Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture? They desire that you go astray.
Tafsir
The meaning of those who have been given a portion of the Book is that Allah (swt) sent them Books with verses from the Holy Qur'an piece by piece in a way that people could handle before the religion of Islam. By proving that these Books were from His Essence, Allah (swt) means, O People of the Book or those who were given a portion of the Book, the Books sent by His Essence to guide the people of that time and to teach them what they did not know and to shed light on their path. This is how these people, instead of taking their share from this Book, that is, the Holy Qur'an, and enlightening their paths and learning what they do not know, they are on the path of deviation, defying their Creator, turning their backs on the guidance from Allah, deifying their nafs, following the path shown by their nafs, denying Allah, following the footsteps of Shaytan, following the tagut (that is, following those who are human devils and who lead people away from the path of Allah), and how they buy deviation for guidance.
With their behavior, with their preference for perversion, they do not hesitate to commit all kinds of deeds in order to draw those who are outside their ideology, those who say Allah, those who follow the path shown by Allah, into their ranks and into their perverted path.
Now, if these people were not enemies of Allah, would they have targeted people they do not know, people who say Allah, and would they have dealt with them? So, O you who believe! Know that the people who are dealing with your faith are enemies of Allah, Who created you, and therefore enemies of you, and they will not stop dealing with you until you convert to their religion. Do not compromise with Allah. You will all be returned to Allah in the end. Fear Allah and obey Allah and His Messenger, who will judge between you, who is the owner of the Court of Judgment, who has absolute power, and to whom alone belongs the judgment on that Day, the Day of Reckoning, and obey Allah and His Messenger.
What is said in the video
To those who were given a share of the Book, look at them: they are buying misguidance and they want you, too, to go astray, says Allah Almighty.
By 'those given a share of the Book' Allah Almighty means: before the religion of Islam, in a way people could bear, piece by piece, He sent them books with verses from the Holy Quran. The Gospel, the Torah, the Psalms. Yes. Allah Almighty, proving that these books are from Himself, says 'O People of the Book' or 'those given a share of the Book', and by that He means the books sent by Himself to guide the peoples living at that time and to teach them what they did not know and to light their way, the books sent by Himself. This is the first meaning. The second meaning is wider.
How is it wider? What does He say? 'Look at those given a share of the Book.' This time He is not only speaking of the Torah, the Psalms and the Gospel, He also means the Quran, the Quran. Now the meaning has widened. When He says 'those given a share of the Book', He surely does not only mean them, it goes further, and they follow every stubborn devil without having knowledge, He says. In the verse. And again we see those who open the verses backwards.
We witness them. We see how the knowledge given to them from the Book is turned upside down. We see them give the verse a meaning far from the truth, outside of it, and give it by ascribing attributes to Allah and His Messenger. We see it. We see them giving it a meaning. Yes. He already says: look at those given a share of the Book. They are buying misguidance.
Now, here, if we were to speak about ourselves a little, about ourselves. But pay attention. Never let it occur to you that I am praising myself or anything like that. Our children who have listened to me until now have surely seen and witnessed that I have opposed no verse and opened no verse wrongly. In return for these verses there were those who called us deviant and those who called us a charlatan too. So look at those given a share of the Book; they have read that Book, they know Arabic, and together with Arabic, by ascribing attributes to Allah and His Messenger, how they attack the truth.
What does He say? Look, they are buying misguidance, He says. Here we now feel at peace. Yes.
Allah Almighty, proving that these books are from Himself, says 'O People of the Book' or 'those given a share of the Book', and by that He means the books sent to guide the peoples living at that time and to teach them what they did not know and to light their way, the books sent by Himself. This, we said, is the first meaning. We also explained the second meaning to you apart from this. So these people, instead of taking their share from this Book, that is, from the Holy Quran, lighting their way and learning what they do not know there, defy their Creator, turn their backs on the guidance that comes from Allah, deify their nafs, go the way their nafs shows them, deny Allah, follow the footsteps of Satan, run after the taghut, that is, by becoming human devils and following those who lead people away from Allah's way, reaching the path of misguidance, how they buy misguidance in exchange for guidance.
Through this behaviour, by preferring misguidance, those outside their ideologies, those who say 'Allah', the people advancing on the way Allah has shown, they also want to draw to their own attributes and deviant ways, and for that they do not hold back from any deed.
How beautiful and clear the verse is. Yes, now, if these people were not enemies of Allah, would they ever target people they do not even know, those who say 'Allah', and busy themselves with them? So, O you who believe, know that the people who busy themselves with your faith are enemies of Allah who created you, and therefore enemies of you too, and that until you turn to their religion they will not stop busying themselves with you. Do not compromise on Allah. In the end all of you will be returned to Allah. The One who will judge between you, the Owner of the Great Court, the Absolute Power, whose judgement on that day belongs to Allah alone, the Owner of the Day of Reckoning: fear Allah, obey Allah and His Messenger.
Yes. To those who buy misguidance like this, who want to distort the verses of the Holy Quran, who are hostile to Allah and His Messenger, who attack those people who tell of Allah and His Messenger, never make concessions. Do not stray from your way. Keep on telling of Allah and the Messenger. In the verse our Lord says: among people, let there be those who tell of Allah and the Messenger, He says. Yes. Do not be deceived by these people's attacks. And do not become the target of their aims or of their spears and do not stray from your way. Yes.
