“And Allah is the One Who I hope will forgive my mistakes on the Day of Judgment.”
Tafsir
Allah, the Creator of life and death, will make people taste death after He has made them witnesses against their own souls. On the Day of Judgment, on that day of reckoning, Allah will resurrect people and hold them accountable for what they did in the realm of property.
Allah (swt) has created human beings incomplete and faulty. With his imperfect creation, man will surely sin against Allah (swt). If a person seeks refuge in his Lord from the sins he has committed and repents to Allah, Allah will accept their repentance. This is because people have no other door to go to or seek refuge in except Allah. In fact, Allah's purpose in creating human beings incomplete is so that when they realize their mistakes, they can turn to Allah's Essence for refuge.
If people turn to Allah with their mistakes and repent, on the Day of Judgment, they will find Allah forgiving and merciful, because He has repented for what they have done.
What is said in the video
Surah Ash-Shu'ara, verse 82 — we have come to it.
And He is the One who, I hope, will forgive my faults on the Day of Reckoning, it says. That He will forgive my faults. Don't we make mistakes in this world? Don't we commit sins? If we go to the hereafter having said the testimony of faith, if we go with faith: O my Lord, because of my helplessness, because of having lived through a period of ignorance, and because, as in Your verse too, You created us fallible, we followed our nafs and Satan and committed some sins. Meanwhile we could not ask You for pardon and forgiveness. My Lord, we did not part from You. We did not associate partners with You.
Even though, for what You gave, (?), we never forgot You. Because we did not step outside the testimony of faith. Here too we have no hope other than You. When he says 'Forgive us' — Allah Almighty, our Lord, who sent one percent of His mercy to the world, has kept ninety-nine percent of it there, reserved to Himself, so that He would not in any situation subject us to torment and suffering; He kept it for Himself. Except the great sinners; they too will surely enter Hell, but they will not suffer very great torment there. Whatever his punishment is, just that much. The light of faith will protect him from the fire.
Yes, and He is the One who, I hope, will forgive my faults on the Day of Reckoning, it says. That is, it is Allah. Allah, who created death and life, after making people witnesses against their own selves, will make them taste death. On the Day of Resurrection, on that Day of Reckoning, Allah will resurrect people and, in the great realm, call them to account for what they did. Allah Almighty created people incomplete and fallible. With his incomplete nature, man will surely, against Allah Almighty, commit sins. In a verse Allah Almighty says: If you had never committed faults, We would have destroyed you and in your place created servants who commit faults, says our Lord.
Why does He say this? That there is no god but Allah, that Allah Almighty did not create a being equal to Himself — and the human, to whom He gave a part of His spirit resembling Himself, so that this human, with peaks of the nafs, with fame, renown, pride, arrogance, ego, grandeur — with such whims — does not oppose Allah and (?) — what does Allah Almighty say? When, because of the sins you have committed, you know your helplessness and repent, We accept your repentance and turn the sins you have committed into good deeds, He says. Here, David too — Allah Almighty calls out to David. O David, how do you know Me?
O my Lord, he says. I know Your Self as the Creator, and my own self in helplessness. Now you have known Me, He says. Yes. We, as a likeness of our Lord, a part from Him — what does He say? I breathed from My spirit, He says. From My spirit. We were created as a part of it. Because of this creation of ours, our Lord is the Creator and we are creatures, the created. So we are the most honored of created beings. Why? Because He gave from His spirit. No other created being has the spirit of Allah Almighty. Yes. If a person takes refuge in his Lord from the sins he has committed and turns to Allah in repentance, Allah accepts the repentance of these people.
Because people have no other door to go to or take refuge in besides Allah. Indeed, Allah's purpose in creating people incomplete is that when people realize their faults, they turn to Allah Himself and take refuge in Him. So if people take refuge in Allah with their faults and repent, on the Day of Resurrection, that Day of Reckoning, because they feel remorse for what they did, they will find Allah most forgiving and possessing vast mercy.
