Do not argue on behalf of those who betray themselves, for Allah does not like the sinners who are habitual betrayers.

Tafsir

Allah (swt) does not love those who betray and harm others. Do not defend those who harass people's property, those who steal from them and harm them. Do not defend them, because these people are on a bad path. If you defend and protect such people, tomorrow you will cause harm to someone else. To defend and protect them is to participate in their sins.

That is why Allah says (He does not love the sinners who make treachery their profession). Allah (swt) has sent His laws to give life to people. People who violate these laws are sinners. Those who act outside of Allah's commandments, those who make a profession of treachery, those who make unfair gains through theft, extortion, interest, etc., and make people suffer, these are those who make unfair gain a profession. It is a commandment of Allah which He does not want and which He does not approve of human beings.

People who are created with honor and dignity, who are created equal in dignity, and who are addressed to the Essence of Allah (swt), and who take disgraceful crimes as a profession, become vulgar among people and sinners in the sight of Allah (swt). Allah does not love such sinful people. They are also the ones who betray their ego. Betrayal of trust is among the same crimes. A person is entrusted with property, and he destroys it and causes damage to it, or denies it and keeps it for himself. Those who make such behavior their profession are sinners in the sight of Allah. And the bodies are a trust to people. Those who use their bodies outside of Allah's command are sinners in the sight of Allah.

(I will hold you to account for the way in which you use these bodies that I have given you.) A Muslim is a person who people are safe from his (hand, waist and tongue). They do not despise worldly goods and do not go beyond the command of Allah.

What is said in the video

Do not defend those who betray themselves! How beautifully He says it. Who is it that betrays himself? Those who deny Allah. Those who betray their own souls. Yes. Those who gather without regard to lawful or unlawful. Those who unjustly seize people's rights and devour their rights, these betray their own souls. That is, according to the verse, those who wrong their own souls. Those who (?). Those who make the scale of sins weigh heavier.

Yes, do not defend those who betray themselves. For Allah does not love sinners who have made treachery their trade, He does not love them. Who have made treachery their trade. Aren't there such among us? There are, there are. Aren't there swindlers? There are. Those who say to those innocent people, we will do this, we will do that, sir, let me tell you, and swindle them and dump that debt burden on them.

Those who take students and pocket the students' money. Those who leave them wronged. Aren't there such? There are.

We are witnesses to such people too.

These have made treachery their trade. (?) will you defend this? If you defend him, you too will have taken your place at his side. Allah forbid. So, if you are the embodiment of truth and justice, if you are, on earth, Allah, according to the verse, one of those who, as it says, let there be among you those who teach truth and justice, how can you take your place beside that person who has made treachery his trade? And how can you make treachery your trade? Or how can you unjustly decide against people?

This world is passing. Tomorrow, at the great court, account will be given. Account.

People who do not think of this account,

who see only the world and run after the (?) pleasure and enjoyment of the world, who for their own interests (?) on the backs of others, people who have made treachery their trade.

Allah says: Allah does not love sinners who have made treachery their trade. Yes. Why does He not love them? Allah Almighty on earth makes no distinction between any human being. Again I say it, you did not mishear: Allah Almighty, the people He created on earth, idolaters, I mean the living, the living: idolaters, Magians, fire-worshippers, those who follow their own ideology, those who deify their nafs, with religion or without, whoever they are, His mercy in the universe is equal for all. He makes no distinction among any of them. If He made a distinction, He would be given attributes. He makes no distinction among any of them.

In His verse He even says: I have shared out even the earth equally among you. The earth. In those deserts you see as barren, oil comes out. Elsewhere there are vast forests suited to farming, vineyards, gardens, sir, fruits, vegetables. And the earth has truly been shared out equally among people by our Lord. So you cannot attribute qualities to Allah Almighty.

Without distinguishing whether with idols or without, with religion or without, whoever they are, He does not love those who betray their own souls, such people on earth. They are sinners. Does He commit injustice? No. Their burden of sin increases. And He does not love such people.

Allah Almighty does not love those who betray, who harm others. Those who prey on people's goods and property, who steal from them and harm them, do not defend them. Do not stand up for them. For these people are, in their course, on an evil way. An evil way. If you defend and protect such people, tomorrow you will cause harm to someone else. Defending and protecting them means taking part in the sins they will commit. Yes, it means taking part. That is why, never give value to such people. Such people, even if it is our father, our father, we must decide about them without ever departing from Allah's justice, we must. O father, O my father, you are a sinner, you are an oppressor, you have taken your place on the enemy's side. You are doing deeds our Lord does not love, you are swindling this one and that one out of their rights.

I am clear of you, I am ashamed of you, of these deeds you do. Look, our Lord makes us keep away from these. He says these are great sins. O my father, tomorrow we will give account in the presence of our Lord. Come, let us give these up. Let us not swindle people. Let us respect their rights and their dues. Let us love them. As we love ourselves, even giving up our own interests for them, giving them from our own benefits, let us make them love our Lord's religion. Tomorrow, with these deeds of ours, we will attain abundant rewards in the presence of our Lord, we must say.

As Muslims, as elders, that is, as old people, to our children and grandchildren we must give such advice.

But unfortunately we see that today people steal and pilfer.

Once my son brought me a packet of lamps. He was eight or nine years old then. Son, where did you get this?

I was living across from the train station, I said, (?). It was lying unowned at the train station, I took it from there, he said. Go and leave it where you took it from, son, I said. Its owner will come and take it from there, I said. He went and left it there.

Today we see things being stolen from our gardens. Grown men don't do this, children do. Doesn't the owner of the house he takes it to, his father and mother, ask him? Son, where did you get this? Where did you get this?

And he will say: I took it from Uncle Hajji's garden. Son, take it and leave it there. That is how a child is brought up.

There weren't many houses around my house.

One day they stole my taps, the garden taps, and took them away. Well, let them take them. I bought new ones and fitted them. And then I saw that the taps had been put in a bag, in the garden, hanging under the arbour. Back then there were few people; the people around me were (?) people. Now the surroundings have grown, people of whom you can't tell who is who have come around the house. In this situation, although we are all Muslims, yes, a child does this. He is a child; it is not too much for him. He is a child anyway, but it is too much for that mother and father. That mother and father will say: son, take this, take it back where you got it.

And because that child knows his mother and father don't want anything from outside at home, he will never steal again. How beautiful. But that mother and father think it is a gain. And they (?) their son. (?) And so the generation (?) goes on like this.

That is why He says: Allah does not love sinners who have made treachery their trade. Allah Almighty has sent His laws that give life to people. People who step outside these laws are sinners.

The human nafs never acts in line with Allah's command. Nor does it want to live its life that way. Because the nafs will take, steal, pilfer, carve out for itself, desire, live, desire every kind of vice and filth.

The nafs was created this way.

But the spirit

is its governor.

If that spirit rules over that nafs, it does not give it what it asks for. It keeps it at a certain level. It shows it the right ways of the Truth and keeps it away from the ways shown by Satan and the Taghut; if it saves it from those evil ways, then he is a perfect person who has reformed his nafs, a believer who has attained his Lord's mercy.

But (?) to such movements, to its desires and wishes, if he submits, if he enjoys it and lives with it, he is a person who has become abased in the sight of Allah. Abased.

Now

between these two ways, the decision falls to you. Every person has a covenant given to Allah Almighty. A destiny, a degree. Between these two ways, two ways, the states of the nafs. If you have reformed it, you have attained the attribute of believer. If you could not reform it, in this world, with suppositions, with hesitations, with doubts, you keep floundering.

Who is the believer? The believer is a person who has come to know the manifestations.

O soul that has found peace. Look how beautifully He says it. The nafs has found peace. How has it found peace?

I am telling you.

Its nafs has not risen to peace, it has not come to know the manifestations.

Look at those who say I am a scholar: I am calling to a nafs that has not come to know the manifestations, that has not found peace. To those who say I am a scholar, to those who say I have Arabic grammar,

to all Muslims I am calling. If he has not risen to peace, that person is a Muslim,

he has faith, but about the world of the hereafter, that he will rise again, he is in doubt. Hodja, how can you say that? Who would have doubts about such a thing? Don't say that, consult your conscience. Consult your conscience.

You think of the world of the hereafter as something like a dream. From time to time you fall into hesitation. Your faith protects you. You are a Muslim. Faith in the unseen. In your Lord's unseen. You have believed in His state that is not seen in this world. You are a Muslim, that's it. Your faith protects you. But never say I am at peace, as long as you have not come to know the manifestations. After all: O soul that has found peace. Look, He is not saying it to the others. He is saying it to the nafs that has found peace. And that is the person who has come to know the manifestations.

And the one who has come to know the manifestations does not know this: if he has not risen higher, scholars and angels bear witness to Allah's existence. He does not know this either.

And those who have come to know that knowledge do not know this, cannot know it, step by step, these are the states of the nafs anyway. When We created these worlds, We did not take Satan and (?) as witnesses for Ourselves; (?) they do not know this either. That is why, never say, we have found peace; all of you are in hesitation. From time to time it is your faith that protects you; with your faith and your reason you stand firm. Otherwise, don't forget, you are not. Yes. People created noble and honourable, the noblest of creatures, whom Allah Almighty has taken as addressees of His essence, people who make shameful crimes their trade both become vulgar among people and, in the sight of Allah, they become sinners.

Allah does not love such sinful people. Why does He not love them? O man, I created you so that My essence would be known.

I gave you of My spirit. I took you as an addressee of My essence. I created the worlds for you. Hodja, what are you saying? Were the worlds created for us? Yes. The Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace be upon him), a mercy to the two worlds, mercy, the Seal of the Prophets, the Prophet: ve mâ erselnâke illâ rahmeten li'l-âlemîn, isn't it? Didn't we too come from his spirit? Yes. What I speak are always counterparts of verses. Just use your minds; note down what seems contrary to you, as I said before. Later you will understand that it is the truth. Yes. What does it say? Created noble and honourable: it always goes back there.

There. The noblest of creatures, whom Allah Almighty has taken as addressees of His essence; for the Quran, the word of Allah, is given to people. Besides man, no one is taken as an addressee of the Lord's essence. Yes. There are also the jinn. They too will be called to account with their sins and their rewards, as much as they have done.

People who make shameful crimes their trade. O man! Did I create you for this? Did I create you to swindle people, your brothers? Did I create you to leave your brothers' provision, what they earned, their wives and children hungry, and eat it yourself in pleasure and enjoyment? When He asks this, what answer will you give? What answer will you give? Yes.

So such people both become vulgar among people and, in the sight of Allah, become sinners. Allah does not love such sinful people. Betraying a trust is also among the same crimes. Betraying a trust.

Deliver trusts to their owners, He says. Yes. What is a trust? A person is in a tight spot. He leaves with you, as a trust, a cauldron, a copper pail, a valuable item from his house. Perhaps. In return give me five lira, ten lira, whatever, some money. When I return your money to you, return my goods to me. If I cannot give it, let my goods be yours.

That is a trust.

If you covet his goods and do not give them to their owner, you have (?) betrayal of the trust. That is one. A man goes somewhere. Or he entrusts some money to someone. Or he entrusts some goods. He says: I don't need this. Or: I have no place to keep it. Would you keep this trust in my place?

He gives it as a trust. If you accepted this trust and took it, give it to him down to the last penny. Down to the last penny. You cannot use a trust. I used to employ people. I had a safe. The man working with me said: you take my money and give it to me later. I would put his money in the safe; I would not spend a penny of it. Whenever he wanted, he would go and take his money from there. Mevlana did the same, they say. When they left a trust with him, he said: leave it there, son. In the jar; when the owner comes to take it, (?), he said. Yes. That is how a trust is delivered to its owner.

Some goods have been entrusted to a person, and the person has broken and spilled this trust, damaged it, or denied it and kept it for himself. Those who make such behaviour their trade are sinners in the sight of Allah.

A Muslim is the person from whose hand, waist and tongue people should be safe.

This is a noble hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him). If a Muslim is not safe from a Muslim's hand, waist and tongue, that Muslim's faith has not reached perfection, he says. That is, he has not found peace. He has not become a believer. Yes. They do not stoop to worldly goods and they do not step outside Allah's command. The believers. There is no turning back for them. From the nafs al-mulhima you turn back, from the nafs al-lawwama you turn back, you fall into the nafs al-ammara, you even leave the religion. But in the nafs al-mutmainna there is no turning back for the believer. That is why Allah Almighty says in one of His verses: tell those believing women, those believing women to guard their eyes from the forbidden, let them cover (?) down to their collars, let them cover what should not be seen, He says.

How beautiful. He says so because these believers will not give it up. If He had said it to Muslims, and Muslims went bareheaded as today, then for opposing Allah's verse they would become disbelievers. Allah Almighty, in the language of speech, to give life to Muslims, they too will live Muslimhood, but to their sinners, so that those who will be sinners are not pushed outside Islam, out of His mercy He says it this way. So as not to push them outside Islam. The Muslim will not be able to master his nafs, will uncover her head and show her (?). In this way they will be sinners. It is rare for such people to go to the hereafter as Muslims.

Yes.
