Translation

When people tell them (the mu’min); “People who are your adversaries have gathered soldiers against you, fear them”, their belief has increased, and they said; “Allah is sufficient for us. What a good guardian Allah is.”

Tafsir

According to a narration, Abu Sufyan, the commander of the enemy troops, who could not achieve any significant result after the Muslims dispersed and then gathered in the battle of Uhud, said to the Prophet (PBUH) as he was leaving the battlefield, O Muhammad! Let us meet again next year at Badr, to which the Prophet replied Inshallah. The following year, when the news of Abu Sufya's preparations reached Madinah, the Prophet (PBUH) went out to meet the enemy with a cavalry unit, and upon this news, this verse was revealed, expressing the determination and resolve of the Muslims and appreciating their high morale.

They wanted to divide Islam among the Muslims and frighten them from their enemies by demoralizing the Islamic troops by saying that your enemies are gathering troops against you, thinking that they would frighten Islam. However, when such hypocrites said among the Muslims, "Your enemies are gathering troops, beware of them", those who saw that the morale of the Islamic troops was high and their loyalty to Allah and His Messenger was total obedience, they did not find what they had hoped for.

The faith of the Muslims increased even more. The Islamic troops, who were looking for an opportunity to fight the enemy in order to express their regret for the mistakes they had committed, and to prove their loyalty to Allah and His Messenger, saying that Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Surrogate, increased the enthusiasm of the Muslims towards Allah (swt) and strengthened their faith upon their faith, and proved that they were not afraid of their enemies and earned the praise of Allah (swt).

Those who adhere to Allah and His Messenger and live in unity and solidarity are in peace and security. Allah's mercy is with them as long as they do not differ.

What is said in the video

Al Imran Surah, verse 173: Some people said to the believers: the people who are your enemies have gathered troops against you. Beware of them — when they said this. Who is saying this? In Mecca people are gathering. A very great force is forming. They tell the believers: beware. And this does not address only that. Since these verses are valid until the Day of Judgement, they may say it this way. Yes. When they said, beware of them, it increased their faith even more, and they said: Allah is enough for us. What an excellent guardian He is. Of course. Allah is enough for us.

Allah is the owner of all wealth and property, of children and family. He said: Allah is the owner of our wealth and property, children and family, our flesh. We came from there, we will go there. We will return. Am I to fear (?)? I must fear Allah. If He is with us, what an excellent guardian He is.

Who does not want to inherit Allah's Paradise? We are all heirs. But when it comes to dying, he says: count me out. Well, how will you inherit it without dying?

So, in the life of this world, whether people live or not, whether they fear death or not, according to the state of their faith — the decisions they will (?). According to the state of their faith. When it comes to talk, everyone says: I would sacrifice my life. When it comes to action, (?). Now, without deceiving yourself, the best thing is — there's the conscience, the conscience — in his heart of hearts a person calls himself to account. If such a thing really happened, would I give my life for Allah? he asks. And if the answer there satisfies him, he is fine. If it's (?), his nafs has not yet matured.

So what does the believer say? Allah is enough for me. Three days earlier or three days later makes no difference to me, he says. We will die one day anyway. The world is transient. If I give my life for Allah, then some sins I have committed up to now my Lord will forgive too, and placing me among those He loves, His Paradise He will let me inherit, I say. What a fine decision. At once I take my place in His ranks. Yes.

According to one report, when the Muslims scattered at the Battle of Uhud and then regrouped, the commander of the enemy forces, which could not achieve any significant result, Abu Sufyan, while leaving the battlefield, to the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: O Muhammad, let us meet again next year on the field of Badr; when he said this, the Prophet (peace be upon him), saying 'God willing', replies. (?) when news reached Medina that Abu Sufyan was making such preparations, the Prophet (peace be upon him) with a cavalry unit set out to meet the enemy. Upon this news this verse was revealed; the Muslims' resolve and determination, their high morale, it expressed with appreciation.

Some people, thinking they would frighten Islam, saying: your enemies are gathering troops against you — by saying that, by breaking the morale of the Islamic forces, wanted to divide Islam among the Muslims and make them fear their enemies. This happens a lot in wars. To break the Islamic forces, or to break the opposing forces: look, your units have scattered, your ships have sunk, in this situation no one is coming to help you, surrender — with words like these a propaganda is spread. During war, these rumours one must not heed. To those fighting, to those fighting at the front, and to people in the cities: your people at the front have scattered, are fleeing, many have died, been martyred, or have been taken prisoner by other units.

Well, there's nothing left for you to do now — saying this, to cow them. To cow them. But Islam does not fall for this trick. Why? If her husband has died, if his brother or son has died, from the light of his faith he rises up in fervour. In fervour, with whatever pickaxe or shovel he gets hold of, he goes at the enemy.

That is what a person of true faith is. Yes.

But such hypocrites, among the Muslims, saying your enemies are gathering troops, beware of them, and spreading this news: seeing that the Islamic forces' morale was high, that their devotion to Allah and His Messenger rested on complete obedience, they did not find what they had hoped for. Yes, that is what a Muslim is; that is what the Companions were. The Companions.

The Muslims' faith increasing even more,

by way of expressing regret for the mistakes they had made, the Islamic forces, watching for a chance to clash with the enemy, to prove their devotion to Allah and His Messenger, saying: Allah is enough for us and what an excellent guardian He is — this increased the Muslims' longing for Allah Almighty and strengthened faith upon their faith; proving they did not fear their enemies, they were granted Allah Almighty's praise.

What do they say? Hasbunallâhu ve ni'me'l-vekîl, ni'me'l-mevlâ ve ni'me'n-nasîr. How excellent He is, say; how excellent (?), how excellent a companion. Allah. If a person can grasp it — if we are defeated, well, will we say, what an excellent companion this is? If we are defeated, if we are martyred — of course, what an excellent companion, what an excellent guardian. We were going to die anyway. Why did we come? We had come to the world to be tested. We went having won the hereafter. He will give us the places He promised, though we have earned nothing there, though we have no right to it. Allah Almighty saying: to whoever fulfils in the world what I said, I will give these — isn't it enough that He grants us our Lord's mercy?

What an excellent guardian, what an excellent support. Yes.

Those devoted to Allah and His Messenger, people living in unity and solidarity, are in peace and security. Unity and solidarity give a person strength. That strength gives a person peace. Allah Almighty too created the universe in such order and harmony, in unity and solidarity. If there were division in its creation, this universe would fall into chaos. As long as they do not fall into division, Allah's mercy is with them.
