Oh you people of the book! Our Messenger came to you to proclaim many things that you have been hiding from the Book. And Allah forgives many (of your wrongdoings). Certainly, an enlightenment from Allah, a Book (with evident revelations) came to you.
Tafsir
O People of the Book! O people who have not accepted Islam! Allah (swt) says "Our Messenger" to prove that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was sent by Allah (swt) as a Messenger of Allah (swt) with a mission, Allah (swt) says "Our Messenger" to prove that he is the Messenger of Allah (swt). He has come to tell you and explain to you many things that you have concealed in your Book, that is, that you have changed and concealed in the Bible and the Torah. He will also forgive your faults that you have committed. That is to say, Allah says that if you repent and return to Islam and follow the Prophet, Allah will forgive you for your false beliefs, for saying that Jesus is the Messiah, for saying that Maryam is the wife of Allah, for saying that God is three, Allah says, "We will forgive you.
Indeed, a clear Book has come to you from Allah, a light. The Holy Quran has come. This is such a Book (that if it were a human fabrication you would have found in it many words that do not agree with each other), a Book has come to guide people to the truth and teach them what they do not know.
O people! Listen to the call of Allah, to His address to mankind with the Verses. Allah does not intend cruelty to people, but man is cruel to his own soul. Turn to your Lord, and be pleased with your Lord, and be pleased with your Lord, and you will receive Allah's mercy.
What is said in the video
O People of the Book! Our Messenger, to make clear to you much of what you have been hiding of the book, has come. Our Messenger, yes, Muhammad, pardons your faults. He pardons your faults. All right. That's how you heard it, that's how you came. Now the Quran, a mercy to the worlds, has come. The Prophet, a mercy to the worlds, has come. Your faults are pardoned for their sake. Indeed, there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear book, it says. Like this. Abundant in mercy, abundant in compassion, a sovereign. A sovereign. How tender He is toward His creatures.
In line with this verse, what does Mevlana say too? Our dervish lodge is not a lodge of despair, he says. Whatever you are, come again.
Yes. Come again.
Until the door of repentance closes, until the soul reaches the throat, if the door of repentance is open, "your repentance", we say. Even if you broke it a thousand times, a hundred thousand times, come again. This is not a lodge of despair, he says. Yes. Islam is the same, the path is the same. The lodge is not a lodge of despair.
Only the unbelievers lose hope in Allah, it says.
There has come to you from Allah a light, a book. So follow it. This is a mercy to the worlds.
O People of the Book! Our Messenger, many things you have been hiding of the book, has come to make clear to you. They hide them, because it doesn't suit them.
They say Jesus is the son of Allah; of Mary, that she is a wife, they say, and shamelessly they say Allah is three. Within this mental capacity they blame Allah.
Although their minds, that there is no other god but Allah, are convinced, position, rank, glory, fame, pride and arrogance, grandeur, worldly desire and ego have so covered them that, have you not seen the one who deifies his nafs, according to the verse? These, with such pleasures and amusements of a few hours, with glory and fame, with things like pride and arrogance, are those who exchange their (?) for the eternal hereafter's punishment. Now those who chase after these, and to these, as people of glory and fame, become servants and slaves, along with these, do they have minds? Can you call these a mind?
How beautifully Allah Almighty says: one Muslim is worth three non-Muslims, it says. If there were three, the Muslim uses his mind.
Yes.
O People of the Book! O people who have not accepted Islam!
"Our Messenger" means one charged with a duty, sent by Me. Our Lord's saying "Our Messenger": one sent by our Lord, charged with a duty. To prove that he is Allah's Messenger, many things you have hidden in your book we have come to tell you and make clear. He will also pardon your faults that you wished. That is, the things you held to with false belief, your saying Jesus is the Messiah, your saying Mary (?) is Allah's wife, that God is three: if you repent and, in the name of Islam, follow the Prophet, Allah Almighty says: We will forgive you, We will pardon you, He decrees.
How merciful He is. Because we have no other door to go to but Him. Nor is there any other place of refuge but Him. Because there is no other creator but Him. So the Creator is very merciful and forgiving.
And since He created us deficient in (?), through our committing mistakes, (?), He says, know your helplessness. Know that I created you, return to Me. If I do not forgive you, He says, whom will I forgive? Why did I create you? So that you know My essence. And why did I create you flawed? So that you see your deficiency and know your helplessness. Well, you saw your deficiency and now you have returned to Me. You have matched My purpose in creating. If you repent and return to Me, if I do not forgive you, whom will I forgive, He says. Yes. But if you persist in your obstinacy, until the door of repentance closes, if you go on that way, that is your character anyway.
(?) your eternal return. Yes, truly you, from Allah a light, a clear book has come to you. Truly from Allah a light, a clear book, a remembrance. Yes, the Quran has come. This book: if it were the work of a human, in it many contradictory words you would find, it says, if it were the work of a human.
Except what was wrongly explained. That is not Allah's Word. The wrongly explained ones: with (?) attribute, according to their own minds, ascribing attributes to the verses. These verses they attributed are not Allah's Word. Yes. The verses are Allah's Word. Wrongly (?). Those explanations opened as translations of the verses and ascribing attributes to Allah are outside Allah's verse; Allah's Word. Yes.
Someone who showed people the truth, who was guided, who taught them what they did not know, they had killed. O people, to Allah's call, His address to people through verses, give ear.
How shall we give ear? O people, there is no god but Allah. Then: until now no living being has remained forever. If one had remained, I too would hope: maybe he won't die, so I won't die either.
Then: Allah Almighty says every soul will taste death and your return is to Me. Then: no other god besides Allah comes forward and says, I exist too. Then: in the world of the hereafter the scales will be set up, at the great court everyone's account will be seen, the right and the wrong will be separated, what everyone has earned, as against himself, (?), will be given to him, it says. O man, wake from your sleep.
When today you cannot bear a small pain, tomorrow bearing that punishment of the hereafter is not possible. Not possible.
When We (?) them in the fire, it says, the skin of their faces will be drawn back, their teeth will show. Like grinning people, it says, they will be. Allah forbid.
Allah's Word is the truth. Who is more faithful to his word than Allah, it says.
Here, before our eyes, if someone in a fire were burned, our conscience aches. We run to save him. We throw things on him so that the fire goes out. Tomorrow, in that house of agony, in that house of suffering, in that punishment of Hell, people being set there: would that not grieve us? Would we want people to go there, if we have faith?
So we will pray for them too. O our Lord, reform them. Our prayer will be like that. Not mercy on them. First, reform them. (?), O Allah, have mercy on them, we will say. (?). That is what man is. We are all Allah's servants. All of us. We were all created by one God, by our Lord. In our Lord's sight there is no separation in the purpose of creation. Allah has not attributed that side to us. But we, by your own will, separated in knowing or not knowing Allah. Yes. O people! To Allah's call, His address to people through verses, give ear. Allah does not intend injustice to people. But man calls injustice upon his own nafs.
Yes, these are the verses. We, to people, We, to the nafs, are not wrongdoers, it says. The nafs wrongs itself. Return to your Lord: your Lord pleased with you and you pleased with your Lord, so that you attain Allah's mercy. That's what Allah Almighty says in Surah Al-Fajr, you know. O nafs that has found rest, enter, your Lord pleased with you and you pleased with your Lord, among My servants, enter My Paradise, it says. He doesn't say enter Hell; enter My Paradise, He invites you constantly. But if you don't come, I will put you there, He says. He frightens you. Please, fear Allah and keep His word.
Today, if a person were going to kill you, to escape that death, for a few hours of your life you do what he says. You even become his servant and slave. Well then, for your eternal happiness why don't you return to your Lord who created you?
In verse 16 of Surah Al-Ma'idah, Allah Almighty: whoever seeks His pleasure, whoever seeks, Allah leads them with it to the paths of salvation, to their paths. Whoever seeks His pleasure, He leads with it to the paths of salvation. Actually, He shows the paths of salvation. And by His will He brings them out of darkness into light.
He guides them to a straight path. Yes. He guides them to a straight path. Verse 16 of Surah Al-Ma'idah, in its rendering.
because that part was written wrongly, we are looking here anyway; the verse there is wrong. To whoever seeks His pleasure, Allah with it, that is, with the Quran, the paths of salvation shows, and they, that is, in the brackets, people, by their own will, come out of darkness into light and enter a straight path. With the Quran. By their own will. Allah does not lead them. Allah shows. He sends. Everyone will use their own will. So we show the verses to some. We give them the Quran. We say, look, read. He reads. Here you have always tied this to people, he says. Well, if you tie this to Allah, is Allah a tyrant, will He (?) him into Hell?
Is Allah a tyrant, that by His own will He leads you to salvation and the other He wrongs?
Look how beautifully İbrahim Fakırullah says it. I (?), and it was the soul within the soul. So you will seek everything in yourself. In yourself. You will seek reward and sin through your own deeds. Otherwise, if you hand yourself over to Allah: "Oh my Allah, I thought You would lead me to the right path." He will ask Allah, and: yes, the Quran to you (?); why didn't you come? So Allah did not lead you. Look what He says: why didn't you come? He will ask you that. So you yourself did not come. Your own nafs seemed nicer; acting outside the verses you made your motto; so you will suffer your punishment today, He says.
But the other one: look what My verses (?), He says. Yes, it means that.
We will not pin our events, our lives on Allah. With our own lives, with the actions we ourselves did, with the decisions we ourselves made, we will receive reward and sin. Yes. That's what he says. Oh, he says, you have tied everything to yourself and to man. What else would we tie it to? And Allah Almighty says, doesn't He? What you earn is the return for your own two hands. Well, shall we pin this on Allah? Now, shall we pin it on ourselves? Shall we tie everything to Allah? Shall we tie it to ourselves? He says this with His own mouth too. Yes. Even those who sell books have fallen into such superstitions.
Into superstitions. What does it say? Allah Almighty in His verse: let us read the correct one here.
