Tafsir
They seek a fatwa from you concerning women's share in the inheritance, tell them that Allah has revealed the ruling concerning them. In the days of ignorance among the Arabs, women were not given inheritance, and they were considered to be bought and sold. With Islam, Allah abolished the rulings of the people of the age of ignorance over women and gave women their due value among human beings, for Allah judges all His creatures with justice.
Orphans used to be deprived of inheritance in the ignorance of the Arabs. In fact, when a person named Ubays appeared before the Prophet and said, "We have heard that you give shares in inheritance to daughters and sisters," the Prophet replied, "I was ordered to do so.
(Say: Allah makes clear to you the judgment concerning them. The Verses which have been recited to you concerning orphaned women, helpless children, and orphans whom you wish to marry and do not inherit what is written for them in the Book, and that you deal justly with orphans, make Allah's judgment clear." This verse refers to the second, third, sixth, ninth, tenth and eleventh verses of Surah Al-Nisaa.
Allah (swt) constantly reminds people not to deviate from justice and not to deviate from the command of their Lord and invites them to guidance. May Allah have mercy on us all and annex us among His loved ones.
What is said in the video
Now, Surah An-Nisa, about women; Nisa means women anyway. Now we come to the verses about women. Some of the verses after this are about women.
Surah An-Nisa, verse 127: They ask you for a ruling about women. Say: Allah explains to you the ruling concerning them. Our Lord explains the ruling about women. The verses recited to you in the Book about orphan women, to whom you do not give the inheritance written for them yet wish to marry, about helpless children, and about acting justly toward orphans, make Allah's ruling perfectly clear. Whatever good you do, surely Allah knows it, He says. Now what does He say? The orphan women, to whom you do not give the inheritance written for them in the Book, yet wish to marry, He says. Orphan women.
you don't want to give her an inheritance. Well, helpless children. You don't want to give them an inheritance either, for example. And the verses recited to you about acting justly toward orphans make Allah's ruling perfectly clear. So act justly, He says, justly. Never say 'that one is an orphan, this one is a child'; even if they have no rights, leave them something so as to win their hearts too, He says. These are Allah's verses. About women, about getting a share of the inheritance, they want (?) from you. Say to them: Allah explains the ruling concerning them.
In the past, among the Arabs in the period of ignorance, women were not given inheritance. They were seen as things to be bought, sold, sold. Women, as things to be bought and sold.
They were used in their own entertainments.
And those who could not bear it would even bury their children alive.
Through Islam, Allah abolished the rulings of people in their ignorance over women, and since Allah judges everything He created with justice, He gave women the value they deserve among people.
In fact it has existed since our father Adam, but because people did not approach Allah's verses, their nafs made some things look good to them, and with the desire of Satan and the desire of the nafs, deifying their own nafs, they ruled over women.
Their backs (?) to Allah's verses. In one verse, look what Allah Almighty says. Even though only a little time has passed since those destroyed peoples, how their course resembles that of their ancestors, He says.
Though only a little time had passed, they went astray again. They went astray. They will go astray. Because there is Paradise and Hell, you know; (?) Look at the beauty of the religion of Islam, how beautiful it is.
Orphan women too were deprived of inheritance in the Arabs' period of ignorance. An orphan, you see: no father, no one. In fact, that orphan, the guardian of that orphan is Allah. She has a stronger backing than her father and mother. But they do not know. Yes. In fact, a man named Übeys came before the Prophet and said: we have heard that you give daughters and sisters a share of the inheritance, is that so? And the Prophet answered: so I have been commanded. how beautifully he says it. So I have been commanded. Yes. When someone says something to me too: you say it like this. Yes. I say it like this because I have been commanded so.
That is, I say it because I have been commanded by the verses. But because what I say weighs heavy on the nafs's desire, on these (?), they oppose it. And because it weighs heavy on their own nafs, Hodja, why are there so few people on this site of yours? Do you know? I know. It weighs heavy on their nafs. In truth they run away from it. That is why there are few people. People who long for Allah, who say love and affection, who are ruled by Allah's commands; but worldly people who turn their backs on Allah's commands for their interests, who for their own petty interests even (?) their brother: for such people, listening to our words on this site does not suit them.
But tomorrow regret will be of no use either. Yes.
Say: Allah explains to you the ruling concerning them. The verses recited to you in the Book about orphan women, to whom you do not give the inheritance written for them yet wish to marry, about helpless children, and about acting justly toward orphans, make Allah's ruling perfectly clear. This wife of yours, your wife, whether she is an orphan or from the world's richest (?), its most well-backed people: One: you will (?) a mahr for her, a mahr. You will give it to her. This is a matter of right. And then from the inheritance (?) right, the woman's right. From the inheritance. You will give it.
To the men, compared with the women, two thirds, to the daughters one third. That is, there are four men. And if there were three daughters for the inheritance, or two daughters: four men, two daughters, the men two each, eight, the two daughters ten, if a hundred liras were left, the men will take twenty liras each, the women ten each.
Why is it like this? Well, now, isn't this injustice? It isn't. Women were protected, protected. How were they protected? The woman goes to her husband and gets her right from her husband too. The man has no right from anything. He stays on his father's property. You see that, where the woman went, ooh, she is in clover, rich. Or else, where the woman went, despite receiving her one-third share, she divorces her husband. Who will she come to? To her brother, in the place of a father. She comes back to the father's inheritance, to the family hearth. There one share remains as her right. That is, not as a right to care, but because those children will look after her.
Because it is their own honour, their sister. They will look after her. Allah Almighty does this so that she is not left alone. He protects women on every side. Yes.
Well, Allah explains to you the ruling concerning them. The verses recited to you in the Book about orphan women, to whom you do not give the inheritance written for them yet wish to marry, about helpless children, and about acting justly toward orphans, make Allah's ruling perfectly clear. This verse refers to verses 2, 3, 6, 9, 10 and 11 of Surah An-Nisa.
Yes.
Give me the Quran, let me see.
to me, from there, give me our Quran. (?) They don't know where they put it. Look at me.
Surah An-Nisa, second. Give the orphans their property. Do not exchange the clean for the foul. Do not consume the sustenance of your own property by mixing their property into your own. Because this is a great sin, He says. Yes.
The third verse: If you fear that you cannot observe the rights of orphan girls, marry of the women you like or that are lawful for you two, three or four. If you fear doing injustice, be content with one, or else be content with the slave women you possess; this is closer to your not deviating from justice. In the 6th verse: Manage and test the orphans until they reach the age of marriage. If you see maturity of mind in them, give them their property at once. Do not hastily consume that property wastefully, thinking they will grow up and take it back. Let the guardian who is rich try to be abstinent.
And let the poor one eat in keeping with his need and his labour. When you give them their property, have witnesses present with them. And Allah suffices as the one who calls to account, He says. Yes. Ninth and tenth. Eleventh verses.
Children left behind, helpless and powerless. Those who would fear what would become of them if they left them behind, let them fear and tremble at doing injustice to orphans. Let them beware of Allah and speak the right word. Those who unjustly consume the property of orphans have surely only stuffed their bellies with fire. And they will enter a blazing fire. Allah commands you concerning your children: to the male twice the share of the female, as I said a moment ago. He commands you to give inheritance. If the children are more than two women, two thirds of what the deceased left is theirs.
If there is only one woman, half is hers. If the deceased has (?) child, for each of the parents a sixth share of the inheritance there is. It goes on here. We read this part, went past it, explained these parts. We explained these parts. So this verse, since the verses confirm each other, says it here. He says. Concerning orphan women, say: Allah explains to you the ruling concerning them. The verses recited to you in the Book about orphan women, to whom you do not give the inheritance written for them yet wish to marry, about helpless children, and about acting justly toward orphans, the verses. These we read. Make Allah's ruling perfectly clear.
This verse. To verses 2, 3, 6, 9, 10 and 11 of Surah An-Nisa it refers. Allah Almighty, constantly reminding people not to depart from justice and not to depart from their Lord's command, invites them, people, to guidance. Yes, with justice.
May Allah have mercy on us all and join us to those He loves. Yes.
