Al-Ma'idah 44: Surely, We have sent down the Torah. There is guidance (to the right path) and a noor (divine light). Prophets who had devoted themselves (to Allah) were judging over the Jews with it. Also, because they were asked to protect the Book of Allah, the pious ones and learned ones (were judging with it). All of them bore witness (that it was the truth). (Oh Jewish people and judges,) thus, don’t fear people, fear Me. Do not sell Our verses for a small reward. Those who don’t take the rulings that Allah has sent, they are the infidels.

Surely, We have sent down the Torah.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) has shown people the truth through the Books He has sent to them, taught them what they did not know, and created human beings as the equal of creation. Allah (swt) sent Prophets and Books to teach people how to behave and act among the created beings. The people who do not believe in these Prophets and do not follow the path shown to them are the people who have light in their hands but want to continue on their way in the darkness of the night without using it. Surely such people will not be able to find their way in the darkness of the night, and they will go astray from the way commanded.
Prophets and ascetics who were devoted to Allah used to rule the Jews with the Torah, because they were asked to protect the Book of Allah. Since there is no deficiency in the Word of Allah, falsehood would submit to the truth in the face of the truth. Had there been any deficiency in the Book sent by Allah, these pious and learned men could not have ruled over the Jewish people with the Book of Allah and shown them the ways of Allah. Except for those who rebelled in accordance with their own souls, and for the people who do not know Allah, the Book.
(They were all witnesses to its truth). With this verse, Allah has manifested His presence to the Prophets and these ascetics and made them witnesses to themselves and to the Jewish people. Since the Prophets and the ascetics are held as witnesses in this verse, it means that Allah (swt), by His being exalted from imperfect attributes and by His manifestation in the hearts of the people, is addressing the Prophets and the ascetics and saying that they were witnesses to the truth of the Book. These ascetics are not limited to that time, but they will continue until the Day of Resurrection, and they will prove to those who have gone astray that the Word of Allah is true. These ascetics are the people whose souls are satisfied. They are friends of Allah who have reached a certain level in the sight of Allah. These are the people that the Prophet (PBUH) said in one of his hadiths, "The guardian of my ummah is like the Prophet of the tribe of Israel. These are the ones who are aware of the secret of this Verse.
(So fear not men, O people and judges, but fear Allah) for Allah is the Owner of the Day of Reckoning. On a Day when everyone will be held to account for what he has done and people will have no helpers, the rewards of those who feared Allah in this world, who ruled by Allah's commands, and who upheld truth and justice in the earth, will be their helpers on the Day of Judgment.
(Do not sell My verses for a small price) In this verse people may think. If I sell the Word of Allah for a lot of money and not for a little money, Allah will not punish me for selling His Verses for a lot of money. So they may think that Allah's word can be changed for a lot of money.
If people cannot comprehend the meanings of the Verses, they will fall prey to all kinds of temptations and mischief that will come into their hearts and become restless. They are in a contradiction between the Verses. In this Verse, when it says: "Do not sell My Verses for a small price", it means that the heavens and the earth and all that is between them are Allah's creations. Allah's speech is by His essence.
Therefore, not one word, not even one letter, of His Essence cannot be equated with these worlds and cannot be compared with the created beings. All this universe and creation are of little value in the face of Allah's Verses. Therefore, Allah says that if you are deceived by My creatures, if you incline to them and change My words against them, then beware of the reckoning and the punishment of that day when you will have neither a helper nor an intercessor on the Day of Reckoning, when if these creatures were yours and you wanted to ransom them, they will not be accepted.
(Whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, they are the disbelievers). There is no being that is equal to Allah. All beings other than Allah are the creations of Allah. Every creation is in need of Allah. Allah gives life to His creatures. And if men disobey Allah and do not recognize Him as Lord, these are the disbelieving unbelievers.
What is said in the video
Of Surah Al-Ma'idah, the 44th verse.
We sent down the Torah, in which there is guidance to the truth and light. The books in which Allah Almighty sent down all His commands — which is why He says People of the Book. I have explained the situation of the People of the Book to you. Let us open it once more. What does People of the Book mean? I write books too. Authors write books too. However many books we write, within our partial mind there are deficiencies, of course. But the master of that book, that is, the owner of the worlds — in Him there is no deficiency at all. That is the master of books. The one who writes the best, in which there is no deficiency — People of the Book in that sense.
Yes, who is this? The commands sent by Allah Almighty, who is free from deficient attributes, the books. Yes, in which there is guidance to the truth and light — what is light? Something that illuminates before people, holds a light, and where their minds cannot reach, for them (?).
We sent down the Torah. The prophets who had given themselves to Allah, by it, would judge the Jews. They would judge by those verses. And they, by those verses, would obey their prophets. Because Allah Almighty, in that ruling of the Torah: obey your prophet, walk on the path he shows you, sir, and he would make our Lord's commands known to those Jews. And they, the Jews, would obey their prophets, sir, their prophets would thus have judged them. Because they were asked to protect Allah's book, the ascetics who had surrendered to their Lord and the scholars also judged by it. Yes, the ascetics and scholars, with Allah's book, both abided by it and judged by it — to whom? to people — they would explain it. Yes, they were all witnesses that it is the truth. They were all witnesses that that book is the truth.
This word of our Lord in the Quran, in the verse: the angels and the scholars bear witness to Allah's existence, it says. The counterparts of the same verses. Yes.
So then, O Jews and judges! Do not fear people. Fear Me, says Allah Almighty. Do not sell My verses for a small price. Whoever does not abide by the rulings Allah has sent down, they are the unbelievers themselves. Those who do not abide by Allah's ruling. Now, here, according to this verse, some people, some people in Islam call one who does not pray an unbeliever. You do not abide by the rulings Allah sent down, they say. If he doesn't do this he's an unbeliever, if he doesn't do that he's an unbeliever, they say. One — he judges according to one situation. Whereas such people giving such a judgment shows their own ignorance.
How so? A man has believed in the Book, he does not perform even the prayer, which is among a Muslim's obligatory duties. But he does not leave the religion of Islam. Whereas the meaning here is very different. What does it say? Whoever does not abide by the rulings Allah has sent down — that is, does not recognize Allah and His Messenger, turns his back completely. This, this is the verse. Whoever does not recognize Allah and His Messenger, turns his back on what He sent down — that is, does not abide by what He sent down, it says. The believer, or the Muslim, the Muslim too believes in what Allah has sent down.
He believes in Allah. He believes in the prophets. He recites the testimony of faith. But he does not carry out (?) commands. But he does not leave the religion of Islam. He accepts Allah and His Messenger. What does this mean?
If we give an example like this, we will understand each other better, God willing. I have trillions. This is an example, of course. I have trillions. I put them in the bank.
Because of the Eid, there was a holiday. A holiday. During that holiday
I needed something, I had to buy something. There's no money to buy it with. No money to buy it with.
If I live, after the Eid the bank will open, I will take my money and meet that need. If I don't live,
I did not live until the bank opened to get the money for that need and could not get it. I went as one in need. Or that need disappeared. That is, the thing I was going to buy for my need passed, its sale ended. What use was my money in the bank to me?
What use was my money in the bank? So in the religion of Islam too, if you recite the testimony and become Muslim, even if you don't carry out your worship, you are of Islam, you are Muslim — just as that money in the bank is not lost. You are Muslim, but your good deeds are far fewer than your sins. You did not carry out Allah's commands. But you did not go as an unbeliever. You did not go as an unbeliever. You still have an asset. That is, consider that asset, that money in the bank, your faith. Your faith. Now in this case, according to this verse, people who do not know the subtleties of the verses like this at once say: you didn't pray, you're an unbeliever, (?), you're an unbeliever; you did this, you're an unbeliever — at once they stamp the label on.
Mashallah. Yes, they are believers, fine people, but they are not in a position to pass judgment. Yes, let us read the verse once more, and after that our talk, our lesson, let us begin. In which there is guidance to the truth and light, We sent down the Torah. The prophets who had given themselves to Allah, by it, the Jews would judge. Because they were asked to protect Allah's book, the ascetics and scholars who had surrendered to their Lord also judged by it. They were all witnesses that it is the truth. So then, O Jews and judges, do not fear people, fear Me, do not sell My verses for a small price.
Whoever does not abide by the rulings Allah has sent down, they are the unbelievers themselves. Praise be to Allah.
In the forty-fourth verse, we too haven't done it here either. An equality is regarded (?). What does it say?
We sent down the Torah, in which there is guidance to the truth and light. The prophets who had given themselves to Allah. The prophets have surrendered themselves to Allah anyway. It also means that. As Allah Almighty's envoys too, as the first ones our Lord created, here, it could also be: those I sent. Because the first of the Muslims, the first of the created, but 'who had given themselves to Allah' is the more fitting word, that is why we have taken it here — we have taken it wrongly. Because the first created, and He Himself too — Allah Almighty, with the prophets, first, before even creating the spirits, made a covenant. We created them, We created the prophets, and We took a pledge from them that We would send you as messengers, He says, and We suffice as witness, He says.
There is no other created being anyway. He bears witness together with the prophets. Allah bears witness for them. In this case, of course, the prophets have given themselves to Allah; they are Allah's chosen servants.
Allah Almighty, with the books He sent to people, showed them the truth, taught them what they did not know, and created people, by their creation, as the noblest of creatures. Because of this creation as the noblest of creatures, Allah Almighty sends His word to people and holds them (?) to His being. The only reason for their creation as the noblest of creatures is that He gave a part of His spirit and adorned people with the attributes of His being. Adorning them with those attributes. Yes.
Thank you. Bless you. Our exalted Lord, self-subsisting in His being,
willed that His being be known. From His light He created Muhammad, from his light He created the universe. Then He gave a part of His spirit, and he (?). In this case people are the noblest of creatures. Above people there is no created being. There is no created being superior to people. They explain verses wrongly, you know, the verses: We made the Children of Israel superior to the worlds, it says. We made them superior to the worlds. Are the Children of Israel human? Human. Human. What are you? You are human too. Well, when Allah Almighty says I make no distinction among My servants, when He says I make no distinction among My servants, and even says I have divided the world equally among you, then here He does not go and make the Children of Israel above the worlds, the noblest of creatures.
Those who explain that then say: at that time there were such peoples, and than those peoples, I don't know what — at that time it was that people; now which people?
