Translation

Give to the orphans their possessions. Do not exchange that which is clean for what is filthy, and do not take their possessions and include it with yours. This is a great sin.

Tafsir

Give the property of orphans to them when they come of age, that is, when they reach the age of majority. The meaning of this verse is that people may add a little haram to their earnings. They can clean these haram properties by giving zakat. Because people are not free from error, sometimes they cannot distinguish between halal and haram. Therefore, they may mix haram in their wealth. These harams can be cleansed with zakat. However, by usurping the property of the orphan, they also pollute their own property, because they have taken the right of the orphan upon themselves and made it haram by mixing their lawful property with the orphan's property. It is not possible to cleanse the property of people who eat haram by usurping other people's property with zakat, because those who eat haram have the rights of those whose property has been usurped. It is possible for people to clean their property that has been contaminated in this way by giving the rights of the rightful owners of the property.

The guardians of orphans are obliged to treat them well. Because orphans are in need of compassion. By treating them harshly and harshly, orphans will feel oppressed among people and will not be able to communicate with people easily. In this respect, the guardian of an orphan is also responsible for acclimatizing him to life and raising him well. Orphans are broken-hearted and bitter, so they seek refuge with Allah in their hearts. To take or usurp the property of an orphan who has taken refuge in Allah and is with Allah is to take Allah's property from Allah unjustly, which is a great sin. Therefore, Allah (swt) says, 'Do not eat the property of orphans as if it were your own property. When they reach the age of majority, return their property to them.

What is said in the video

The second verse of Surah An-Nisa. Give the orphans their property. Do not exchange the clean for the filthy. How beautiful.

What is clean? The tea in this glass. A blessing my Lord has offered me. Don't exchange it for the filthy. That is, don't turn it into haram. Don't make it filthy. Don't usurp their rights.

Yes. Give the orphans their property. Do not exchange the clean for the filthy. Do not add their property to your own and consume it as if it were yours. Because this is a great sin. The orphan's property. Whom do they call an orphan? One whose father has died, who has not reached puberty,

who is in need of people, who still has to grow up with people's help, that is, a child in a state of needing protection is called an orphan. In the verses we will come to, what does Allah Almighty say? About the orphans: when they reach puberty, test them. When they reach puberty, test them. If they are in a state to look after themselves, give them their property in full. And have witnesses present, He says. And witnesses too. Why? Perhaps the child might think, my father also gave this and that. So as not to be left under suspicion, He says the guardian too should give him his property with witnesses.

Yes.

Give the orphans their property when they come of age, that is, when they are mature, give it to them.

Do not make the clean filthy. The meaning in this verse: people may mix some haram, even if a little, into the property they earn. As I said just now. They can purify this haram property by giving zakat. But how do they purify it? Pay attention to the words. Look what we are saying here.

Do not make the clean filthy. In this verse, the meaning: people may mix some haram, even if a little, into the property they earn. Even if a little. That is, the whims of the nafs, not fully haram. Or unknowingly. Who today can say, I earned it completely halal? Who today can say, I eat completely halal?

Personally, even I can't say it. Why can't I say it? Hodja, are you eating haram? No. Do I go to the market? I do. Do I buy butter, cheese, olives there? I do. While I buy them, does someone there who cannot afford them set his eyes on them? So there is haram for you.

Today we come (?) with string bags. We walk along the road. Those who envy it, who set their eyes on it: there is haram for you.

If we look into it closely. What did our ancestors do? They carried things in baskets and hampers. You couldn't see what was inside.

Usually, when I come with such string bags, if there are children, I give them one each of what is in the bag. I let them eat. If it's apples, apples; if oranges, oranges; whatever, if tangerines, tangerines, I give them, depending on the season. They are happy too. That's why, don't make the halal haram. Don't make the clean filthy. Be careful.

They can purify this haram property by giving zakat. Allah Almighty has people give zakat. With those zakats, knowingly or unknowingly, even a little, a little. Those people's eyes were left on it. What of these has remained? A little; say, a few pennies of another person's right have passed to you. How did it pass? (?) A customer came. You said ten lira. You thought he would bargain. Goods worth eight lira. You said ten lira. And the man didn't bargain with you. He paid the ten lira. Those two lira are haram for you. If you can, give back his two lira. If you can't, it has stayed haram for you.

(?) And the man took out ten lira and gave it to you. This is haram too. Even if a little, some haram has now entered this. True, it's trade. In the trade he consented. You sold, he bought. But since the excess (?), again a little haram got mixed into it.

This haram property they can purify by giving zakat. Because since people are not free of error, they sometimes cannot tell halal from haram. But since by (?) the orphan's property they take the orphan's right onto themselves, since they make their halal property haram by mixing it with the orphan's property, they also make their own property filthy. Filth. Since those who eat haram by usurping people's property have on them the rights of those whose property was usurped, for such people who eat haram, the zakat of their property cannot purify it. Here too, you know, people ask: Hodja, does such a man's property get purified as well?

It is not possible for their property to be purified. Why? Because he usurped that person's right. Now it is between that rightful owner and Allah, and between those people themselves.

These points are clear, I suppose. So how is property purified? How is it not purified by zakat?

For people to be able to purify the property they made filthy in this way, it also becomes possible by giving the rightful owners in their property their rights. You will give them so that you are purified. "Let me usurp your property, leave you destitute, give zakat and be purified." (?)

But knowingly or unknowingly, as I said just now, into my property a little haram I have mixed. In that case, when you give its zakat, Allah Almighty has purified your property too, as it is.

The guardians of orphans must treat orphans well. What is a guardian? The person who takes on his care and protection. The person responsible for him. The orphan. For him too, Allah Almighty says, raise the children very well. Those children are entrusted to you; make them very fine. Making children very fine: teaching them their religion and faith, giving them the education they need. If you are in need, He says, from the orphan's property, from what it earns, you may eat. If you are not in need, He says, put the orphan's property to work too, so that zakat doesn't eat it up.

How beautifully Allah Almighty says it. We will come to (?), God willing. We will come to them. Matters of fiqh; these are all verses, verses.

It is given to orphans; they must treat orphans well. Because orphans need compassion. A child grows with love. Today flowers too grow with love. Stroke a flower, love it like this, and that flower opens as if it were human, as if it had a mind.

Does a person talk with plants? He does. What does Yunus Emre say? I asked the yellow flower: do you have a mother and father? (?), it says; my mother and father are the earth, it says. That dervish talked with it and wrote such a couplet. If you ask, I talked too. I had a flat in Bahçelievler. I have (?) plants in it. There were also things, (?).

When I went away from home, when I emptied the house, that is, not emptied, but when I went on a trip, I come back and they are cheerful. Cheerful. When we come, it's as if they are seized by fear. I see this, I mean, I see it. You know, Allah Almighty says, (?). That is, Sayyid Abdulqadir Gilani, (?). I see it. There is a fear, as if there is anxiety. Good heavens. One, three, five, and so on, I solved the matter. When I come home, the children come too, you know, and when those children come, they play ball, throw the ball, whatever they do, and the branches and so on get hurt, you know, they, they are anxious about them.

After that I didn't let those children into the room. I used to scold them. Now even a flower wants love, a flower. A human being grows with love. Yes.

Umar is going to appoint a governor somewhere. (?) when one of them treats a child harshly, he says, you cannot be governor there.

Children, who will shoulder the burden of (?), are our heirs. We must look after them very well. We must raise them very well.

The orphan is like this too. The orphan wants someone to lean on, someone to show him compassion. All his business is with the heart. The orphan's business. With the heart. He lives in the world of the heart. That's why one must win his heart. Even stroking an orphan's head gives that orphan's heart a feeling of reverence, so the person who strokes his head (?) Allah's mercy. Allah values the human being this much.

Yes. Because orphans need compassion. By being harsh and treating them roughly, orphans feel crushed among people and cannot easily build dialogue with people. They fall into a complex. Most orphans are more or less like this, because people could not raise them properly. Therefore the person who is the orphan's guardian is also responsible for accustoming him to life and making him fine. As I said just now. Both in his religion and faith, teaching him the Quran, teaching him language, and in his education.

Since orphans' hearts are broken and aching, they take refuge in Allah with their hearts. As I said just now. All their business is a matter of the heart, with the heart. They don't love with the mind like us. Because his heart is aching. The only one he can take refuge in is Allah. So when a person shows him closeness and embraces him, that heart turns to him. That heart opens to him. This is the orphan's heart.

Taking or (?) the property of such an orphan, who takes refuge in Allah and is with Allah, is taking Allah's property from Allah unjustly, which is a great sin. All that is created, from the atom to (?), all of it is Allah's. And the orphan has taken refuge in Allah. By taking his property, it is not only his property, it is betraying Allah. Therefore Allah Almighty commands: do not add the orphans' property to your own and consume it as if it were your own. How beautifully He says it. When they come of age, return their property to them.
