They say to you that they believe while they enter your side with denial and depart from your side with denial. Allah knows better what they are hiding.
Tafsir
In this verse, Allah (swt) describes the condition of hypocrites. They come to Muslims while they are not believers, pretend to be believers, and then leave Muslims while they are not believers. All they do is to obtain worldly wealth, to exploit religion in people's consciences, and to make Muslims do their worldly affairs by pretending to believe in Allah and hiding behind Allah.
Allah (swt) says to such people that Allah (swt) knows better what is hidden in their hearts. Nothing is hidden or concealed in the sight of Allah, for Allah has written down for Himself the states of His creation and the intentions of people, and He knows what they will do and how they will behave. When people are called to account on the Day of Judgment, He will inform them of their deeds.
People who think that Allah does not see people and that no one sees the plans they make on their own or in a group in secret. They are oblivious to the fact that Allah is with them. When people who live in ignorance of Allah are shown what they have done on the Day of Judgment like a videotape, Allah's Godhood will be manifested and no one will be able to question Allah. Every soul will be held accountable for what it has done and will be rewarded for what it has done, without being wronged in the slightest.
What is said in the video
They may ask these.
Verse 61 of Surah Al-Ma'idah. Though they came in to you with disbelief and went out again with disbelief — who are these? The hypocrites. They come in with disbelief, they go out with disbelief. When they come to you they say: we believe. Yes. They say: we too are Muslims. Allah knows best what they hide. Because He knows the secrets of hearts. Allah Almighty, the secrets of hearts — look, where is this secret? While a person does not know what is hidden in the remotest corner of his own heart, and while a person, within his own destiny, does not know what will befall him one second later, Allah Almighty, of all who will come until the Day of Judgement, (?), is the One who knows what they will do.
He is the One who knows the secrets, the mystery of hearts. What is this secret? A person's own wish and desire, his own will, He writes for him as destiny, and according to those destinies places characters in them, and, according to those characters, when time and place appear, for them, for the deeds he will do, the One who creates causes for the actions — Allah Almighty knows the secrets of people's hearts. That is why we have nothing to hide from Allah Almighty. How beautifully He says it. After they come to you with disbelief and leave with disbelief, when they come to you and believe, Allah knows best what they hide, He says.
Because these, the hypocrites among people, when they came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) too, Allah Almighty informed the Prophet of their state. In this verse Allah Almighty informs us of the hypocrites' state. Though they do not believe, they come to the Muslims, appear to believe, and again, not believing, they leave the Muslims and go. Why do they come? Either they come for worldly gain, or for intelligence gathering, these people. Yes. All their occupation is gaining worldly things, exploiting religion in people's consciences, appearing to Muslims as if they believe in Allah, hiding behind Allah to get their worldly affairs done.
So Allah Almighty addresses such people. Allah knows best what they hide in their hearts, He declares. Allah wrote the states of His creatures and people's wishes for them as destiny. Since He also knows what they will do and how they will behave, nothing, hidden or open, stays hidden in the sight of Allah. Our Lord, in the pitch darkness of a pitch-black night, on a pitch-black stone, a pitch-black ant walking — even its trace He both hears and sees. For Allah the darkness of night and the light of day are one. Yes, (?) on the Day of Judgement, when people are called to account, what they did our Lord will tell them.
Now I am talking here, it is recorded on video, on Facebook and such they put it; we explain there, on Facebook and such, on video. Now if a human being can record this on video this way, can broadcast it via satellite, via Facebook, is Allah Almighty not able to freeze these rays we have reflected and show it to us? Indeed, what do the photographs we take with a camera do? The rays our face reflects are recorded there just as they are. And so our picture comes out on paper. Yes, if we do this on paper, or take it from a satellite and can show those pictures to people, our Lord's knowledge — within it — that knowledge of His our minds cannot grasp.
Our minds cannot grasp the knowledge of Allah Almighty, who created this universe from nothing. He is able to show us our lifetime in seconds in the hereafter. That is why, on the day He calls a swift reckoning, when He settles our accounts quickly, everyone very swiftly will have their accounts settled and go to the places they deserve. People who, thinking Allah does not see them, alone or as a group, secretly prepare plans and think no one sees them, are heedless that Allah is beside them. Of Allah unaware, people who live like that — tomorrow on the Day of Judgement, when what they did, like a video tape, is shown to them, Allah's, Allah's (?) becoming manifest, no one will be able to question or ask Allah.
Because whatever he would ask, he himself, through those deeds, will have done what he would ask, and will be cut off from questioning.
Called to account for what they did, without being wronged even an atom's weight, every soul will find the recompense of what it did. What does Allah Almighty say? Today everyone, as the recompense of his own two hands, what he earned — with no one being wronged, no injustice done — will be given it, He says. The recompense of what he earned.
So Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty (?) loves people very much. Allah Almighty's mercy is abundant. We say His mercy is abundant and move on. But where does the abundance of His mercy come from? It comes from His giving man of His spirit. Of His spirit. He gave man a part. And although He gave that part, although, still His mercy is not hidden in it. His mercy is in His creating people's reason deficient and creating them fallible — that is, because his reason is deficient, a person will err. And in that error a person says: my Lord, I was created deficient, deficient in reason; knowingly or unknowingly I followed my nafs.
Yesterday, yesterday too, I understood that I sinned and suffer the punishment. I have no other door to enter but Yours. There is no strength to bear Your punishment, nor any might. When you say forgive me, it is impossible that Allah, abundant in pardon and forgiveness, would not forgive you. Yes. So when we say His mercy is abundant, to reach His mercy one must enter through the door of repentance. If you cannot enter through the door of repentance, from the Sultan of abundant mercy it is a bit hard for you to find mercy. Yes.
