You will see that most of them have close friendships with the disbelievers. Wretched is what their evil desires prepare for them (in the hereafter)! Allah will be wrathful towards them (for what they have done). They will remain in torment eternally.
Tafsir
This verse refers to hypocrites and those from the People of the Book who are against Islam. These are the ones who appear to be Muslims, but their hearts are with the kuffar and they show closeness to them because their hearts are with the kuffar. (Whoever befriends the kuffar is like them), according to the verse, these are the ones who pity their souls. Woe to the souls of those who appear to be Muslims for what they have prepared in advance for the Hereafter in the realm of property, as a result of their preference to live like them in the realm of property, envying their friendship with the kuffar or the kuffar's friendship with the polytheists.
The hypocrites who make friends with the disbelievers by appearing to be Islam among Islam, turning their backs on the Verses of Allah and forgetting the Hereafter! And those who incite the disbelievers and polytheists against Islam! Ka'ab ibn Ashraf from the People of the Book went to Makkah to gather an army against the Muslims and joined the polytheists there, and they fought together against the Muslims in the battle of the Trench, taking the hypocrites with them.
How evil is that which they prepare for their souls in this world for the Hereafter. Allah will wrath against them for their evil deeds. In the Hereafter, they will be in torment.
People who think they are irresponsible in this world, who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day, at the moment of death, before they die, when they are at the end of their rope, when the doors of repentance are closed, Allah will show them the Hereafter. At that moment they will wake up like waking up from sleep. But they will continue their journey on an irreversible path, and after the final accounts are settled, everyone will be given all the provisions for the Hereafter that they prepared in their worldly life. Blessed are those who attain salvation there, and woe to him who will be tormented in the Hereafter.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 80: You see many of them befriending those who disbelieve. How beautifully it puts it. That those who disbelieve befriend one another. Why do those who disbelieve befriend one another? Why? The hearts of people who drift away, who move away from Allah, are restless and scattered. They are under stress. They look for supporters like themselves. And when they see those supporters, they become friends with one another. You see many of them befriending those who disbelieve. How evil is what their nafs has prepared in advance for them, for their life in the hereafter, it says.
What their nafs has prepared for them in advance, that is, for the hereafter, what it has prepared is so evil — what is it preparing? Doing the things Allah has forbidden, preparing the burden of sin, removing the burden of good deeds, acting against Allah's commands, drawing supporters to their side, luring away those who walk on Allah's path, they are people who so that they can live in peace in this world take sides with one another. Although they seek peace by taking sides with one another, within this partisanship, since they are outside Allah's verses, since their own reason is deficient — and we will say our reason, our reason is deficient — because of mistakes against one another, they also become enemies of one another, and so, while seeking peace, they fall into the source of unrest. Into its source.
Yes.
Allah will be wrathful with them in return for what they did. They will remain in torment forever. What does it say, look? Allah will be wrathful with them in return for what they did. Yes.
Everything has a punishment. Everything has a recompense. Did Allah Almighty, who created these worlds, create man without responsibility?
So Allah Almighty, of all people's deeds, the recompense of an atom's weight of good and an atom's weight of evil, on the Day of Judgement, at the Supreme Court — Eleysallahu bi-ahkemi'l-hakimin — our Lord, the Judge of judges, will settle everyone's account without wronging anyone, and will give people in full the recompense of what their two hands earned. In this verse, the hypocrites and those of the People of the Book who take a stand against Islam are described. These are people who appear as Muslims, but since their hearts are with the disbelievers, show closeness to them. According to the verse that says 'Whoever befriends the disbelievers is like them', these are people who wrong their own souls.
Yes.
The souls of those who appear Muslim, in this material world, with the disbelievers or envying the disbelievers' friendship with the polytheists, preferring to live like them — as a result of this, the things they prepare in advance for the hereafter, how evil they are!
Being enemies of Islam and siding with the hypocrites, deifying what Allah created, (?) and the One who created it forgetting, people bound up with what He created, surely in advance for the hereafter what an evil provision they are preparing. By appearing Muslim among Islam, turning their backs on Allah's verses, forgetting the hereafter, the hypocrites who befriend the disbelievers, and also stirring up the disbelievers and polytheists who take a stand against Islam, against Islam. Indeed, Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf of the People of the Book, to gather an army against the Muslims, went to Mecca and they joined the polytheists there.
Being with them, and taking the hypocrites along too, at the Battle of the Trench all together they fought against the Muslims.
Do you know what happened to you?
At the Battle of the Trench they come with elephants too. With elephants.
So they besiege for about a month.
Before that, the Prophet (peace be upon him) holds a consultation.
In many narrations too, let us say it without interruption. Sentence by sentence. Some want to stay in Medina. Those who could not fight at Badr want to go outside Medina and fight. So the Prophet puts on his armour and finally decides to fight outside Medina. Thereupon those of the Companions who said 'let us fight outside Medina' regret it. 'O Messenger of Allah, we regret it, do as you see fit,' they say. The Prophet says: once a prophet puts on his armour, he does not take it off again. Thereupon they hold a consultation. Salman the Persian says — 500 years old, blessed, very old — 'O Messenger of Allah, I say,' he says, 'what if we dug a trench?' 'O Salman,' he says, 'I was thinking the same thing.' They dig the trench.
At that trench (?) there are the mosques of Uthman, Umar, Ali, uh, Abu Bakr — they are there. Before those places were concreted over, in '78, those places their own historical state still preserved. We saw those places like that, together with the trenches. Later they concreted them over.
So they besiege for about a month. After a month Allah Almighty sends a storm, a gale, rain. In darkness where eye cannot see eye, they scatter in ruin and leave. Yes. So these, against the nafs, how evil are the things they prepare while in this world for the hereafter. Allah will be wrathful with them in return for the evil things they did. In the hereafter they are in torment forever. People who, while in this world, think themselves without responsibility, who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day, at the moment of death, before they die, when the soul reaches the throat, when the doors of repentance close, Allah Almighty will show them the hereafter.
At that moment they will wake up as if waking from sleep. But continuing the journey on a road of no return, after the final accounts are settled, everyone's provisions prepared in worldly life for the hereafter will be given to him in full, without anything missing. How blessed are those people, those who attain salvation there. Woe to those who remain in torment forever in the hereafter. Yes.
