Translation

Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture? They believe in idols and false deities and for those who deny, they say, “they are on a straighter path than those who believe.”

Tafsir

Those who have been given a portion of the Book. Have you not seen those to whom the Book was sent from Allah and His Messenger? The meaning here is that Allah (swt) made the Prophet (s.a.w.) alive. Before the Prophet (PBUH) entered the world, while he was still in the Hereafter, Allah (swt) showed the Prophet (PBUH) some events that took place in the world according to His will. In this respect, He says the verse, "Did you not see? He also says, "Did you not see how people, those who had the Book, worshipped idols after the Prophet (PBUH) was born? Did you not see how they disbelieved in the Prophets and the Books which I sent with you, and how they believed in the idols which they made with their hands, associating them with Allah?

According to the previous verse (What will become of them when I have made every nation a witness and you a witness to them), since our Prophet Muhammad (s. a.w.) will be a witness to the Prophets of these nations, Allah (swt) will also be a witness to the Prophets of these nations, and Allah (swt) will be a witness to their polytheism against Allah (swt), and Allah (swt) will be a witness to the Prophets of these nations.Since Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be a witness to the Prophets of these nations, Allah (swt) will show the polytheism of these nations by holding Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a witness.

(They believe in idols and their false beliefs and what they have invented.) They are enemies of Allah and His religion, so they worship idols made by their own hands, worshipping Allah's creatures, associating shirk with Allah. At the same time, how they believe in their own words, which they have invented, which are false, by making changes in the Books sent to them by Allah with their own hands according to their own minds, and trying to make themselves and others believe that they came to them from Allah.

(Then they say of the disbelievers that they are on a more right path than those who believe in Allah). When a man becomes a laughingstock in the hands of the ego and Satan, he will be miserable and despised. And those who worship Allah's creatures as gods, and then believe in Allah, the Owner of the property, say of those who are in the ranks of the disbelievers, that is, those of the People of the Book who have turned their backs on Allah and His Messenger, and the idolaters, the polytheists, in their hatred and rebellion, that they are on a more right path than those who believe in Allah. They themselves do not believe this, nor do people of sound mind. Even the devils laugh at them, and they are mocked and ridiculed as the masks of the nafs and the devil.

When Ka'b bin al-Ashraf, a member of the People of the Book, came to Mecca from Madinah al-Munawwarah, he incited the polytheists of Mecca against Prophet Muhammad and the Muslims and called them to fight against the Muslims. Meanwhile, the polytheists of Mecca asked Ka'b bin Ashraf. When they asked Ka'b bin Ashraf, "Is our religion true or Muhammad's religion, which of us is on the right path?" he replied, "Your religion is the right path". That is why this verse was revealed.

What is said in the video

Surah An-Nisa, verse 51. Have you not seen those who were given a share of the Book? They believe in idols and in falsehood, in what they invented. Then they say of the disbelievers: these are on a more right path than those who believe in Allah. Yes, that is, the same kind of heads, Allah, who created the worlds, besides whom there is no god,

who is the Owner of the Throne surrounded by Arshullah, the absolute Ruler of all that is created, from the atom to the globe — Allah they abandon. About Allah's creatures, those imaginings of theirs, against Allah, who is the Truth, they say of the idolaters: these are on a more right path, they say. one laughs, truly one feels like laughing — such a mind, what pride, what arrogance. They too have reason, and a reason that knows Me — that is, I was created — it knows this anyway; if it did not know, would it bring that imagined lord into the idols and worship it? We, it says, do not worship this, we worship the spirit inside it, it says.

That is, we worship the Lord, it says. What?

Those who were given a share of the Book. That is, have you not seen those to whom a Book was sent from Allah and His Messenger? Here, from 'have you not seen', the meaning is 'have you not seen'. Allah Almighty has made the Prophet (peace be upon him) alive. Before the Prophet (peace be upon him) graced the world, while he was still in the hereafter, Allah Almighty, as far as He willed, showed the Prophet (peace be upon him) some events that took place in the world. In some places it says: remember. Right? That is, before he came into the world (?), He showed him the events concerning past peoples.

This too is anyway Allah Almighty's (?) — did you put it in? Okay. Now, it is the proof that He made the Prophet (?). He is the sultan of both worlds.

The sultan of the created. Of both worlds.

Yes.

Have you not seen how they deny the Books I sent with the prophets and with you, and how, by associating with Allah the idols they made with their hands, they believe in them — so He declares.

Yes.

As we said in the previous verse: for every community a witness — and when I make you a witness over them, what will their state be, it says. For every community a witness, that is, He sent a prophet to every people, and when I make you a witness over those prophets, what will their state be, it says.

Even if they deny the prophets of their own peoples, Allah is witness to His prophets and the Prophet will be witness to the prophets. In that case, the deeds every person did will be written in his own record. What he has done, the life he has lived will pass before his eyes within a few seconds, and he will find no word to say to Allah Almighty about His divinity. In that case, what will their state be?

Let me tell you with the verses. They, it says, will confess their crimes. When they realize they will enter Hell, their eyes, it says, sky-blue, will pop out, and they will throw themselves face down on the ground, it says. So We, it says, will have them seized by their forelocks and thrown in through a narrow gate of Hell, it says. Yes.

According to the verse, the Beloved of the Almighty, Hz. Muhammad (peace be upon him), who will testify for those prophets, will be witness to the prophets of these communities; therefore Allah Almighty, that these communities associated partners with Allah, associated, Allah Almighty will show, holding Hz. Muhammad (peace be upon him) as witness. Yes. May I ask something? Go ahead. — In the previous verse, Hodja, our Lord says 'he remembers', right, to the Prophet. In the previous verse, yes. Yes. — Is this from the Prophet witnessing events before worldly life even existed? Or from his witnessing events with his being alive after worldly life? — No.

Before coming into the world, first of all, before coming into the world, to what happens in the world, as far as our Lord permitted, He made him a witness. He showed him. So: remember, it says, the past. Remember. That is: I had shown them to you, it says. This situation. The future he will see anyway, alive. Alive. He will see the future. In this case the Prophet, as far as Allah Almighty permitted, is a witness to those in the past. Through His saying 'remember'.

We are saying it anyway. What does it say? For every community a witness, and when I make you a witness over them, what will their state be?

According to the verse, the one who will testify for those prophets, the Beloved of the Almighty, the Seal of the Prophets, Hz. Muhammad (peace be upon him), will be witness to the prophets of these communities; therefore Allah Almighty, that these communities associated partners with Allah, Allah Almighty will show, holding Hz. Muhammad (peace be upon him) as witness. Now in this case, Allah Almighty, who created the Prophet first of all, sending him as the last of the prophets to this world, perfecting his religion, exalting his glory, the validity of his religion's ruling until the Day of Judgment, and our Lord's light that the Prophet brought, that is, the Holy Quran that our Lord gave to the Prophet, that proof, the light He holds before us — until the Day of Judgment, by keeping the Prophet's religion standing, it is in order to exalt his glory.

In this case, to the prophets who came into the world, if he is to be a witness to the prophets, (?) there is witnessing. Allah makes no one bear false witness about what he has not seen. Pay close attention. Our Lord makes no one bear witness to what He has not shown him. In this case, if the Prophet (peace be upon him) is to be a witness to the past prophets, he will know how they struggled among their peoples and come as a witness to them. Well, Hodja, did we see, that we bear witness? Eşhedü en lâ ilâhe illallah ve eşhedü enne Muhammeden abdühû ve resûlühû. Did we see, Hodja? By Allah we saw, by Allah we saw.

Where? (?) from the verse. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Ve iz ehaze rabbüke min benî âdeme min zuhûrihim zürriyyetehüm ve eşhedehüm alâ enfüsihim, elestü bi rabbiküm. We made a covenant with those who would come forth from the offspring of the children of Adam, so that they would not say: we knew nothing of this. That is, We said: We are your Lord, it says. 'We are your Lord' — shall I say 'am I not'? Don't you look at that grammar, grammar. Is it grammar — shall I say 'am I not'? Its original is: We are your Lord. Elest. 'We are your Lord' is a definite command. You know, there are those who know grammar too well.

They go on making things up like that. Like this they saw each other, they cannot step on each other's tails. Because they will change. Even if they know the truth, they all have a force on one another that keeps them from speaking the truth. Why? Because they do not know the truth. Yes. Now in this case, all spirits are in three groups. All (?) three groups that do not come together. Those of the right, those of the left, and the middle class. Ve ashâbü'l-meymeneti mâ ashâbü'l-meymeneh — those of the right. Ve ashâbü'l-meş'emeti mâ ashâbü'l-meş'emeh — those of the left. The 3rd group, the group of the Sabiqun, the group of the martyrs, the shuada, the saints, the prophets.

Here is a hadith for you: Allah created the spirits in twilight. He scattered something of His light upon them. Whoever took from that light found his way. Whoever could not take from that light lost his way, went astray. A twilight. You see those spirits at the very front, that is, those people. You also see the one at the very back. This is the realm of Lahut. The place where the spirits were created. Suddenly there is a giving of life by Allah Almighty. There, the Prophet is beside Him, beside Allah Almighty, and our Lord, to all His creatures: I am your Lord, I created you, I created you, and the Prophet is striving: yes, this is our Lord, obey Him — so, the verse, the testimony: Eşhedü en lâ ilâhe illallah, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.

Ve eşhedü enne Muhammeden abdühü ve resulühü. Hz. Muhammad is His servant and messenger. Gentlemen, we saw, we saw. But in this world it was closed to us. Those worlds. We have that memory. When will it open? When the soul reaches the throat and the door of repentance closes, that world will open. Then you will see. It is just like a password you give a computer. If you cannot give that password, you cannot open it. You open that password in two ways. One: by remembering your Lord, continuing your worship, asking Allah for pardon and forgiveness, getting up at night for tahajjud prayers, paying attention to the lawful and the unlawful,

by benefiting from the worship you do, you make a (?) exit back the way you came. You see it. Second: if you cannot see those places, when the soul reaches the throat, when the door of repentance closes, you will see. Yes.

So when we pronounce the testimony of faith, our Lord does not have us pronounce the testimony of faith for something we have not seen. And do not attribute qualities to Allah. Do not say we did not see. This testimony of faith is proof that you saw your Lord. Allah is free from deficient attributes. You did not make a covenant with an unseen Allah. You saw your Lord, and He has you bear witness. Allah — what am I saying? — is free from deficient attributes. Never say: I did not see my Lord. Eşhedü en lâ ilâhe illallah. I bear witness. There is no god but Allah. Ve eşhedü enne Muhammeden abdühû ve resûlühû.

Hz. Muhammad is His servant and messenger. And he was beside Him. I saw, Hodja. By Allah I saw. By Allah I saw. In this world too, I saw it in the spiritual realm. I swear, look. I saw. I know that world well. Otherwise let me not be of the lineage of Hz. Ali. What does Hz. Ali say? I know the hereafter as I know today.

Yes. We are the children of that lineage. I too know the hereafter, as far as I know it.

Here an outburst always wells up from within. At those who know Arabic grammar. An outburst wells up at them. How learned those translators supposedly are. Those who answer the verses backwards. You can only act as translators.

And as a result of that translation, whether you translated correctly or translated wrongly, that I know. So in the translation you made, we picked out 400-odd mistakes like this. Now, if your grammar is valid, Allah (?) created the jinn and humans for Hell. Here we come. Look. Whatever page you open.

From Us, it says. Our mercy reaches whoever asks. This is the correct one.

In verse 241. I'll read this once. I'll go past it anyway. We keep calling out to those grammarians like this, you know.

Yes.

Verse 56. And thus We gave Joseph authority in the land to act there as he wished. We extend Our mercy to whomever We will, it says. Allah Allah. We extend Our mercy to whomever We will, it says. My Allah, I am Your servant. Why did You not extend Your mercy to me too? Now isn't this attributing qualities? Isn't this attributing qualities to Allah? Isn't this making a distinction among Allah's servants? Go on, say it doesn't. Say it doesn't. How does it not? If He wrote everyone's own wishes and deeds as their aim, their aim as their destiny, and if Allah removed these destinies, people's wishes and desires, from them and used His own will over that person, then Allah Almighty, according to this verse — God forbid, may Allah protect us — according to those grammarians here who know Arabic so well, you know, isn't that attributing qualities to Allah?

What does it say? We extend Our mercy to whomever We will. And We do not let the reward of those who do good go to waste. Now look. How they contradicted each other! What does it say? We do not let the reward of those who do good go to waste. We give whomever We will whatever We want. (?) look now, look at the verse, look, and thus We gave Joseph authority in the land to act there as he wished; We extend Our mercy to whoever asks of Us, and We do not let the reward of those who do good go to waste. Now, this one or that one? Go ahead, gentlemen grammarians. Yes, I don't know Arabic. I say it again, I don't know Arabic.

But next to me you are a translator. A translator. You can only translate. Whether you translated correctly, I know, because I have the knowledge of Allah. And in my heart those verses are manifest. The verses have wisdom. If it were not so, I would know neither the hadith nor the verse, nor could I answer what you say. A grasshopper jumps once, jumps twice, on the third it is caught, the grasshopper. Yes.

These, because they are enemies of Allah and His religion, by associating partners with Allah, believing in Allah Almighty's creatures, they worship the idols they made with their hands. Because they are enemies of Allah. The whole matter ends at that address: Elestü bi Rabbiküm. That alone is enough anyway.

So we thought you, you know, those grammarians, those literal translators, knew something. We dealt with it superficially. Superficially. Because we dealt with it superficially, we said they are versed in these verses. The sky We built with Our own hands. Be patient with your Lord's judgment, for you are before Our eyes. As a reward for the one who had been denied, the ship sailed on before Our eyes. In the presence of the mighty and exalted Allah, they are in the assemblies of truth, they, those God-fearing ones, let me tell you. Here we come now. Allah: O Iblis! What prevented you from prostrating to what I created with My two hands?

But those who fear their Lord's punishment without having seen it, in this world. Do they have feet to walk with, or hands to hold with, or eyes to see with, or ears to hear with — what do they have, it says. So that spirit — listen well. That spirit is the universal spirit. Allah Almighty — the spirit is not Gabriel. That spirit is the universal spirit. It is Allah Almighty. (?) to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) (?). From his spirit He created the spirits of the prophets. Well, because He gave him the spirit, is there a verse?

There is.

Look now.

What does it say here?

They ask you about the spirit; say: it is a command of my Lord.

Surah An-Nisa, verse 171. Let's open it. In what I wrote, you know — you say I wrote it myself, God forbid. From the Diyanet's book. From the translator's book. Surah An-Nisa, verse 171. Look what it says. O People of the Book! Do not go to excess in your religion. And do not say about Allah anything but the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, is only the Messenger of Allah. He is the command of the word kun, that is, 'be', that Allah conveyed to Mary. He is a spirit from Him. Is that enough for you? Is it enough for you? He is a spirit from Him. But look what the translator writes again.

What does the translator write? The Christians never came to belief in Allah's oneness and tawhid; they did not separate Allah and His Prophet from each other. Although Moses and Jesus brought the belief in tawhid to the People of the Book, in this community that later went astray, despite the Seal of the Prophets' sound and illuminating explanations, most of them said father and son, it says. And in one place, about Jesus, that spirit — did an angel bring it, it says. Or is it something else, it says. It is not known, it says. The spirit. Is it an angel or something else? Did an angel bring it? Or Gabriel breathed it.

Gabriel breathed it. So translators cannot open up these verses.

I say it once more. These verses are not the translators' business.

You know we wrote the commentary, this commentary. There are those who investigate where I got this from.

It is not the business of the people of this age to write this commentary. Yes.

Here we come. We return to our lesson again.

Where? Had we left off at verse 51? Yes: have you not seen those who were given a share of the Book? Idols, right? Yes, we left off here. We continue.

They believe in idols and in their false beliefs, in what they invented. Because these are enemies of Allah and His religion, by associating partners with Allah, believing in Allah Almighty's creatures, they worship the idols they made with their hands. At the same time, in the Books sent to them by Allah, making changes with their hands according to their own reason, as if it had come to them from Allah, trying to make themselves and others believe it — how they believe in their own false, invented words. And in this way, how they associate partners with Allah.

Then they say of the disbelievers: these are on an even more right path than those who believe in Allah, they say. Just let a person become a laughingstock, a plaything in the hands of the nafs and Satan.

What is it? Just let a person become a laughingstock, a plaything in the hands of the nafs and Satan. Then for him there is misery and wretched contempt. Those who believe in Allah's creatures as God and worship them; then, regarding those who believe in Allah, the Owner of dominion, those who stand in the ranks of the disbelievers — that is, who are of the People of the Book yet turn their backs on Allah and His Messenger — say that the idolatrous polytheists, in the rebellions of their own identity, are on a more right path than those who believe in Allah, they say.

Neither they themselves believe this, nor do people of sound mind believe it.

Even the devils laugh at this state of theirs; having fallen to being the laughingstock of the nafs and Satan, they are mocked. Even Satan laughs at them. Do you know what Satan says? About these people. Well, my Allah, didn't I tell You? I will sit in the way of Your servants who come to You. I will lead them astray. I will keep them from coming to You. Do You see what I am doing to them? Yes. But what does Allah Almighty say to Satan? Well, Satan, Iblis. If they follow you, then I have given them to you, He says. I have given them to you. Yes. Why did He give them? Why did He give them? Let's see why He gave them.

Yes.

Yes.

Now I could not find the verse, but let me tell you its meaning.

A proof was needed to guide those polytheists, for the polytheists, and a proof was needed for him too, so that his disbelief could be brought out. That is why Allah Almighty gave Iblis authority. Until the Day of Judgment.

Of the People

of the Book, Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf, when he came from Medina the Illuminated to Mecca the Honored, incited the polytheists of Mecca against Muhammad and the Muslims and, together with them, called them to a struggle against the Muslims. Meanwhile the polytheists of Mecca ask Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf: Is our religion the true one, or Muhammad's religion? When they asked which of us is on the right path, he answered: your religion is on the right path. They say this verse was revealed upon this. Yes.
