Tafsir
Whoever obeys the Prophet sent by Allah, obeys Allah Himself. Allah (swt) has sent mankind to a realm of the unseen. In this unseen realm, He has sent Prophets and Books to introduce Himself to people and to inform them of His commands. Whoever believes in the Prophets and the Books sent by Allah, believes in Allah and obeys Him. (No Prophet invites people to himself.) According to this verse, those who accept and obey the invitation of the Prophets, obey Allah and find the truth and the right path. Allah (swt) has given people the gift of reason. With this gift of reason, people know the existence of Allah. But because of their stubbornness and rebellion, people do not obey Allah and His Messenger and turn away from Him.
(As for those who turn away, We have not sent you as a guard over them.) Allah (swt) invites people to guidance and truth through His Messengers. He never holds anyone responsible for the deeds of others. Everyone is responsible to Allah (swt) for their own actions.
All beings were created from the light of the Holy Prophet (vema erselnake illa rahmeten lil alemindir.) All beings were created from the light of the Holy Prophet and human beings were created from his spirit. Since the Holy Prophet was created before the creation of beings, he is a mercy to the worlds. In this respect, Allah (swt) explains in this verse that since he is the last Khateem Nabi (the Prophet whose Prophethood ends and no more Prophets will come), he will not be responsible for people turning away from the guidance.
O Messenger of Allah! We have not sent you as a watchman over them. (A watchman is one who is responsible for what is entrusted to him.) If he had said, "We have sent you as a watchman over them," he would have been responsible for the people who did not convert to Islam and it would have been emphasized that he did not perform his duty properly. We have not sent you as a watchman over them, you are not responsible for them. Because We have made a covenant with every human soul. We have written in the soul of every human being their own desires and wills as destiny, and no one can change them. It says in a Verse (You cannot wish unless We wish). These Verses will be revealed to you when they come. Everyone is responsible for himself. Your duty is only to convey the message.
What is said in the video
At verse 80 of Surah An-Nisa we had stopped. Yes.
Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah. As for whoever turns away, We did not send you as a guard over them, says Allah Almighty. How beautifully He says it. This is the question İsmet asked. Lekum dînukum ve liye dîn. They to that, these to this. No one is anyone's guard. He asked just now, didn't he? Is there coercion in religion? Is there violence? Is there (?)? No. No (?). There is a (?). Yes. The verses always confirm one another anyway. No verse contradicts another verse. That is impossible. Yes, yes, if there is a scholar who knows the verses, then, gathered under the light of the verses, the word from his mouth comes out not just in line with one verse but in line with many verses, in the same beam, in light, and it shows the way.
Otherwise, if the person has no wisdom, he understands one verse as far as he understands Arabic, by his own reasoning, and the other verse by his own reasoning too. Then he looks between the two: there is a contradiction. This one says this, that one says that. Yet it was he himself who explained it that way. The verses don't say that. The verses show him a very beautiful way. Yes.
Whoever obeys the prophet Allah sent has obeyed Allah Himself.
Of course. Whoever obeys Allah's prophet obeys Allah. Now, the state has laws. The state, with its laws, informs us. When we show (?) to those laws, we live within this state, within those laws. Because we don't go against them, we live freely. And within the laws Allah Almighty sent us, if we obey Him, some messengers convey those laws to us, and if we obey those laws, we have believed not in the messenger but in Allah. And accepting in our hearts the messenger He sent as a messenger, we have believed in him too. If we believe in the book He sent as Allah's book, as religious rulings, that is, if we trust it, we have believed in it too.
So believing in Allah, His messengers and His books means having faith. It means believing in Allah. Yes, if a person denies one of these, if he does not believe in the Messenger, since he does not fulfil Allah's command, he leaves the religion of Islam. If he deliberately denies any verse in the book Allah sent, since he excludes Allah's verse, since he turns his back on it, he again leaves the religion of Islam. Yes.
Allah Almighty sent people to an unseen world. That is, Allah Almighty sent us to a world where His Essence is not seen. Now, what was His purpose in sending us? We always say it. At the address 'Elestü bi Rabbiküm', where the souls, the souls were created, in the place we call the realm of Lahut, when He said 'I am your Lord', and because people saw Allah Almighty as close, close to themselves, because they saw Him in human form, they did not believe in Him; they waited for the Lord of their own imagination. Allah Almighty is free of deficient attributes. Pay close attention here. Free of deficient attributes.
Allah has the attribute of being God. He brings forth every event that could cross people's minds, so that people have not a single question left to ask Allah. This is Allah's attribute of being God. So, because of that close creation, because those people saw our Lord in human form, so that they would not say: how would I know, You created me; had You sent me to an unseen world, we would have known You there and worshipped You, He creates these worlds. And since He holds people answerable to His Essence, without coercion or pressure He gives them their destinies within their own will, and sends to the world those whose time has come.
Now, He says, that place closes; it is in the brain, in the memory. That world closes; you start from zero in this world. And Allah Almighty states His duty and fulfils it. With what? With prophets, scholars, books, He announces it all to people, and according to the verse: unless We have made it known to you, We call no one to account. Bringing us and settling us in this unseen world, that is, in a world where His Essence is unseen, He has His scholars address us. What does He say? O people! Apart from your Lord who created you, who created these worlds and created you, there is no god. Never turn your backs on the prophets and books He sent, and never invent lies against Allah.
Never deify your own nafs against the truth and try to throw falsehood upon the truth. Allah Almighty (?) these to people, is trying to make them heard, and He brings us to an unseen world, that is, a world where He is not seen, where His Essence is not seen. In this unseen world, to introduce and make known His Essence to people, He has sent prophets and books. Yes, as we explained, whoever believes and has faith in the prophets and the books Allah sent has believed in Allah and obeyed Him. Because for him his Lord's command is to be gladly obeyed. 'I have learned from the heart what You sent; I am content.' Not with the tongue.
You may say it with the tongue while your heart does not confirm it. The condition of faith: you declare with your tongue and confirm with your heart. If you declare with your tongue and deny with your heart, you become a hypocrite. Yes. Confirmation by the heart is required. 'But Hodja, I believe, yet I have doubts.' That may be. Everyone has doubt. Why? It is an unseen world. Until one rises to believer, to the nafs al-mutmainna, there is doubt in a person. When (?), then that doubt disappears. So even if there is that doubt, since you start from zero in a world where your Lord is unseen, you accept the religion of Islam: Allah exists, the hereafter exists, even if you doubt; if you perform your prayer, keep your fast, go on your pilgrimage, then even if you cannot become a believer, you still, because you submit to your Lord's command, go upon the disposition of Islam, attaining your Lord's mercy.
Yes. And when will this world open? It will open when the soul reaches the throat; when the door of repentance closes, you will see the world of the hereafter. The world of the hereafter. Then, because you saw the truth and heeded the truth, because you submitted to Allah, you will go to the world of the hereafter in peace. But those (?), when they see that place, what do they say? My Allah, send me back once more. See how I will worship You. He says: if We sent you back not once but several times more, you would do the same again. Why? Because those are your characters; according to those characters those desires and wishes will arise.
And Allah Almighty, without coercing anyone, without lifting those people's will from them, within people's own partial will, with the decisions they (?), within the actual deeds they will do, they will again, according to their own characters, earn reward and sin and prove to themselves what kind of people they are.
Yes, pay attention, all the verses always confirm one another; everything we explain is always within each other. A whole, a beam of light, a beam of light, and such a beam of light that does not scatter, it always removes the dangers in front of you, it lights up your surroundings. Some events that people cannot see, your Lord makes known to you by unveiling or by inspiration. And in this world and the hereafter He makes you flourish. He keeps you under His mercy in a way He will be pleased with. And peace begins in that person. Peace is in Islam. You will find that peace. To find that peace, you will submit to your Lord wholeheartedly.
Once you submit to your Lord wholeheartedly, you will pray, you will fast, you will give your zakat, you will go on pilgrimage, (?) you will do it. That is, you will long for your Lord. Yes.
No prophet invites people to himself. Yes. In this verse, according to (?), whoever answers the prophets' call and obeys has found the truth and the right path. Just as no prophet invites people to himself, he does not readily speak from his own whim either. Except the Prophet.
Except the Prophet (peace be upon him). Why? About no prophet is there 'he does not speak idly'; only about the Prophet (peace be upon him) do they say 'he does not speak idly'; therefore his speech is hadith, hadith, that is, the counterpart of the verses. So with some prophets, in their human capacity, according to their own reasoning, a little, it seems they do speak; but the Prophet never; everything he says is hadith. But no prophet, this is certain, invites people to himself or speaks from the whims of the nafs, from the whims of the nafs. Allah Almighty has given people a blessing of reason, the blessing of reason; with this blessing of reason people know Allah's existence, but out of their stubbornness and rebellion people do not obey Allah and the Messenger He sent.
Because the whims of the nafs, man's worldly interests, the nafs following Satan, and Satan whispering pleasant temptation to the nafs and keeping it busy, please man.
In this case people turn away from Allah Almighty. They turn (?) their backs. So what does Allah Almighty say about them? (?), He says.
Yes.
As for those who turn their faces away, that is, those who turn their backs on Allah Almighty: We did not send you as a guard over them. How beautifully Allah Almighty says it.
Had He said 'We sent you as a guard over people', the Prophet would have been responsible for all people. What is a guard? A guard protects and watches over what is entrusted to him. If he cannot protect and watch over it, his guarding is no guarding. Had He said 'I sent you as a guard over people', he would have been responsible even for non-Muslims. How beautiful our Lord's word is. What does it say? Look, let's read this. As for those who turn their faces away, We did not send you as a guard over them. Allah Almighty, through the prophets He sent, has people invited to guidance and truth. Never does He hold anyone, for the deeds people do, responsible for one another.
Everyone is responsible to Allah Almighty for his own deeds.
The Prophet... All beings were created from the light of the Prophet, and people from his soul. Since the Prophet, before the beings were created, was created, he is a mercy to the worlds. Therefore, as the last, the Seal of the Prophets, ending prophethood, after whom no prophet will ever come, for people turning their faces away from guidance he bears no responsibility, as Allah Almighty explains in this verse. If they turn their faces away, I did not leave you as a guard over them. Everyone, in proportion to the covenant he gave Me, by his own wishes and desires, had his own aim written as his destiny.
In this case you are only a conveyor to them, He says. My Beloved, even if they are your loved ones, you cannot make the deaf hear, He says. Yes.
O My Beloved, We did not send you as a guard over them. We said a guard is the person responsible for what is entrusted to him. The one responsible. Had He said 'We sent you as a guard over them', for those who did not enter Islam he would have been responsible too.
Yes, he would be responsible for people who did not enter Islam too. It would be stressed that he did not do his duty as required. We did not send you as a guard over them; you are not responsible for them. Because We made a covenant with every soul at Kalu Bela. To every person's soul, his own wishes and desires as destiny We wrote. No one can change these. This verse: in a verse He declares, if We do not will, you cannot will. In this verse, when the verses come, it will be opened to you. So everyone is responsible for himself. Your duty is only to convey, (?) my friend. The verse 'If We do not will, you cannot will'.
If I tell you something that happened in the time of the Prophet, it will be understood better. If We cannot will, you cannot will. The verse will be understood better. Khalid ibn al-Walid and Amr ibn al-As were commanders of the polytheists. At Uhud, Khalid ibn al-Walid, as a polytheist commander, turned the battle that had been won in his own favour. After Khalid ibn al-Walid became Muslim, Amr ibn al-As too comes to the Prophet and pledges allegiance. When he pledged allegiance,
pledging allegiance means taking his hand. He pledged allegiance to him. He pulls his hand back. Amr ibn al-As. He stretches it out again. He pulls it back again.
And when he stretched it out again, after his (?) hand came out, he then takes the Prophet's hand, of course. He pledges allegiance. (?) says this to Amr ibn al-As. Why, he says? Once or twice you stretched out your hand, stretched it out and pulled it back, he says. You stretched it out, stretched it out, pulled it back. O brother, he says. I was going to say to the Prophet, he says,
that in the times you were a polytheist, the sins you committed, just as Allah Almighty, by your entering Islam, forgave them, I was going to ask that my future sins be forgiven too, he says. I just couldn't remember it, he says. That my future sins be forgiven too, he says. (?) immediately recites the verse. It says: if We do not will, you cannot will. The verse. That is, with Us is a book, in the Preserved Tablet it is preserved. According to the verse in which He says nothing is later added to it nor taken from it, people's wishes, desires and aims, as their destiny, were written. Now there is no power that can change this destiny, He says.
But what about My willing? Because I wrote it, He says. I wrote it. What about My willing? If We do not will, you cannot will. Your strength, power and might are not enough to change it. Only Mine, He says, suffices. But a word also came forth from Us.
After that, nothing is added and nothing is taken away. What happened happened; the worlds were set up and programmed. Therefore, even if such (?) come to people's minds, only about the Prophet (peace be upon him) does Allah Almighty say: your future sins too I have forgiven. Your future sins. So do people think everything they wish will be given to them, He says. So in this case, do you think everything we wish will happen? If it is outside our destiny, it is impossible. If it is within our destiny, it will come about. Yes.
