," people deify their own nafs and never come near Allah Almighty's religious ruling. Some say: this is my lucky charm. They take mascots. These, from tongue to tongue, to lead people astray, two-legged taghuts fallen into Satan's trap, and those who follow Satan's footsteps, (?) the mascots in their homes.
(?), those who carry them saying "it is my lucky charm," those who say "it brings me luck," distancing themselves from Allah in this way, Allah Almighty's (?) over the human being, and forgetting that the human being, what he wished from Allah Almighty, will live by the destiny he wished, as if living a life outside his destiny, not from Allah but from those mascots, from what they carry in their hands, poor people hoping for help. See how nicely Satan deceives people. How nicely. Do you know who these people are? I am a witness to them. University (?) people.
Yes. Those who carry mascots with them in this way, saying "it is my lucky charm," and behave very rudely. Yes. May Allah reform them. And may He grant us a good understanding.
In fact every person knows with his mind that it too has power over nothing, that it too was created by Allah, yet saying "it is my lucky charm," believing in what they made with their hands, those who carry them with them and go even further and behave indecently. Forgetting Allah, those who expect help from these, to those who expect help say: I am free of what you worship. I do not bear witness to these being Allah.
He is only one single Allah. There is no god but Him. The ownership of all dominion belongs to Allah. Again say: I am certainly free of what you associate with Him. Yes. Again, in a noble verse, Allah Almighty says as follows: My beloved, say, He says: even if all people turn their backs on you and leave you alone, is Allah, Owner of the heavens and the earth and the great Throne, not enough for me, He says. Yes.
