Don’t you know that the bounties of all things in the heavens and the earth belong to Allah? Allah forgives those who desire (to be forgiven). Allah punishes those who desire (to be punished) and Allah is All-Powerful.

Tafsir

Allah (swt) frequently recites this verse. With the verse, "To Allah belongs the ownership of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them," it emphasizes that there is no God but Allah, that all creation belongs to Allah, that Allah is not in need of anything, and that all creation is in need of Allah, and that whoever seeks guidance from Allah, Allah will forgive him, and whoever rebels against Allah and does not recognize his Creator and does not do what He says, Allah will punish him.

So when people think about how they came into existence, they realize that they did not come into existence on their own, but that they were created by a Lord. In such a realization, even though people know that they are not capable of creating anything and that they do not have the knowledge or the power to oppose Allah, they themselves know that they are not acting wisely when they deny the Verses of Allah and disobey Him, when they disobey the Prophets by denying them, and when they oppose Allah and His Messenger. Such people become cruel to their own souls by following the footsteps of Shaytan, by being caught up in the grandeur of their ego.

Allah (swt) has always pointed to this point and explained it in many of His Verses, and in this verse He has addressed the people by saying: O mankind! The ownership of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them belongs to Allah, the One who created the worlds out of nothing and created you. Therefore, all creation is in need of Allah. Allah is kind and merciful to His creatures. He says fear Allah and obey Allah.

(Allah is all-powerful) Allah is not free from His creation. All created beings, the heavens and the earth and everything in between, are under Allah's sovereignty. In this respect, Allah is with His creatures and is the best knower of their conditions. In this respect, He is truly almighty over His creatures.

Allah (swt) has created all these worlds with knowledge. Whatever He has created, from particles to spheres, the plus and minus electrically charged nuclei in the atoms and nuclei of these atoms make a sound as they rotate around their axis. Although we do not hear this sound, Allah (swt) makes these substances recite the attributes of His Essence. In this case, Allah (swt) is symbolizing His creation by making His creatures recite His Zat and thus proving that there is no other deity other than His Zat. In addition, the nuclei in the atoms of the magnetic or anti-magnetic substances of these creations are charged with plus and minus charges, and they produce a signal by rotating around their axis, and these signals are programmed to Allah (swt), and Allah (swt) has power over all His creations by bringing them under His sovereignty.

What is said in the video

Allah Almighty, in His verse: Do you not know that whatever is in the heavens and on earth, the ownership of it all belongs to Allah? The ownership of it all. What does ownership mean? It means being the owner. Owner. I own this Quran right now. I do not. I do not. I own this mouse. Again I do not. I own these computers. Again I do not.

In fact I do not even own my doubts.

What does this mean? To be able to own something, you must create it yourself. Yet we are not capable of creating. We are the ones in need of created things. So one is the trustee of this Noble Quran. Its trustee. Of this mouse, of these computers, and of what is created in this realm, of what our Lord has created, of what we possess — as their trustee, with that authority, to meet our needs one uses them. In the end one leaves them, all of them. One leaves the body in the world too. Spirit, nafs and life together, again to the barzakh they go. They wait right until the Resurrection. At the Resurrection, then, when it is blown, at the second trumpet, when the bodies, like grass, sprout from the earth, spirits and bodies meet.

According to the verses 'when you come into My presence with a driver' and 'when the souls are paired', the body bears witness against the spirit. So the ownership of everything belongs to Allah. If we know this, if we know what this ownership is, we fear Allah; to be worthy of what He gave us in trust we try. What does it mean to be worthy of a trust? It means not wasting it, and to the One who bestowed that trust on you, Allah Almighty, giving thanks. Giving thanks. Yes, there. What does it say in the verse? Would We ever diminish the wealth of one who gives thanks, He says. In this case. So, the One to whom ownership belongs, the One to whom the ownership of all created things belongs — another meaning comes out of this: that there is no god but Allah — all that has been created, from the atom to the globe, surrounded by (?), created by a single God — all of it, to Allah, besides whom there is no god, belongs.

Yes.

Do you not know that whatever is in the heavens and on earth, the ownership of it all belongs to Allah?

They had explained the verse wrongly; we corrected that part. In the wrongly explained verse it says: I punish whom I will, and whom I will I forgive. That is not so. He punishes the one who wills; the one who wills — going outside Allah's command, the person whose partial will is in his own hands, with the decisions he made by his own free will, outside Allah Almighty's command, with the actions he carried out — the sins he has taken on become that person's sins. And this sin of his Allah Almighty, in the hereafter, asks him about — so He punishes the one who wills. Because he acted outside His command.

He did not listen to his Lord. Isn't this world realm the likeness and shadow of the hereafter? If here we act against the laws of a state and that state nabs us at once: 'You have acted against the law of this state, this is a crime' — in return for my crime, (?). Isn't that so? It is. Well, does man think himself unaccountable — this verse anyway?

So, if our Lord, at every moment, everywhere, present and seeing, watches over us, and if at every moment the angels called Kiraman Katibin on a person's shoulders write his good deeds and sins, if a person's atom's weight of good and atom's weight of evil is written, does this person think himself unaccountable? Yes. So He punishes the one who wills. The one who wills — he acted outside Allah's command. He himself willed that punishment. Again, as in the example we gave, a person kills a man. Allah forbid. Or he defrauds someone else, or commits theft. He comes before the judge, and the judge gives him a punishment.

Did the judge will this punishment? The law of that state willed it. He was punished because he acted against that law. So the owner of this state, the owner of this ownership, is Allah Almighty, besides whom there is no god.

Within this ownership He sends before people (?) His verses, His shar'i rulings — and people who act outside His ruling, do they remain unpunished? Are they unaccountable? Are people unaccountable for (?)? Are these people who think that within this unaccountability they will live as they please? If they knew that one day they will be called to account in Allah Almighty's presence — since they (?) Allah, they anyway act outside Allah's verses. Had he fully known his Lord, would they go outside Allah's word? So, the person who wills punishment for his own nafs — it is his Lord's willing, man's willing.

The one who wills — He forgives the one who wills too. Who is this one who wills? Those who carry out Allah's commands, who wish for His mercy, who want to earn Allah's good pleasure, who in good deeds compete, who do what our Lord says to do and do not do what He says not to do — such people. Yes, so He forgives the one who wills, sir, in this way. Because he carries out his Lord's word. So Allah is truly able to do all things. He is truly able to do all things. Yes.

All things He is truly able to do. Even the dust floating in the air, even the particles our eyes do not see, are within our Lord's command and power. He is not apart from anything created. That is why He is able to do all things, it says.

Allah Almighty mentions this verse often. Which? Whatever is in the heavens and on earth, the ownership of it all is Allah's, He says. The ownership of the heavens and the earth and what is between them belongs to Allah. With His verse — that there is no god but Allah, that all created things are Allah's, that Allah is in need of nothing, emphasizing this, and that all created things are in need of Allah, that whoever wishes for guidance from Allah, Allah will forgive him, that whoever rebels against Allah and does not recognize his Creator, does not do what He says, He will punish him too — this He makes known.

Yes. So, if Allah Almighty had put whom He wills into paradise, whom He wills into hell — 'Allah is Ghafur and Rahim,' they say. He forgives. Look, we hear this in our daily lives. 'Well, what can we do,' he says, 'Allah is Ghafur and Rahim, forgive,' he says. Allah is surely Ghafur and Rahim, surely abundant in reward, abundant in forgiveness, abundant in mercy — a sovereign. But if you will — if you will, if you do not will — a sovereign abundant in punishment.

Isn't that so? As in: Our punishment is severe. So, when they say our Lord forgives the (?), if they tie it to His willing, the man too speaks like this. Because He will put whom He wills into paradise, whom He wills into paradise, you know; he himself is a Muslim too, he will do what he does; Allah forgives. He forgives — but how will He forgive? As I said, abundant in mercy, abundant in forgiveness, toward people His love is immense. Truly, when people do something and turn back to His Being, He is abundant in pardon — a sovereign. Yes, but if you do nothing, and do not ask for pardon and forgiveness, do not repent and seek forgiveness, and do what you do, and then, according to the verse 'He puts whom He wills into paradise' — which is how they explain it — if you say, eh, my Lord is Ghafur and Rahim, He forgives — He is a sovereign abundant in punishment.

Yes.

They twisted the words. And people went astray. Yes. When the words were twisted, the going astray began. So if a person thinks about how he himself came into being — that he did not come into being by himself — surely they grasp that they were created by a Lord.

Nothing comes into being by itself. Nothing. Now, you see this shop; if I said it came into being by itself, you would say the Hodja has (?), has gone mad, you would say; does it get to this state by itself? So there is a master who made it. This Noble Quran was written; someone wrote it, someone made it. Not from this human hand — a (?) created around with order and regularity, such an order — although it is lifeless, in it there is reason and life, and itself, this realm, those beings arranged? What is this? If this said, I came into being by myself, could it convince you? So there is a Creator who created this order, who created this man and with knowledge equipped him.

One Creator. So what does He, your Owner, tell you? You will lend an ear a little. What does He say? Yes.

With such an understanding they grasp that there is a Lord who created them, it says. This understanding began right with the address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm. Before coming into the world. At that time when they were created in the realm of spirits, Allah Almighty's saying, I created you, His saying, I am your Lord; all the spirits there saying, yes, we were created, saying yes, saying we were created — of their having been created by a Lord. Today Darwin tries to prove that Allah does not exist, and on many television channels they try to emphasize that through the change of some animals some animals came into being.

And what does that mean? That by their own reason Allah does not exist, that beings developed themselves by changing — trying to say this, pitiful people. Fine, suppose these beings — let us suppose — developed themselves and changed and came to this state. Well, who first created that being? They demean themselves so much, they try so hard to prove their own lack of reason — it can go this far, I mean, this far. So, what does it mean, the One who created the 17,000 realms? In this world, with the lack of just one being, the balance is upset. Allah Almighty, who made the world (?), (?) them with one another.

For example, you see Africa — the animals, those animals; if those millions of animals in Africa did not exist, today grass would overrun Africa. You could not pass through it. Besides, if these animals multiply, this time their food runs out. He created lions, Allah Almighty. They will eat them. They will keep the balance, you see; (?) them. Then its bones will remain. And hyenas will come and eat those bones. If they remain with their flesh. Then there are vultures; they will clean them up nicely. And the parts not yet eaten will rot and go into the soil. They will become soil. That is, balancing all creatures, the world in a (?) way, (?) Allah Almighty created.

You — which creature developed which into itself, so that it, by itself, sir, developing, took the other form? For example, Darwin tries to prove this. Man comes from the ape, he says, from the ape.

That is, he is trying to prove Allah Almighty's verse. By saying he comes from the ape, Darwin is trying to prove Allah's word. They are like four-footed beasts going about on the earth. Right. Because it is on four feet, he tries to prove evolution from it. But this poor man does not know — though he knows, though he knows — that the people of the Sabbath, that is, the people of Saturday, because they acted outside Allah's command, were turned into the shape of apes, and that the skeletons found there prove (?) that Allah Almighty turned them into apes. Now we leave these aside. What is he actually trying to prove?

Allah's nonexistence. So he knows that Allah exists. Because he is hostile to Allah, he tries to prove His nonexistence. Now, does a person try to prove something that does not exist? Something that does not exist. For example, had this mouse not existed, how would I know about it? Had there been no such thing as a mouse. I would not even dwell on it. I would not even talk about it. If I am talking, if I am trying to prove it does not exist, I surely know of its existence. So, in the address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, their saying yes means all created beings know that they were created by a Lord. But because Allah Almighty created man very close to His Being, because He gave him of His spirit, our Lord, whom he sees as like himself, the person cannot grasp as Lord; because he waits for the Lord of his imagination, he denies Allah.

Their saying yes — Allah Almighty: even those who deny Me know that by a Lord they were created. Therefore, because they waited for the Lord of their imagination, they denied Me. Because of My very close creating, because I created very close, because I created close to My Being, Me they denied. They waited for the Lord of their imagination. So in the verse too it says: they will not see their Lord. Because there is no god but Allah, that they should wait for the Lord of their imagination and see Him. Now in this case, if the ownership of everything is Allah's, if of the heavens or (?) what is between, Allah is the owner, together with all the verses, that there is no god but Allah — the sign of it emerges; and here, within a person's own invented actions, the good deeds he has done become the person's good deeds and sins.

In this case these people — what you earned, what your two hands earned, He says, will be given to you in full today, He says. That is, in the hereafter, for what your two hands earned, so that no one is wronged, today its recompense will be given to you in full, He says. So here it is not our Lord's willing; by people doing what they will within their own will, within their own free thoughts, without being subject to any (?), without being under any compulsion, with the rulings he himself made, for the actions he carried out — with the good deeds and sins earned in return, he will be called to account.

So this is not our Lord's willing. Yes.

And this is also knowing that every person was created by a Lord. Knowing that every person was created by a Lord. Yes. In such an explanation, people know that they are not capable of creating anything, and that knowledge to stand against Allah, to stand against Allah, or power, they do not possess — and although they know it, Allah's verses they deny, and opposing Allah Almighty, the prophets they call liars, rebel against them, and with their opposing Allah and His Messenger, that they are surely not behaving sensibly, they themselves too know. Yes.

If they themselves know it, then why do they do it? So: those who follow every rebellious devil, it says. Those who follow every rebellious devil. And they are lying disbelievers, it says. Lying. Therefore, have you not seen the one who deifies his nafs? With the verses — these, with their own (?), with their pride and arrogance, their grandeur, like Pharaoh, people in that state — to deny Allah, His existence — their trying to prove its nonexistence is preparing their own nafs' destruction. Yes.

Such people, carried away by the grandeur of their nafs, following Satan's trail, are unjust to their own selves. Yes.

And Allah Almighty, constantly pointing to this point, as He explains in many of His verses, with this verse too, calling out to people: O people! The ownership of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, besides Me no other god existing, the One who brought the worlds into being from nothing and created you — belongs to Allah, He says. With His verses. Indeed every verse His Being, His Being proves. And it also shows us a way. These are the miracles of our Lord's speech, His word. Had this been (?) by a man, many words not agreeing with one another would have been found in it (?). Yes.

So all created things are in need of Allah. Right. All created things are in need of Allah. All created things. Because all — look, pay attention — in this universe all created things eat and drink from what Allah created. From the fruits on the trees,

from the plants growing in the soil, from the creatures in the seas, from the birds flying in the air — Allah Almighty gives the sustenance of all His creatures. No one is able, by himself, to bring something into being from nothing and his own need to meet. All created things. All created things are like this. Just so, Allah's (?) feeds and gives drink to all these creatures of His. No being can create anything by itself and meet its own needs. Indeed, what does it say in the verse? If you had possessed a single atom of the world, nothing would have been given to you, He says, not even a fruit's seed, He says.

The reason, He says: you created it; to create your own needs too, a (?) you would reach, He says. And I would give you nothing, He says. So all these (?) — whatever we eat, drink, wear, and all these creatures too, what they eat and drink, are all created by Allah and beings our Lord nourishes. While we cannot feed one or two people, Allah feeds the universe. Can we grasp His greatness?

It is not even possible for us to fit it into our minds. Yes. So sometimes they misunderstand the verses. For example: He has no equal. Well, of course He has no equal. Equal means a being able to do the same thing, equal to Him — that is what it means. Can there be an equal to Him? It cannot create; it needs Him. Sir, in this case, even Allah Almighty — ask people how we will see Him in paradise. Those people say: as if watching a sun, a moon — like that, in their imagination. Well, what then fell to you of His spirit? In the universe there is spirit in nothing but man, but if you go and put the spirit into cats and dogs, if the cats at home know of it — that spirit, if the cat at home knows of that spirit — then of course within the measure you imagine, by your own reason, you stretch your words.

Yes.

So a person, a person will use his reason. If he cannot use his reason, that person cannot know even his own place, even his own existence. Yunus Emre says so too. Knowledge is knowing knowledge; knowledge is knowing oneself. If you do not know yourself, he says, what kind of knowledge is this? Yes. So Allah Almighty, constantly pointing to this point, as He explains in many of His verses, in this verse too calls out to people: O people! The ownership of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, besides Me there being no god, belongs to the One, Allah, who brought the worlds into being from nothing and created you.

As I said just now, Allah is the One who feeds and gives drink to all these created things. Yes. So all created things are in need of Allah. That is, they are in need of our Lord's attribute Al-Hayy. Of the attribute Al-Hayy.

However much has been created in the heavens and the earth and what is between them, whatever has been created, it has been created in a way that needs Allah. In a way that needs Allah. But Allah Almighty is the One who does not need His creatures and is free of them, the One who is free of them. He is outside time and space. That is why He is not in time and space.

And Allah is (?) and merciful toward His creatures. Fear Allah and obey Allah, He commands — our Lord. Yes. Fear Allah, He says. And obey Allah. Obedience. Obey our Lord.

You obey your mother. You obey your father too. If you live the religion of Islam, of course. Toward your elders, your older brothers, your older sisters. Toward your maternal and paternal aunts and uncles. Toward those older than you. You obey. Well, when it comes to Allah, why are you disobedient? The real point of obedience is Allah.

Yes. If you obey Allah, you automatically obey your elders too. You will have respect toward them and love toward the younger. Yes.

Allah is truly able to do all things, He says. Allah is not apart from His creatures. Indeed, were He apart from them, created things would suffer torment. All created beings, the heavens and the earth and what is between them, are under Allah's rule. He has created nothing outside His rule. Now what does He say? Allah Almighty, in the word of the verse: the heavens and the earth and what is between them know the dhikr of their Lord. If these perform a dhikr, how will they perform it? Does a person do dhikr just out of nowhere? Let us say, how will this one do dhikr? If it says the heavens and the earth and what is between them know the dhikr of their Lord, then this too does dhikr.

Well, how does it do this dhikr? We said: magnetic or antimagnetic, all beings, created things, their matter, the molecules within, the atoms, and the nuclei within these atoms, as they spin around their own axes, make a sound. Even if we do not hear it, even if we do not hear it, (?) makes a sound. So that sound — Allah Almighty, that spinning sound, in whichever of His names He will have it remember His Being, He has it remember that. They do dhikr. As if to say: I created this too, you see. Look, there is no god besides Me. All these are for the sign of a single God.

Just like a factory's product: it brings it out and stamps its sign, its brand on it. Plus, these electrode particles, those nuclei, as they spin around their own axes, emit a signal. A signal. So all these signals are programmed to Allah Almighty. How? You pick up the phone, you say hello. You reach the person on the other end at once. With signals. Did Allah Almighty emit those signals for nothing? The universal station — our Lord too: whatever exists from the atom to the globe, their movements, wishes and desires, in any atom of the universe, to Him are given. He knows. He created all of them under His rule.

He created nothing outside His rule. Whatever He created is programmed to His Being. So He is able to do all things. Of all things the Knower. And some people say: every thing, thing. What thing, anyway? Thing. Who are these? Pitiful people whose minds cannot grasp it. You too, with words that would belittle Allah, by your own reason — when He says 'all things', which should He list, of the 17,000 realms — its, its, its, its knower, should He say? All things: I am the Knower of all of them, of all My creatures, He says. Yes, in this case, before Allah Almighty's greatness, it proves that nothing is outside His rule.

Knowledge — He created with that knowledge anyway.

Since Allah is with His creatures, He is the One who knows the states of created things in the best way. Therefore He is truly able over His creatures.

Allah Almighty created all these realms with knowledge. Knowledge. Whatever He created, from the atom to the globe, in their atoms and in the nuclei of these atoms, the positively and negatively charged (?), as they spin around their own axes, make a sound, it says. Even though we will not hear this sound, Allah Almighty, these materials, the attributes of His Being He has them remember. In this case Allah Almighty, by having His creatures remember His Being, gives His creatures His sign. He thus proves that there is no other god besides His Being. Also, in the atoms of these created things, of materials magnetic or antimagnetic, the nuclei being plus and minus, by spinning around their own axes, a signal being emitted, and these signals being programmed to Allah Almighty — Allah Almighty, taking all His creatures under wisdom, is able over them.

We have actually come here to what I explained just now. Yes.
