Except for the ones amongst the believers (mu’min) who have an excuse. Those who sit (at home) and those who fight in the way of Allah with their lives and their possessions are not equal. Allah has made the status of those who fight with their lives and their possessions higher. Indeed, Allah has promised goodness for all of them (in the Paradises). Yet, Allah has given to those who fight a higher status than to those who sit.

Tafsir

Allah (swt) praises those who wage jihad to invite people to salvation, to spread Islam among the Muslims and to announce Islam to the people, and emphasizes the importance that Allah (swt) attaches to jihad. Except for the disabled among the believers, those who are unable to walk or speak due to illness or disability, the rest of the believers are called to jihad in the way of Allah. Jihad can be waged in the case of war, but it can also be waged with knowledge. Jihad with knowledge is better.

Jihad in the case of war is when a tribe oppresses and harasses Muslims, and there is war against such an oppressive tribe until they bring them to Islam. If necessary, according to the verse in which he says (collectively), he means all the Muslims of the world, unite against such enemies of Islam and against the tribes that disturb people's peace and give them no rest, and fight against them until they convert to Islam or offer peace.

The clear implication here is that since Islam will deal with the justice of Allah, the people created by Allah (swt) are obliged to be guided by the light of Islam in order to find salvation on earth.

Jihad with knowledge is to appeal to people's minds, hearts and consciences, and to entrust them with the truth, to tell them the truth, and to help them find the truth. People of knowledge, who have a working mind, understand the beauty of Islam and the subtleties of Allah's justice much better, and if they do not succumb to their egoistic feelings, they will be compelled to enter Islam, bowing down to it in the face of its beauty.

Allah (swt) does not want any of His creatures to oppress any of the people He has created, even though He provides them with all kinds of sustenance and provides them with a life and does not oppress them. He makes everyone a witness of His actions. Since the questioning of people's actions and the rewards and sins they have received in return for those actions is reserved for Allah (swt), on that day of reckoning, in the Hereafter, in the presence of Allah (swt), they will be reckoned with.

Jihad with knowledge; Muslims should wage jihad against the enemies of Islam by knowing their religion well, without persecuting people. Otherwise, the enemies of Islam, by denigrating the religion of Islam to Muslims, by making them adopt the filth and immorality of the human soul into Islam, by making them love their own superstitious beliefs, by corrupting people's manners and morals with gilded words such as modern understanding and enlightenment, are pulling them out of Islam. They are enemies of Islam in terms of maintaining their rule over those who are Islamic through their own false deeds, and in terms of doing whatever they can think of in the world with people who are like their understanding.

Allah does not command rudeness, immorality and oppression. In this respect, in order to prevent injustice to people, He calls on all Muslims to develop knowledge, science, technology and the world, and He commands Muslims to be ready for those who would oppress people. In one of the obligations, he says (be ready for war if you want peace and prosperity). In this respect, Muslims should obey Allah and work hard in their world so that they can be examples for people. Let people follow their example and find life.

Those who sit and those who strive in jihad with their wealth and their lives are not the same except for those who have a disability among the Muslims. Allah (swt) has made those who strive with their wealth and their lives superior to those who sit. Are those who work and those who do not work equal? Are those who strive in the way of Allah with their wealth and those who strive with their wealth and their lives, or those who do not have wealth and those who strive with their lives? The one who runs from border to border in torment and the one who sacrifices his life in the way of Allah if necessary is not the same as the one who stays at home. These mujahideen are far superior in rank to those who stay at home.

Allah (swt) has promised paradise to everyone who says Allah, who is a Muslim, and they have been promised beautiful paradises. But the mujahideen have been given a greater reward than those who sit.

What is said in the video

Surah An-Nisa, verse 95. Apart from those among the believers who have an excuse,

those who sit, who are those who sit? Women, those who sit at home, and those who strive in the way of Allah with their wealth and their lives are not equal. The disabled are exempt, He says, look. He is blind, sightless, lame, crippled in the arm, disabled, these are exempt; he is sick, these are exempt. Apart from this, apart from those among the believers who have an excuse, those who sit, that is, those who sit at home, and those who strive in the way of Allah with their wealth and lives are not equal. Of course they are not equal. Why are they not equal? However much faith someone has, however much he is a Muslim, his loving his wealth and his life, his wealth and his life, out of weakness of faith,

holding them above striving in the way of Allah, shows his disobedience to Allah's commands, the arrogance and grandeur of his own nafs, and his cowardice. In this case, can those who strive with their wealth and lives and such a person be equal? Impossible. Impossible. Yes.

Allah has raised those who strive with their wealth and lives in rank above those who sit. In rank. Of course they are above the others in rank with Allah. Just as the world has its poor, so does the hereafter, in Paradise. Let us not count him poor, let us not call him poor, the one content with a house, a house, let us call it a little house. On the other side, another has a mansion. On the other side, another a palace. On the other side, those in the high Paradise beneath which rivers flow, places, (?). Now, is that one the same as this one? So if this world is transient, and it is transient, no one can call this place lasting. If a single person had stayed alive, we would say perhaps it is lasting.

Since from our father Adam until now no one has remained in the world forever, if this world is transient, if every soul will taste death, if this is a passing world of travelers, a guesthouse, then if you abandon the abode of the high Paradise, your true homeland, for this world, if you trade it for the swamp of this world, then you will have wronged your own self. Yes.

So those who, although they work hard in the world and turn night into day to secure a good life, pass on to the hereafter as porters of the world without thinking of their hereafter, do harm to their own selves. They must prepare for the world of the hereafter, their true homeland, and send something ahead beforehand. As we always say, Allah Almighty does not tell anyone: work, and then, sir, (?) to me. He does not say that. What does He tell us?

Serve Me. I am your Lord. Obey My command. And I will give you the wealth of the world of the hereafter, He says. Who is truer to his word than Allah, He says? No one can be. In this case, if Allah Almighty shows people the way with His verses so that they can make the best of their future in the world of the hereafter, and people are deceived by the rosy look of this world, get caught in this swamp and trade their hereafter for the world, then, as I said a moment ago, you cannot call this person a wise person. Yes.

Except for those among the believers who have an excuse, those who, due to illness or disability, cannot walk or cannot speak are exempt; our Lord calls the others to strive in the way of Allah. To give people the finest station of the hereafter in rank. Why does He do this? Because He loves people very much. Because He willed that His Being be known through man, and He gave him of His spirit. And He left him free in his will. In the universe no being has a spirit except man. For this reason too, man, whom He created with free will and (?), because He places very great value on him, without looking at the fleeting world, He wants him to build up his hereafter, that is why He is calling them to jihad.

Jihad is waged in a state of war, and it is also waged with knowledge. Jihad with knowledge is more effective. Yes.

As for jihad in a state of war: when a people torments Muslims and constantly harasses them, there is war with such an oppressive people until they are brought to Islam.

According to the verse in which He says 'all together if necessary', addressing all the world's Muslims: unite against such peoples who are enemies of Islam, who rob people of their peace and give them no rest. Fight them until you bring them to Islam or until they offer peace, He says. Until they offer peace. And during peace our Lord warns us. They, He says, will deceive you at the table. At the table. Before sitting down at the table, tie the ropes tight, He says. How beautifully our Lord puts it. Tie the ropes tight. That is, under your rule, in the way you say, in the way you want, so that you rule, so that they obey you, bring them into such a state, He says.

From this the clear meaning emerges that, since Islam will deal with Allah's justice, the people He created, in order to find salvation on earth, are obliged to be honored with the light of Islam.

For example, the Ottomans' taking part in war was not because they coveted land. They did it to carry out Allah's command. In Bosnia and in other places, to the oppressed, even if they were non-Muslims, to the oppressed, they brought justice, brought justice and right, and saved them from oppression. In this case Allah Almighty, whether one is a non-Muslim or a Muslim, treats people equally, since His mercy on earth is for everyone. What does He say? My mercy: in the universe for everyone, in the hereafter only for the believer. Yes.

Jihad with knowledge, in turn, is to appeal to people's minds, hearts and consciences, to give each person his due, to explain the truths and to help them find the truth. People whose minds work and who have knowledge, since they understand the beauty of Islam and the subtleties of Allah's justice much better, if they do not get carried away by carnal feelings, will have to submit before the beauty of Islam and enter Islam. Every person can know his Lord through reason, and every person can tell crooked from straight with his mind. If people on earth see the truth and what is right, but it goes against their interests, and they deify their nafs and do not take their place beside the truth, they suffer oppression on earth; Allah Almighty squeezes them from other places, from many places, sir, encircles them little by little from unknown directions, and in the world of the hereafter too He makes them suffer.

But if, before the beauty of Islam, he saw the truth and what is right, and rules himself by it, Allah Almighty helps that person. What is Allah's help? A person has been honored with Islam, after seeing the truth and what is right, after longing for his Lord, in the verse in Surah An-Nur We put Our light, He says, into their hearts. Neither (?) nor the shadow of the heart falls on them, He says. If that person, before the beauty of Islam, submits to his Lord, and before His sublimity continues to worship his Lord, Allah Almighty does not leave such servants of His alone. What does He say? If he comes to Me a step, I to him; if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.

He (?) Me, and I mention him in such a gathering, He says. I mention him in such a good gathering, He says. Yes. In this case, if a person sets out to attach himself to Allah, or to earn His mercy, through his worship and by struggling with the evil states of his nafs, to earn his Lord's mercy, Allah Almighty too opens to him spiritually the paths of unveiling and gives him zeal. He puts His light into his heart and tells him the meanings of the verses through inspiration, explains them. Yes. But those who are not aware of these things, who are not aware, who do not know these things,

in this case those who are at the head of a certain part,

because they teach people according to their own minds,

people go this time not with Allah's verses but with their nafs. In the direction of worldly gain that their nafs shows them, in their own (?), without thinking of people, riding on their backs, or sucking their blood like an octopus, or exploiting their consciences, they make them spend their life, spend their life in (?). In this case, because our talks of this (?) kind do not please such people, because this is the truth. We speak the truth.

They start a smear campaign. Their smear campaign will happen too, so that people will know the truth and distinguish which of (?) and the right one speaks closer to Allah. Without evil, good is not known.

They will do their job and guide the wicked. And we will guide the good with the word of the Truth. The good and the wicked will prove themselves by the actual deeds they do. An example: like Allah Almighty's permission to the devil. He too, He says, will lead those who want evil. He will give them (?) so that by their actual deeds they show themselves what kind of people they are. Well, (?) whom will He show to those who turn to the Truth? The scholars; with His verses they will guide them. Those people too, ruling themselves by Allah's knowledge, will prove themselves by actual deeds in the way of Allah.

So the good and the wicked, meanwhile, by the paths that the people at their head have shown them, the others too will carry out their own actual deeds. Here I have a call to people. I say: O people, listen well. Give ear to Allah's verses. In His verse Allah Almighty says: do you not use your minds at all? Use your minds. This is my greatest advice to you. It is a verse of Allah Almighty. Use your minds. You may love the person at your head. If he is taking you to the fire, if you prefer to burn for him, go ahead, the fire is in front of you. Yes, if I am taking you to the fire, if you see that too, then do not listen to me either.

Use your mind: which is right, which is good, apart from love, with the greatest love being for Allah, it is to use your mind and take your place beside Allah's verses. Otherwise, with ideologies, with factions, by causing division: in Surah Ar-Rum, verse 32: do not, by splitting your religion into sects, be among those who split it. Each of them takes pride in what it has, He says. In this case Islam, in this way, has been split into sects; people who are Muslims, as brothers of one another, one does not go to the other's mosque, the other does not go to the other's mosque, and they tear into each other.

Is this leadership now, the person at the head guiding those people? These talks of ours offend people. I say: you who follow such people, use your minds; if you have let yourselves be drawn into a whirlpool, Allah's verses are above your heads like the winch a helicopter has lowered to rescue you; hold on to it. Hold on so that you escape that whirlpool. Hold on to that verse of Allah so that you are saved. Otherwise your life passes in that whirlpool. And you enter among those who wrong their own selves and join those who have no share in the world of the hereafter.

I call out again. Use your minds with Allah's verse. I always say it. Pay attention to this.

Here the meaning emerges that, since Islam will deal with Allah's justice, the people He created, in order to find salvation on earth, are obliged to be honored with the light of Islam. For the people He created to find life on earth, they are obliged to be honored with Islam. Within the obligation of being honored with Islam, one is obliged to be ruled by Allah's commands. What is it? Islam is brotherhood. A brother cannot tear into his brother. A brother cannot dig a pit for his brother. Look what even the proverb says. A brother may throw his brother, but he holds him at the edge of the cliff.

There is not even a cliff edge here. You go from there down into an abyss. With what? By splitting your religion into sects. By getting caught up in ideologies. Yes. You may follow Ahmet. I am not saying anything. You may follow Mehmet too. You may follow Hasan, Hüseyin. But the path must be one. Your path must be one. If the paths part, if it is 'you for you, me for me', this is what Islam does not command, where unity and togetherness are broken; people who, beside the followers of those who work to adapt their own ideologies to people with commands outside the religion of Islam, mortgage their minds to them, drag themselves to ruin.

Yes.

That is so. We say it. Look, we pass through the verses like this, but the meanings are deep. The meanings are deep.

Yes.

Allah Almighty, while letting people live in this world, provides the people He created with every kind of sustenance, gives them a life and does not torment them; and yet He does not want any of the people He created to torment any other. People too. Whether Muslim, non-Muslim, polytheist, idolater, or fire-worshipper, or devil-worshipper, whoever they may be, on earth none of them has the right to oppress any other. Why? They have no right.

Allah Almighty made a covenant with people in the covenant of Elestü bi-rabbiküm. He gave everyone their own wishes and desires as their destiny. Since no one can change anyone's destiny, according to the verse Leküm dînüküm veliye dîn: your religion is yours and my religion is mine. Despite that, did you think you would die without proving what kind of person you are, according to the verse? If every person is to prove what kind of person he is through his own actual deeds, by making himself a witness over himself, to those around and to Allah, you have no right to torment him. You have no right to oppress this person either.

Yes, these are the beautiful sides of Islam.

Everyone makes himself a witness through the deeds he does. Yes, what are we saying?

He makes everyone a witness over himself through the deeds he does. Since the questioning and reckoning of people's deeds and of the rewards and sins they earned for them belongs to Allah Almighty, their accounts will be settled on that Day of Reckoning, in the world of the hereafter, in the presence of Allah Almighty. No one can call anyone to account here. People's actual deeds belong to Allah Almighty. Well, how is one called to account here? You have been given a duty. In return for that duty you will be paid a wage. If you do not do your duty, he calls you to account. Why didn't you do it?

That is separate. But in our worship of our Lord, or because you are a non-Muslim, because you do not worship Allah, we do not have the right to oppress him.

Since jihad with knowledge does not oppress people, Muslims must know their religion well and wage jihad against the enemies of Islam. Otherwise those who are enemies of Islam, by denigrating the religion of Islam to Muslims, by making Islam adopt the filth and immorality of the human nafs, by making their own false beliefs loved, with gilded words like modern understanding and enlightenment, corrupt people's decency and morals and pull them out of Islam. Yes. To maintain their dominion over those who are Muslims through their false ways, and in the world to carry out every kind of deed that comes to their mind with people who think like them, for this reason they are enemies of Islam.

Dear Muslim, he who has deified his nafs, (?) it, he has become, before Islam, a (?), a characterless person, so out of the pride and arrogance of his carnal feelings he feels humiliated before this dignified and honorable character of Islam. To be rid of this (?) feeling, he pulls you toward his own filth. He shows you those filths (?). The two-legged devil, that is the taghut, drawing people after him in a way that would outdo the devil, and then over them, corrupting decency and manners immorally, satisfying his own nafs. Using them, those people, for his own interests. Now I call out to those Muslims who, being Muslims yet envying the indecent, immoral, shameless deeds of that kafir, that non-Muslim, expose all their private parts in public; I call out to them.

Will you allow such a base person, gripped by such a complex, being humiliated before your dignity and the light of Islam, in order to take advantage of you and get on top of you, to make himself look attractive to you with carnal feelings and satisfy his own filth upon you?

So use your mind! Do not envy their lavish lives! Use your mind! Yes, Allah does not command indecency, immorality and oppression.

For this reason, so that people do not commit immorality, calling all Muslims to build up the world in knowledge, science and technology, calling them to build up the world, in the verse: build up your world. Perhaps, He says, they will fear you and become Muslims, or else, He says, because they fear you, sir, you will be at ease, says Allah Almighty. So build up your world, in technology, in science, in civilization; there is no religion as progressive as Islam. But immorally their own nafs, as I said a moment ago, gripped by an inferiority complex before Islam's dignity,

exploiting the shameless state of the human nafs, two-legged taghuts, outdoing the devil, pulling these poor Muslims in their own direction, bring forth their own indecent and immoral (?) upon them.

These people have also forgotten their own dignity, equipped with that light of faith, forgotten their sublimity beside their Lord, envying that swamp and the zaqqum that blooms in the swamp, taking that zaqqum as the most beautiful rose in the world and trying to take their place beside it, poor Muslims.

Yes, so if Allah Almighty does not command immorality and indecency for people, if He commands decency and manners, then, calling to build up the world in knowledge, science and technology, against those who would oppress people, He commands Muslims to be in a state of readiness. How beautiful. Islam gives you life. Today those who call Islam 'irtica', reaction, those who shout at the top of their voices that the republic is being lost. Today they see that neither the republic is being lost, nor Islam, shouting or irtica. The real reaction, the real reaction is the very people who live outside Islam.

How beautifully Allah Almighty puts it. The believer is the mirror of the believer. The mirror of man. When he looks at Islam, he sees himself in the Muslim.

If Allah Almighty has given a person honor and dignity, made that person honorable, in past ages, even those idolaters who did not know Allah, ashamed of their daughters, when they buried them alive in the earth,

so as not to let them be used like a rag in other people's houses and melt away like soap foam, those people buried them in the earth. Today those fathers are gone. These children, those fathers' children, letting themselves be used by others like a rag, melting like soap foam in their hands, these poor people, by the actual deeds they do, annul their fathers too, annul their mothers too. Parading them like that, showing that they have courage against Allah's enemies by taking (?) beside them. And putting themselves among the civilized, enlightened class, with their false beliefs, with their false thoughts, people who see themselves as enlightened by candlelight within certain darkness.

By candlelight.

Those who do not see the truths, whose eyes are blind. Hatemallâhu alâ kulûbihim ve alâ sem'ihim ve alâ ebsârihim gışâveh, ve lehüm azâbun azîm.

Yes.

Think well.

On earth Islam does not want any person to suffer oppression. Today, people who have moved away from Islam, who live immorally, who fall into depression, who commit suicide, are there not?

Many.

Little by little the obligations of the religion of Islam are disappearing; within their own understanding, their laws they are establishing. What does it mean, these people who establish their laws within their own understanding? Those who set the laws of their own lives in the way their nafs likes, who establish them. These neither escape oppression in the world, and in the hereafter they wrong their own selves.

Yes. He commands Muslims to be ready. For what? For war. And one duty: be ready for war, if you want peace and well-being, he says. Who says this? Atatürk says it. Be ready for war, if you want peace and well-being. Yes, for this reason the Muslim, along with obeying Allah, will also work very hard for his world, so that people may be an example to people. And people, taking them as an example, may find life. Apart from those among the Muslims who have an excuse, those who sit and those who strive with their wealth and lives are not equal. Allah Almighty has raised those who strive with their wealth and lives above those who sit.

Is the one who works ever held equal to the one who does not?

Are those who strive, one in the way of Allah with his wealth, another with both wealth and life, or those without wealth with their lives, held equal? The one who suffers hardship running from border to border, the one who if necessary sacrifices his life in the way of Allah, of course he is not equal to the one who sits at home. These mujahids are far above those who sit at home in rank. Allah Almighty has promised Paradise to everyone who says Allah, who is a Muslim. There are good things for them too. But the mujahids have been raised above those who sit with a very great reward.
