Tafsir
When there is discord between the husband and wife in a family home, and there is a question of their separation, or when things are misunderstood and the husband and wife cannot convince each other, let a committee from the woman's side and a committee from the man's side listen to them. If the listeners, who come as arbitrators, do not intend to separate them, then Allah will bring about an affinity between the husband and wife, and they will return to the joy of their old family home.
In Islam, Allah has given many rights to women. Even though He created women incomplete, He sent laws to protect women in return. However, the enemies of Islam, by showing Muslims that women are oppressed, have started to incite Islamic women against their men and to destroy religious morality. In the meantime, by destroying the family order, they have succeeded in turning people against the commands of Allah and attracting people to their side who will act in their way.
If we list the value Allah gives to women: Allah, who created the man more complete than the woman, has given the man a complete soul, and since He created the woman incomplete, He has given her one-seventh of a soul instead of half a soul compared to the man. In this respect, women can be more self-controlled than men.
Islam makes a woman a property owner by giving her the right to mahr. It provides a comfortable life for her by making her earn a comfortable living or by making people serve her in return for her wealth. The superstitious notion of non-Islamic people that a woman should prepare a drachma for the man she is going to marry, i.e. give him a sum of money that will open a job field for him, has been abolished, and women have been given their proper position and place among human beings.
The woman is already created weak. And by giving a sum of money to the man she is to marry along with her, is she not forced to go through hardships and troubles? Won't the value of the woman become worthless among people? Doesn't a woman who has no money commit immorality to please herself?
In this case, the rich girl who has money will marry and the others will suffer. This is how some ideologies come into being, with people seeing each other as superior to each other because of class differences. However, Allah has not created any of the people superior to each other. Superiority is in the way of Allah, with Allah, and this is between Allah and the servant.
Here are the laws that are contrary to the understanding of Islam and that people who oppose Islam have made according to their minds, and the place of women among men. In primitive times, men used to take advantage of women and then they were pushed aside and condemned to solitude. Now this understanding is the condition and life of people outside Islam. Is this humanity? Is this modern civilization and human rights? Those who aspire to these things are living an outdated life, and they desire a beautiful level of life. Without discriminating between His creatures, without offending their hearts, Allah has protected each of them with different laws, and if He has entrusted one to another, He has imposed many responsibilities on the one who entrusts them. Whether or not to fulfill Allah's commands is also a responsibility for human beings. Those who obey Allah and those who do not obey Allah will give their account to Allah for their rewards and sins.
Allah (swt) says to bring an arbitrator from the woman's side and an arbitrator from the man's side, emphasizing the woman's freedom in the family, that she has a say, that she is not given as a slave to men. In order not to hurt the people who have been handed over to each other, Allah teaches people what they do not know by shedding light on them with His verses. In this case, salvation and salvation can only be achieved by knowing and understanding Islam well and holding fast to the Verses of Allah. Allah is truly All-knowing and All-wise. If only people who seem to be unattended and irresponsible in the world could realize that they are actually under a great responsibility and heavy burden. Despite the fact that every human being who comes to the realm of property is intellectually aware of the existence of Allah, people act in an egoistic manner, chasing after their lusts and competing against Allah's prohibitions. If only people who forget the Day of Reckoning in the Hereafter and enjoy themselves in the worldly world by thinking of making a day of it, could contemplate the fact that Allah knows everything and is aware of everything.
What is said in the video
We come to Surah An-Nisa, verse 35.
If you fear a breach between husband and wife, let an arbiter — a judge, an arbiter — from the man's family, at least two people, and an arbiter from the woman's family be sent. If they want to reconcile them, Allah brings them together. Surely Allah is the one who knows everything and is aware of everything. Yes.
Discord has begun in the family.
Sometimes people say pear when you say apple, say pomegranate when you say pear; in this way they misunderstand each other, and when some selfish feelings get mixed in too, unexpected reasons come up.
In this case Allah Almighty: two from the woman's side, and two from the man's side. Arbiters. If they want to make peace — making peace in a certain situation — in this verse of Allah Almighty, surely Allah knows everything and is aware of everything, it says. He brings them together, it says. I mean, let's say I tell my wife words, but she always takes me the wrong way. An example. She always takes it the wrong way. Now discord has begun. But I'm content with my wife, yet she takes it the wrong way. And she keeps doing the opposite. Well, what will we do in this case? Two people from their side and two from ours — if we want to make peace, we will state our intention.
Well, these on my side say: this daughter of ours misunderstands. And they say: yes, really, look at them, they don't mean to say it like this, but the girl's side, sir, wants to say it like this. My child, why are you doing this, he says. She comes to her senses. So Allah brought them together. I mean, an unwanted situation was put right. But the woman insists: I don't want to stay. The woman's side says the same thing: We — yes, he is a good person, but we don't want to stop. In that case the one responsible for it goes to separation.
First, advice is given, the events are shown. If the person still doesn't want this and wants to separate, Allah Almighty: if your wives don't want to stay under your marriage, do not keep them under your marriage by force. According to that verse, one turns to divorce and goes ahead. In a family home, discord breaks out between husband and wife. When it comes to the question of their not drifting apart and separating, or when events are misunderstood and husband and wife cannot convince each other, let one person from the woman's side and one person from the man's side listen to them. When I say one person, I mean those responsible for them.
If these listeners who come as arbiters have no intention of separating them, Allah gives the husband and wife intimacy, I mean closeness, and they return again to the joy of their old family home. In Islam Allah has given the woman much authority. Although He created the woman incomplete, in return He sent many laws to protect the woman. But the enemies of Islam, by showing Muslims that women are oppressed, began to incite Muslim women against their husbands and to break down religious morality. Meanwhile, by destroying family order and turning people against Allah's commands, drawing to their side people who would act on their path, they succeeded.
In many ways, sir, they bring up women's rights on television in the name of women's rights. The right you call a woman's right — beside the right Allah gave that woman, what is it? You come at some point and protect the rights of whatever woman you please. But Allah protects the rights of all the women He created. Can you measure yourself against Allah? In the name of women's rights, drawing the woman to their side — some from the (?) group, from the Jewish part, appearing glamorous to people in that way and exploiting the conscience of those Muslim women to break up their family order — next to Allah Almighty's law these become a series of fabricated laws.
Fabricated. And in this case, in the name of women's rights, it looks as if men were oppressing women. In the name of women's rights — excuse me, I am a bit tactless, I'll say everything straight out.
Among non-Muslims, in the name of women's rights, the wife sleeps with someone else, the husband sleeps with someone else. They say: (?), they say. (?), they say. What kind of family is this? Islam is honourable. Islam has abandoned living like animals. Islam. This is the verse where Allah Almighty says they are like animals, like four-legged beasts. There are even some animals that stay with a single female until they die. Like a single family life. There are such seagulls, such animals. One family; it lives with a single female. Sir, the man sends his wife on holiday. He says: you work here. The woman, he says, went on holiday.
Well, he says, if she meets someone else there, that's her right, he says, it's her need too, he says.
Is this humanity? This is what they call women's rights: pulling Muslims in this direction. Degenerating them. Degenerating the religion. Whereas, we say, Nasreddin Hodja shows it so well: they are cutting the branches they sit on. So whoever oversteps Allah's laws gets Allah's slap like this.
And still they call it natural disasters.
They don't say: Allah Almighty is giving you two or three calamities too. O people, gather here, let me see. What is happening to us? What is happening to us? We have forgotten the one who created us. This slap comes to us from that. Come, let us return to Allah. Let us obey Him. Instead of saying that, sir, they carry on in the same old ways. Of course everyone will live whatever their destiny is. "Well, Hodja, when this blow hits them, does it please you?" Come on, we are human; when an animal is tormented over there, my heart aches. But the calamities Allah has sent upon people — neither can our hands reach them nor our strength.
The only duty that falls to us is patience. To take lessons. To see them, their condition, and draw closer to Allah. With our own hearts, praying to our Lord: my Allah, do not give us too calamities as You gave them. Protect us, sir. You are the owner of the whole world of humanity. You created them too. If they are going to mend their ways, set them right too. After they have mended their ways, treat them too with Your mercy, my Allah. That's how we'll pray, of course. We are all human. We are what our Lord created. We will pray. And we will take examples from them. Yes.
If we list the value Allah gave to women: Allah, who created the man complete compared to the woman, gave the man a full nafs; since He created the woman incomplete, compared to the man, instead of half a nafs He gave her one seventh of a nafs. For this reason women can master themselves more than men.
Islam, by giving the woman the right of mahr, makes the woman a property owner; by having her livelihood easily provided, or by having people serve her in return for her property, it has given the woman a comfortable life. As in the false understanding of non-Muslims, the woman preparing a dowry for the man she will marry, I mean giving the man an amount that will (?), has been abolished. The woman has been given the rank and place she deserves among people.
What is a dowry? Marriage money she gives to the man. Well, a poor woman can't give the man a dowry. I mean, she can't give him anything that would make him an owner of property. So that woman, that girl, will be left at home. (?) as such people (?), prostitution will increase. For them that is normal.
For four-legged beasts it is normal. Because our Lord says so. I'm not saying it. They are like four-legged beasts roaming the earth, He says. Even more astray in their way. When I say these verses, am I the one saying it? My Lord has said the verse; He makes me say it, and I say it. Should I hide these, then? Am I saying it because I have some grudge against them? No. These are events out in the open.
Yes.
The woman was created weak anyway. And on top of that, by giving the man she will marry a sum along with herself, wouldn't the woman be forced into hardships and calamities, we ask? Well, she gives to the man too. And He created the woman weak. Wouldn't the woman's value among people become worthless? Wouldn't a woman without money act immorally to make herself liked? That's how it is. In this case the rich girl with money will marry. The others will suffer. So, through class differences among people, the events of seeing one another as superior arise, and some ideologies emerge. Yet Allah did not create any of the people superior to another.
People were created equal. With their own desires and wishes, they ranked themselves. Either by being Muslim or by leaving Islam.
Yet Allah did not create any of His people superior to another. Superiority belongs to those who are with Allah on Allah's path. And this is a matter between Allah and the servant. Only the person knows it, as it is between Allah and himself. Yes. So the laws laid down by the minds of people who go against the understanding of Islam and oppose Islam, and the women's places among men: in primitive ages men made use of women and then, pushing them aside, they were condemned to loneliness. Now this understanding is the condition and way of life of people outside Islam.
When they grow old, nobody goes to that person.
They are left to loneliness.
Once a year they'll hold Mother's Day, Father's Day. Once a year he'll remember his mother and come to his mother. He'll remember his father and come to his father.
Then — then he'll live that life of his, that life. Mother's Day, Father's Day. Every day of mine is Mother's Day, Father's Day. Every day. They are my soul and my heart. I'm not saying it because they died. I was like this while they were alive too. I always carried them on my back. Every day my mother, and every day my father. What does Allah Almighty say? In Surah Luqman: if their old age passes beside you, do not even say "uff" to them. There, look: Mother's Day, Father's Day. Don't be fooled by the days of the unbelievers.
Yes. If you want to celebrate, then celebrate that day separately too. But don't celebrate for that day.
So the laws laid down by the minds of people who go against the understanding of Islam and oppose Islam, and the women's places among men: in primitive ages men make use of women. Then, pushing them aside, they would condemn them to loneliness. Now this understanding is the condition and way of life of people outside Islam. Is this humanity? Is this modern civilisation and human rights? Those who admire these, since they live a backward life, long for a good standard of living. Yes.
Allah, without discriminating among the servants He created, without hurting their hearts, protected each of them with separate laws; if He entrusted one to another, He placed many responsibilities on the one entrusted. Fulfilling Allah's commands or not is also a responsibility for people. Those who obey Allah and those who don't will give their account to Allah through the reward and sin they earn.
Allah Almighty's saying "bring an arbiter from the woman's side and an arbiter from the man's side" emphasises the woman's freedom within the family, makes known that she has a say and was not given to men as a captive. Look, we keep listing women's rights, don't we, we've been listing them from the start. So that people entrusted to one another are not hurt, Allah, shedding light on people with His verses, teaches them what they don't know. In this case, salvation and deliverance come from knowing and understanding Islam well and holding tight to Allah's verses. Allah is the one who truly knows everything and sees everything. Our people, our people: he didn't (?) my head, we can't get along on this, they separate.
The father says to his son: son, back then you loved her, you married her; look, now you have a child with her, what will happen? Me — I say, I won't (?); or else the girl's mother and father: my daughter, back then you agreed and married each other. Why are you giving up on him now? He goes against me. He opposes me. I won't (?). Well, my daughter, my child, you have a child. I'll look after my child. Sir, they don't even listen to their father's advice, their mother's advice. And finally they separate. That mother and father, those lustful people, outside the Islamic mentality, who deify their own selves, raise those children in a wronged state too.
They raise them with bowed heads. Look, yesterday it said on television: a stepmother, a step-grandmother murdered a nine-year-old child. They cut him up and threw him on a rubbish dump. Would his own mother have done that to him?
So those who judge by their own minds, who turn their backs on Allah's verses, these who don't know their responsibilities, who deify their selves and chase after selfish feelings —
what will happen? If he follows the devil's footsteps, both worldly and otherworldly misery will seize him by the collar. He will waste both his world and his hereafter.
Yet if he listened to Allah's word, would it be like this? If Allah said, would it be like this?
At least he would eat the sustenance Allah gives from what is lawful, live in peace, pass his test in this realm, and become an heir to the abode of bliss in the eternal realm. But where is that sense in those people? This nafs — always this nafs. The devil won't let go of his collar. The two-legged taghut — I mean the human devil. It looks attractive to him. With its nakedness. He will look civilised. When (?), very brave, very civilised. He doesn't know he is wandering around disgracefully like a rag, like rubbish.
Yes.
Whether these slaps are enough to bring them to their senses or not, I don't know, but we are obliged to say it. Look at monkeys, pay attention to animals.
Allah made even them cover their private parts with their tails.
Some baboons are an exception; He left those uncovered too.
This is what He calls even more astray in their way: those who go about exposing all their private parts.
Those who tell you too, "I am a Muslim" — with their tongue. As for their nafs — never envy them. Those who chase after the people of whom He says whoever envies them is like them. Those who take them as an example for themselves. Those who get tattoos on their arms and bodies.
Thinking it is fashion, and in that way, to themselves — to escape an inferiority complex, to make others value them, undressing like this, stark naked, getting tattoos on their bodies too, they'll make people say: look how civilised this is. Civilisation is not that. They misunderstand civilisation. They misunderstand progressiveness and enlightenment. Progressiveness and enlightenment mean keeping up with the age — keeping up with the age not through indecency but through knowledge; launching satellites, setting up a station on the moon, having knowledge that can make interstellar travel possible, making your own weapons, above the weapons the world has made, and protecting yourself that way too, seeking to be the world's police post, as the Ottomans did. That is civilisation.
That is progressiveness and keeping up with the age. What kind of enlightenment is this? What progressiveness? They've fooled you so much you aren't even aware of yourself, a sleepwalker. You know, Allah Almighty says: do not be with the dead. These are not the dead lying in graves. The living dead who (?), like you. May Allah grant you an awakening too. If you are a Muslim, not from your tongue — live Islam fearing Allah. Yes.
People who seem ownerless and without responsibility in the world — if only they could realise that they are actually under a great responsibility and a heavy burden.
People who come to the realm of Mulk, each of them, although they know with reason that Allah exists, people act selfishly, chase after their lusts, and compete among themselves against Allah's prohibitions. People who forget the day of reckoning in the hereafter and have fun, thinking only of living it up in the world — if only they could reflect that Allah truly knows everything and is aware of everything.
Yes.
