Are those other than Allah helping you? Or can they help themselves?
Tafsir
Those polytheists, those who ascribe partners to Allah, those who deny Allah and the Hereafter, can those whom you worship benefit you today? Do they help you in any way? Or do they have any benefit for themselves?
People who associate partners with Allah, in fact, deny Allah because Allah has created human beings very close to Him. And the reason Allah (swt) created people close to Him is because He values them very highly. Therefore, people could not believe that Allah had created them and they denied Allah (swt). However, all created human beings know that they were created. Therefore, they visualize Allah, who created them, in their imagination and wait for Him. Of course, since there is no other God but Allah, their waiting has been in vain. Since they did not believe in Allah, who created them, they became arrogant and proud and boastful against Allah with the ego that people have. In this way they denied Allah. Allah (swt) says about these people, "Have you not seen the one who has made his nafs a god?" Allah (swt) explains the situation of these people towards His Essence at the time of the covenant. In this respect, these people, who could not believe in Allah, the Creator of themselves, have created partners for Allah by extending the Allah of their imagination in the world and worshipping them.
Allah (swt) will ask such people: Can those whom you worship, who are other than Allah, help themselves? No, because they are the creatures of Allah and they are in need of Allah. These people will realize this truth on the Day of Reckoning in the Hereafter, but their hearts will still not be satisfied. In this respect, they will be in eternal hell.
What is said in the video
We have come to verse 93.
In verse 93, Allah Almighty: those other than Allah, do they help you? Even in this world. Do those other than Allah help them? No, they serve them. People serve what their own hands have made. Astonishing. Or it is said: Are they of any help to them? that is, there in the hereafter, will they be of any help to them at all? To those polytheists, to those who associate partners with Allah, who deny Allah and the hereafter: those you worshipped, can they bring you any benefit today? Where are they? Allah Almighty will call them too. Come here, let Me see. Was it you who told these people: I am your god?
And they too will speak: God forbid! We weren't even aware of ourselves, they will say. Yes. And they will vanish. Yes. So people who cannot use their reason, who follow their nafs, who have taken Satan as their guide, and who have befriended the one Allah calls our enemy — tomorrow in the realm of the hereafter, in the torment of that severe day, on that day of reckoning, how will they give account? (?) They cannot, of course. Where is their place? If they went as (?), the fire of hell. Our Lord, what an evil resting place that is.
Or: Are they of any benefit to them? it will be said. That people who associate partners with Allah actually deny Allah comes from Allah Almighty creating people very close to Himself. At the address Elest-i Rabbiküm, Allah Almighty created all our souls; before our soul, which is our real being, with the Prophet beside Him, when He said Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, I am your Lord, out of their pride and arrogance they — in Him who resembles them, or rather who appears to us in human form, who appears to us exactly as a human, Allah Almighty — could not believe. They (?) to another being that created them, to a world of imagination.
Out of pride and arrogance they could not believe in our Lord, whom they saw as like themselves. Yes.
Let's read this part once more. That people who associate partners with Allah actually deny Allah comes from Allah Almighty creating people very close to Himself. And Allah Almighty creating people close to His essence comes from His giving people very great value. That is, He gave man a part of His essence. Allah Almighty. What is that? We said Allah Almighty is the universal soul, and man is the partial soul. So, as we said, the part resembles the whole. That is, we said, if you take a drop of water from the oceans, that drop carries the properties of the oceans. Yes. In this respect, the value Allah Almighty has given to people, He has given to no created thing in the universe.
For this reason, too, Allah Almighty says in His verse, and I created man in the most beautiful form. Among those created in beautiful form, in the most beautiful, highest form he was created. Why? Because as a part of His essence, as a part of His form, He gave it to us. So in this case He created us as eşref-i mahlukat, that is, the most honorable of creatures. Yes, for this reason people could not believe that Allah created them and they denied Allah Almighty. Yet all created people also know that they are created. So, picturing in their imagination the Allah who created them, they are waiting for Him.
Of course, since there is no other god besides Allah, their waiting has come to nothing. And since they do not believe in the Allah who created them, with the nafs found in people they boasted in pride and arrogance against Allah and grew haughty. In this way they denied Allah. So, for these people, with the verse in which Allah Almighty says: Have you not seen the one who deifies his nafs? Allah Almighty, regarding that covenant, their covenants — Allah Almighty, regarding that moment of covenant, these people's stance toward His essence He explains. What is it? Have you not seen the one who deifies his nafs? That is, because man resembles Allah Almighty in human form, man could not believe in Allah Almighty.
In that case he waited for the Lord in his imagination. And Allah Almighty, regarding that Lord they wait for in their imagination, says to them in a verse: They will not be able to see their Lord. So, as we said, those who cannot grasp the verses, who do not know their meanings, well, there, blind and sightless, they will be resurrected, they say. And in Surah As-Sajdah, verse 12, it says they, on that day, say: we have come, we have seen, we have heard, that is, listened; is there, it says, a return to the world again, so we may worship You there properly, it says. Yes. Now in this case, it means: if our Lord is the judge of judges, then just as we give account before judges in the world, we will give account before Him in the same way.
And we will also see our Lord. So what is this verse? That is, the one we mentioned: They will not be able to see their Lord. What is that verse?
There is no god but Allah, after all. That they might see the Lord they (?) in their imagination. So here this verse symbolizes tawhid. Tawhid. Yes.
For this reason these people, who cannot believe in the Allah who created them, in the world (?) the Allah in their imagination and, worshipping them, associated partners with Allah. And man, together with the Lord in his imagination, together with the Lord in his imagination, in whatever way he (?) and imagines it with his hand, then horned, hornless, in the shape of a monster and so on, in that way they worship them. Such fear, within that fear. But if Allah Almighty had frightened people, we would all have prostrated together. All together. And had We, He says, struck them and (?) with angels, He says, they would all have prostrated.
Yes. So, because Allah Almighty values man so highly, He wanted him, by his own partial will, to know his Lord. Allah Almighty will ask such people: those other than Allah, these that you worship, can they help themselves? No. Because they too, being Allah's creations, are beings in need of Allah. So these people, in the hereafter, on that day of reckoning, will understand this truth. They will understand, but still, not those they worshipped — they will still wait for the Lord in their imagination. Because since he did not see, he will say I did it that way, but that Lord in his imagination will come.
He will punish our Lord who punishes him and (?) them and bring them into paradise. Because if they had known Allah Almighty there, or had they turned to Allah there, Allah Almighty could not possibly leave them in hell forever. Because since their characters, the covenants they gave, are their destiny, they will not change that destiny, nor will they change their characters. So what is this? Their saying: we have come, we have seen, is there a return to the world, so we may worship You again. They deceive themselves. They think they will deceive Allah too. When they see so much torment in hell, they still will not believe, and they will say to Malik, the keeper of hell: O Malik, tell your Lord — they cannot say our Lord. Because they will wait for the Lord in their imagination.
Tell your Lord to lighten the torment on us a little, they will say. And he will say: Did prophets not come to you while you were in the world? They came, they will say. But they, still in Satan's trap, will not be able to believe in Allah and in that Lord. In that case they will remain there as eternal people of hell.
Yet their hearts will still not be at peace. For this reason, too, they will be destined for hell forever.
