Translation

If a calamity should befall you, there is no one other than Allah to remove it. If Allah gives you a blessing, there is (also) no one (to take it back from you). Allah is All-Powerful.

Tafsir

If a calamity befalls a person, there is no one except Allah who can remove it from him or prevent it. If Allah has willed good for a person, there is no one who can remove it from that person. Therefore, with this verse, Allah (swt) is addressing all created human beings: O mankind! Your Lord is one God. Turn your faces away from Him and do not seek help from the creatures. Turn to Allah, the Owner of all things. Trust in Him alone and take Him as your guardian. For Allah is all-powerful. There is nothing that is beyond His power, and nothing is hidden or concealed from Him.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-An'am, verse 17 If harm touches you, none can remove it but Allah. If He gives you good, none can take it back either. Surely He has power over all things. If our Lord, within our destiny, is to give us good, Allah Almighty within our destiny, is to give us harm, among created beings there is no created being who can turn it back.

If He lets some good touch me too, within my destiny, no one among created beings can prevent it either. What does this mean? It is our Lord — what kind of person we are, to ourselves, to those around us and to Allah Almighty, (?) for us to know — testing us, what kind of person we are, with the misfortunes and the good things He gives — testing us. Yes.

Sometimes We test you with your lives, sometimes with your wealth, it says. A world of testing. Whoever wins this test attains salvation. He celebrates that victory. In the Hereafter.

If harm touches you, none can remove it but Allah. If He gives you good, none can take it back either. Surely He has power over all things. Yes. So, O man, use your mind. Use your mind. Do not say: this is my luck.

Do not go here and there, expecting help from Ahmet, Mehmet, a tree, a wolf, a bird — do not expect it. Do not open your hands and expect help from the saints either.

They always asked from Allah. They became friends of Allah. You too, ask from Allah. In this case people, without knowing, fall into shirk. I went to such and such a place and prayed there. And that prayer of mine was accepted. Whereas within your destiny Allah will give you that anyway. If you see yourself that way, you see it as coming from that, not from Allah. And (?) you fall into sin. So know every- thing as from Allah, worship none but Allah, hope for help from none but Allah.

If a misfortune is to touch a person, there is no one but Allah who can lift this misfortune from this person or prevent it. If Allah has willed good for a person, there is no one who can take it away from that person either. So in this verse, with this verse Allah Almighty, addressing all created people: O people! Your Lord is one God. Do not turn your faces to others than Him and expect help from created beings. Turn to Allah, the Owner of everything. Trust only in Him and take Him as your guardian. Because Allah has power over all things. There is nothing beyond His power, and before Him nothing remains hidden and concealed. He is such a good companion, such a good support, such a good guardian, it says.

Such a good guardian. Yes, now when I say such a good guardian, to my mind a couplet of a saint comes. He says: O Allah, everyone has someone, I have no one; O Someone of all someones, be my someone, he says. Perhaps you won't understand this; some do understand, and it says this: O Allah, everyone in the world has relatives, a mother, a father, a spouse, a paternal aunt, a maternal aunt, a paternal uncle, a maternal uncle. I, he says, have nothing in the world. I have no relatives or kin. Well, he says, O Allah, who is the guardian of these people, of those who have relatives, O Allah, who is the Owner, you be my guardian too, he says.

Yes.

So: trust only in Him and take Him as guardian. Because Allah has power over all things. There is nothing beyond His power, and before Him nothing remains hidden or concealed either.
