I have been sent to you to confirm the Torah which came before me, and to make permissible some of the things that had been made unlawful to you. I have brought a miracle from your Lord, so, fear Allah and obey me.
Tafsir
Jesus addressed the people of Israel to inform them that he was a prophet sent by Allah, confirming the Torah sent before him, and that some of the prohibitions given to the people of Israel as punishment would be lifted from them. I have brought you a miracle from your Lord, and after I proved to you that I am a prophet, the prohibition of the meat of fish, the meat of camels, the fat of the belly and intestines, and the prohibition of hunting on Saturday, which Allah had forbidden you, has been lifted from you by the permission of Allah. Jesus Christ, God has made these things lawful for you according to the Gospel that God has sent to you with me, according to the Gospel law.
(So fear Allah and obey me), that is, after so many miracles and mercy, will you not still turn to Allah? Will you not still be grateful to the One who has given you all these blessings? If you fear Allah and obey Him, Allah is Forgiving and will forgive you. He says, 'Obey me if you fear Allah.
To obey Jesus is to obey Allah. No prophet calls people to himself and makes them obey him for his own sake. Therefore, the salvation of mankind lies in submitting to and obeying the messengers sent by Allah and not deviating from the commands of their Lord.
What is said in the video
of the Surah, verse 50: I have been sent confirming the Torah that came before me, and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. I have brought you a miracle from your Lord. So fear Allah and obey me. He says. Jesus (peace be upon him): our Lord makes it known like this in the verse. Jesus, addressing the people of Israel, that he is a prophet sent by Allah, confirming the Torah sent before him, and wanting to tell them that some prohibitions given to the people of Israel as a punishment would be lifted from them, he calls out to them. I will now (?) these prohibitions for you below.
What prohibitions? O Children of Israel, I have brought you a miracle from your Lord. What is this miracle? Making birds out of clay, breathing into them and bringing them to life, making the dead speak, telling (?) in houses, and the like. After proving to you that I am a prophet, the fish that Allah forbade you; why did He forbid fish? When He told the people of the Sabbath, the Saturday people, not to fish, for six days the sea was full of fish, and on Saturday there was not a single fish. On Saturday fishing is free, the other days forbidden. Sorry, the other days, the other days they would fish six days, one day they would not fish. Six days there are no fish in the sea, on Saturday the sea teems with fish.
On Saturday the sea teems with fish. Once Saturday is over, on the other days there are no fish. So they resort to tricks. They build breakwaters, and with the breakwaters they trap the fish there and mean to catch them on the other days. However much their scholars warned them, they did not listen to their scholars. When they kept on fishing on Saturday, Allah Almighty changes their forms into apes. These are the people whose skeletons Darwin found when he said man descends from apes; so Allah Almighty shows His miracles this way in every age. Yes: O Children of Israel, I have brought you a miracle from your Lord; after proving to you that I am a prophet, the fish that Allah forbade you, camel meat, the fat of the belly and the intestines, the ban on fishing on Saturday, have been lifted from you by Allah's Gospel.
He proclaims. Fishing on Saturday: that is where He forbids (?).
Jesus: by the Gospel that Allah sent to you with me, according to the law of the Gospel, Allah has made these lawful for you, he says.
But these people are in boundless insolence towards Allah Almighty. Because they call themselves Allah's close ones, and some of them Allah's sons, so it is recorded. Some are Allah's children, others say we are Allah's sons, they say. And they say: the torment of Hell will not touch us for more than three days. And Allah Almighty tells them: if so, let them wish for death right now. Look at this state of affairs: he is content with three days of torment in Hell. Those three days of torment: if a thousand years here are like one day of the Hereafter, he is content to burn for three thousand years, three thousand years, as long as he does not do what Allah says.
As long as he does not do what Allah says. So now I ask, whom? I ask the people who say such words. We have minds, we are sound-minded people.
In this worldly life, your stirring up strife on earth, your shedding blood, your drowning the earth in unrest, and so seeing yourself as a lord of power on earth: did you think that in return for this you would do the same things in Paradise too? Is that it? You are content to burn for three thousand years, then you will go out there, to the other side, and do the same things there too. Because if you had listened to Allah, you would have listened on earth. So you will not listen there either.
In that case, is the highest Paradise a place for those who spread corruption? A place for those who shed blood?
Does your head not work at all?
Oppose what Allah says. Say: I am of Allah's sons. Say: the torment of Hell will not touch me for more than three days. Then, without reforming your nafs, go to the highest Paradise with the same mind. Turn that place, too, to corruption, mischief and bloodshed. Look at this kind of reasoning.
Yes, so fear Allah, he says, and obey me. That is, after so many miracles and so much mercy, will you still not return to Allah? Will you still not give thanks to the One who offers you so many blessings? If you fear Allah and obey Him, Allah is forgiving, He will pardon you. If you fear Allah, obey me, he says. To obey Jesus is to obey Allah. The prophets, not only Jesus, obeying the prophets is obeying Allah. Because the prophets never deviate from Allah's commands and never add anything of their own to Allah's commands. So they are pure. And clean. In this respect they are Allah's messengers.
A messenger conveys only what is conveyed to him. Here, what is conveyed, the messages received from the messenger, do not belong to the messenger. They belong to the One who created it, who gave it to the messenger. So obeying the messenger is obeying Allah. Yes, that is, obeying Jesus is obeying Allah. No prophet calls people to himself or makes them obey him for his own sake. In this respect, people's
in this respect, people's salvation lies in submitting to the messengers Allah sent, obeying them and not stepping outside their Lord's commands: people's salvation. Yes,
