Oh you believers! Fulfill your agreements. Animals are permissible for you, except for those which will be recited to you (below), provided you do not deem hunting permissible while you are in the state of Ihraam. Allah rules on whatever Allah desires.

Tafsir

O you who believe! When you observe the obligations of Allah, observe their rules. Perform the Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, and observe Allah's covenants which He has commanded upon you while you are in ihram. Do not hunt while in ihram. Do not kill a live animal, except for animals that will harm you in case you are forced to do so.

You are not permitted to hunt while you are in ihram, except for the animals that you will read in the following verse. Allah (swt) informs us about animals that are of no use to humans and that when eaten they cause harm to their own bodies.

Allah creates whatever He wills and whatever He wills, and He has wisdom in His judgment.

What is said in the video

O you who believe, fulfil the obligations of your contracts. That is, if you have given your word, fulfil what that word requires. Provided you do not deem hunting lawful while in ihram, the animals other than those to be recited to you below have been made lawful for you. Allah decrees whatever He wills, it says. Yes.

No hunting while in ihram. No killing a living thing. While in ihram. Because you are now a dead man. Does a dead man have power over anything? He does not. Even if you see a living thing on you, a louse, a flea, you will pick it off and put it aside. No killing. Living things — look, it says: fulfil. Provided you do not deem hunting lawful while in ihram, the animals other than those to be recited to you below have been made lawful for you — even though it says this, hunting is killing a living thing. In that case, being in ihram means you have stripped yourself of the world, put on the shroud, and are going to your Lord.

Don't you say the same to your Lord at Arafat? Lebbeyk Allahümme lebbeyk, lebbeyke lâ şerîke leke lebbeyk, inne'l-hamde ve'n-ni'mete leke ve'l-mülk, lâ şerîke lek. What are you saying?

Command, my God, command, I have come at Your command, my God, command; in Your dominion praise is Yours alone, You have no partner, my God — that is what you say. Yes, and in that case 'Command, my God, command,' you say. Now, you said, 'I have put on the ihram, I am coming to You' — can there be (?) then? Not here any more. You will go to Allah and at the same time slaughter Allah's creatures? See what a beautiful law Allah Almighty has laid down. What does it say? O you who believe! Fulfil the obligations of your contracts. Provided you do not deem hunting lawful while in ihram, other than those to be recited to you below, the animals have been made lawful for you.

What is this? The animals to be recited below: pork, carrion, blood, and torn apart by wild beasts — if you reach it before it dies and slaughter it, you may eat it. If it has died, you cannot eat that either. O you who believe, while observing Allah's obligations, their rules you must fulfil. Their rules. While fulfilling the duty of hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, while in ihram, observe the contracts, the commands Allah has placed upon you — observe them. Do not hunt while in ihram. Except for animals that would harm you when you are in danger, a living animal you must not kill. Yes. When you are in danger, it is an exception.

For example, you are walking in ihram and you see a lion has leapt at you, or a predatory animal is coming straight at you. You have nowhere to run. Here you are defending your life. It falls under self-defence.

Provided you do not deem hunting lawful while in ihram, in the verse coming below, the animals other than those to be recited to you have been made lawful for you. Allah Almighty — animals that are not good for people and that, when eaten, would harm one's body — makes known the status of these animals. Allah creates whatever He wills and intends, and in His ruling He is the possessor of wisdom. Our Lord.
