Oh you believers! It is not lawful for you to inherit women against their will. And unless they commit an open indecency, do not restrain them in order to take back part of what you had given them. Live with them in goodness. If you dislike them, (know that) it is possible that you also dislike something that Allah has determined to be very beneficial for you.

Tafsir

Before Islam, some tribes used to treat women very badly. They would claim a woman whose husband had died as their own inheritance and marry her by force, even if she did not want to. If they wanted, they would sell her to others and take the mahr for themselves. In addition, they would not let go of themselves in order not to give her the inheritance left by her husband. With Islam, women came to life. They took their place among the people in the most beautiful way.

A person who lives Islam does not want to have a woman by force. In one of the verses, Allah (swt) says, "Do not keep your wives under your marriage by force". In this respect, a Muslim never wants to possess a woman by force. Because such behavior is forbidden and haram in our religion.

The meaning of this verse is that unless they commit disgraceful misbehavior, such as theft or adultery, do not squeeze them to get back the rents or property you have given them, and do not divorce them. Do not use the excuse that you do not like your wives and try to divorce them and try to take back some of what you have given them unjustly. Get along well with your wives, they are your life partners and are entrusted to you. If people do not like their wives, we may not like something that Allah will make very good for us. Allah knows the unseen, we do not know it. In this case, we may be benefiting from the sustenance that Allah (swt) gives to the wife we dislike. Maybe a righteous son will be born from the wife we dislike and we will have a son who will be a blessing for us. Or we may not like a son who will be a blessing.

So, it is not important whether the human soul likes it or not. The important thing is to perfect the human soul and to judge by the Verses of Allah. If people do what Allah (swt) says, they will find life. If they do otherwise, they will suffer worldly and ethereal hardships, and people will be wronging their own souls in both worlds.

What is said in the video

(?) they may ask.

Surah An-Nisa, verse 19: O you who believe! It is not lawful for you to inherit women by force.

One must pay great attention to the verses. 'I am a Muslim' — no; some people who commit certain acts, those who commit harassment, those who commit rape, outside the verses, acting with a mindset outside Islam — these fall into kufr. We read it again. O you who believe, it is not lawful for you to inherit women by force. unless they commit an open indecency, and do not pressure the women so as to take back part of what you gave them.

In our religion Allah Almighty grants women very great rights. to women. A man may love a woman. If the woman does not want that man, the man's loving the woman means nothing. Because Allah Almighty: unless that woman wants it, do not take her by force. Or, if the women do not want to remain in your marriage, do not keep them in your marriage, He says. In this case He gives women authority. And the dowries, the dowries you gave the women — as long as that woman does not commit an open indecency, that is, as long as she does not harm your honour, your standing, do not take back what you gave them when you divorce them, He says.

Yes. Of course, when she commits an open indecency, the right to take back a part is granted by Allah Almighty. What does He say? Do not pressure the women so as to take back part of what you gave them. Live with them in kindness. If you dislike them, know that you may have disliked something in which Allah will place much good for you, He says. You see. And your saying 'I don't like my wife' is your nafs; it may also dislike a very good thing Allah Almighty will give you. Your nafs. That is why Allah Almighty makes such a fine comparison with women. So that they do not wrong them unjustly. People.

Before Islam some peoples treated women very badly. They would claim the woman whose husband died as if she were their own inheritance. Even if the woman did not want it, they would marry her by force. If they wished, they would sell her to others and take her dowry right themselves.

Yes.

Also, they would not let them go, over the inheritance left by her husband to be given to her. That is, they would not let the women go.

With Islam, women came to life. They took their place among people in the finest way. Women. Because all created beings are Allah's servants. Allah makes no distinction among His servants.

Even if He created woman lacking compared to man, surely He did not create their souls lacking. Since souls are each a part from Allah, Allah Almighty judges between them with justice. Whoever tries to remove this justice from the earth, they will have turned their backs on Allah.

A person who lives Islam does not want to take a woman by force. If he lives Islam, if he knows of Allah's verses, and if these people fear Allah, people who can lose their own carnal desires before the fear of Allah — these are people Allah loves, and these, apart from easy mistakes outside Allah's verses, apart from their forgetting as human beings — for every human is lacking — these never venture into open indecency and rebellion against Allah's verses.

In the verse Allah Almighty says: do not keep your wives in your marriage by force. Therefore a Muslim never wants to take a woman by force. Because such behaviour is forbidden and haram in our religion. It is forbidden.

Unless they commit an open indecency, do not pressure women so as to take back part of what you gave them. What is meant in this verse: as long as women do not commit shameful bad deeds such as theft or adultery, do not pressure them to take back the dowries or belongings you gave them and snatch them from their hands, and do not divorce them. Do not use the excuse that you did not like your wives to divorce them while trying to unjustly take back part of what you gave. Live well with your wives. They are your life companions and entrusted to you. Now, I know many. When they find a little money their eye wanders outside, and right away the wife who brought him to that point, who endured his poverty, who suffered every hardship for him, he abandons.

Well, does this person have a conscience? Now, this person, for the sake of satisfying his carnal desires — we all witness here how he goes against Allah's verses. Many people, once they get a bit older, especially — between 28 and 35 is a very dangerous age. Change — it is the time when people change. they (?) not liking their wives, and toward each other harsh, (?) they behave. After getting past these ages, people become somewhat calmer. Some people, too, when they get a bit older, push their wife into second place. The soul has no age. As the body ages, the soul grows younger. Its inclination toward the young grows.

In this case, with their inclination toward the young, old people come to dislike their wives at home. Especially if he sees a bit of money, that person then proves what kind of person he is. So Allah Almighty — without proving what kind of person you are, you thought His paradise was just like that.

Even if he did good all his life, in the end, when the chance comes his way, what he will do — himself, to himself and those around him, with Allah Almighty held as witness (?) — how well it is proven. So one must refrain from such things, must avoid them. Our wives are entrusted to us; we must protect them like our own eyes. Especially when old age touches them, especially when they fall ill, we must take more care of them than of ourselves. The reason: the man works outside. The whole burden of the home is on the woman. Cleaning the house, the laundry, the cooking, childcare. Well, if you feel your responsibility, if that man feels his family responsibility, then when his wife falls ill, will he be able to do all the work that woman could do himself? Even if he does, for how many days, and after that fatigue will set in.

And then he will start to (?), to (?). So if we look after our wives, care for them like our eyes, especially when they fall ill, carry them on our backs and have them examined in the best way and restore their health, we will be at ease — we men will be at ease. But where is that mindset in those men?

In those men, where is that mindset? Those who understand, understand, of course. (?) Not all of them. Our words are for those whose eye is outside and who do not like their wives.

If people dislike their wives — Allah, for us, we may have disliked something He will make very good. For example, something that will be very good for us in the future — we may have (?) it. We may not want it. But in the future it will truly be needed by me and be my lifeline. We cannot know that. Allah Almighty makes this comparison with the wife too. If you dislike her, He says. Of course, you cannot know what good she holds for you. You cannot know what good the one you dislike holds for you. If you follow your nafs, He says — your nafs — just as your nafs dislikes her, just as you dislike your wife who would be good for you, some offspring We will give you, who will later be your lifeline, you may dislike as well, He says.

So, O man, (?) your nafs and abide by what Allah says, He says. How beautifully our Lord guides us here with His verses.

Allah knows the unseen; we do not. In this case, perhaps the provision Allah Almighty gives to the wife we dislike (?) we may be benefiting from. Perhaps from the wife we dislike a righteous child is born, and for us we may have a child who becomes a means of good, or we may also dislike a child who would be a means of good. So whether a person's nafs likes or dislikes is not important. What matters is that a person perfects his nafs and abides by Allah's verses. That is what matters anyway.

If people do what Allah Almighty says, they find life. Because Allah Almighty created man lacking. He created his mind lacking.

Man is a being in need of learning in this world. He will learn. And with what he learns he will move forward, light his way. So, how a person, in technology, in social life, in his dialogues with people, within his own life, can sustain his life in the best way, being able to reach such a state — Allah Almighty, with His verses, informing us, we are trying to guide him. He is trying to guide man. In this case, if a person abides by his Lord's verses, that person truly finds life, finds peace. But if he turns his back on Allah's verses, he spends his life without peace, and drives both his world to bankruptcy and his hereafter. Yes.

If people do what Allah Almighty says, they find life. If they do (?) of this, they suffer worldly and otherworldly hardships, and people will have wronged their own selves in both worlds. How beautifully Allah Almighty puts it. We did not wrong them; they wronged themselves, He says. Who? Those who do not carry out the commands of Allah Almighty and (?) Allah Almighty, those who turn their backs on Allah, and those who were destroyed, like the people of Lot, like the people of Thamud, like the people of Ad, like Pharaoh — Allah did not wrong them. They wronged themselves. Allah held a light before them.

He gave life with His verses. From directions they never expected, doors they never expected He opened upon them, and rained down their provision like a mercy. But those people did not see the Giver of that mercy; they took the mercy and ate it, and were ungrateful to Allah. Even so, though they were ungrateful to Him, Allah Almighty still gave to them. And what did He say? We do not destroy unjustly any people We have not warned. And He sent them prophets from among them, He sent scholars. He warned them. But still they followed every stubborn devil, and followed the trail of the taghut, its footprints. They turned their backs on Allah.

So Allah destroyed them.

Allah Almighty destroying them — is that our Lord wronging them? They wronged themselves. Yes.
