Tafsir

When the elders of Hadrat Noah's people, the wealthy people, said to Hadrat Noah, "Would we ever follow you when low-level people keep coming to you," Hadrat Noah said to the elders of his people, "I have no knowledge of what they are doing. In other words, the people you call low level people are the people who say Allah. However, low level people can only be low level people if they commit adultery, usurp other people's property, and commit disgraceful crimes. The people who follow Hazrat Noah (peace be upon him) are the people who fulfill the command of Allah. In this respect, Hazrat Noah (peace be upon him) said to them politely, both to remind them of Allah and to express that he had no knowledge of their good or bad deeds.

What is said in the video

112. We have come to the verse.

Noah said:

I have no knowledge of what they do. About whom? Their, those around him, those people who see themselves above the people they call despicable – he says it about them. What does he say? I have no knowledge of what they do. Yes, they have come to me, but did they come for my sake? Did they come for Allah's sake? I don't know what these people do. If you know, tell me. Yes, the leaders of the people of Noah (peace be upon him), the wealthy people, said to Noah (peace be upon him): while low-ranking people come to you and stay with you, would we ever follow you? In response, Noah (peace be upon him) says to the leaders of his people: I have no knowledge of what they do. That is, the people you call low-ranking are people who say "Allah". Yet for people to be low-ranking, they would have to commit adultery, seize this one's and that one's property, commit shameful crimes – only then would they be low-ranking people. The people who follow Noah (peace be upon him) are people who carry out Allah's command.

Therefore Noah (peace be upon him) politely, both to remind them of Allah and to express that he did not know whether these people had the good or bad states they wanted, told them: I have no knowledge of what they do, he said. If you know, tell me. What are these people doing? What will they say? They'll say: these people say "Allah". Well, he said "Allah" – they can't say that anyway. If you call a person who says "Allah" low-ranking, he is acting as your mirror. You see yourself in him. The truly low-ranking person is you.
