Tafsir
When Jesus called his people to guidance and told them to obey Allah, he sensed their disbelief in him and Allah. When he realized that he himself would be killed by his people, he addressed the people there: (Who are those who will help me in the way of Allah? Apostles: We are helpers in the way of Allah. We believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims). His people then arrested Jesus and imprisoned him in a synagogue to crucify him.
This time, Allah (swt) rescued His servant Jesus from the hands of these oppressors, who were accustomed to killing their prophets, and raised Jesus to the first floor of heaven until a certain time, according to the narration. The person who entered the synagogue to crucify Jesus was, according to one narration, their military commander. He sees that Jesus Christ is not inside the synagogue and that it is empty. Those who went inside and saw that their commander did not come out, entered the synagogue. They compare their commander to Jesus Christ and crucify him. In this context, they say that the number of apostles was forty; Allah and His Messenger know best. They spread to the four corners of the world. They wrote down as much of the Gospel as they memorized. In this respect, the words of the collected Gospels do not correspond to each other.
So they were a people, they have come and gone, now it is our turn. It is our turn to obey or disobey Allah in the way of Allah. Because Allah loves people so much, He warns us by explaining the past times with His Verses so that these people do not fall into the same mistakes. O People! All souls will taste death and the final return will be to Allah. They will be gathered before Him. See what the past nations did and how they disobeyed their Lord and brought their souls to destruction in the Hereafter. Realize that this world is a guest house and prepare for your real homeland, the Hereafter, while you are here on earth. Obey Allah so that you may find the right path and attain salvation.
This is how the Apostles worked for Allah and attained the mercy of Allah in the way of Allah. Who is more unjust than those who are enemies of Allah, who turn their backs on what Allah has sent, who exchange the life of this world for the Hereafter, who ruin their eternal lives, and who finally drive their own souls to what Allah says is an evil place of return, and who are unjust to their own souls?
Now the choice is in your hands, with your free will, with your mind at your head, with the ability to make comparisons. You are free to choose the path you want. But the heart desires that you choose the right path. If a hungry person is in front of you and he is looking at what you are eating, will that morsel pass down your throat? Can you sit comfortably on your couch and enjoy life while they are burning a human being in flames or torturing him in front of you? So before the inevitable end comes, consider this life as a booty, be a servant to Allah and an ummah to His Messenger so that you can find the right path, otherwise our job is very difficult. May Allah grant us all guidance.
What is said in the video
To the second verse.
When Jesus sensed their disbelief, what did he say? The people of the Children of Israel truly are a people of strife on earth, bloodshed, corruption, a cursed people of the earth. When he saw, sensed that disbelief in them, exactly like this Allah Almighty says in the verse, look what it says. Who will be my helpers in the way of Allah, he said. And the disciples stepped forward. It is us, O Jesus, they said. What does it say now? The disciples: we are the helpers of Allah's way. We believe in Allah. Bear witness that we are Muslims, they answered. The disciples. When they killed Jesus, not killed, rather when they set out to kill him, the disciples had memorised the Gospel.
There were forty of them. They scattered to every part of the world, so that if one of us is caught and (?), the other may keep the Gospel's rule alive, right up to the Prophet who would come, until Muhammad (peace be upon him) comes, may keep the Gospel's rule alive: for this they scattered to the four corners of the world. One of them, in Göreme there is the Apple Church and the Dark Church. They came there. They settled there.
We took Americans there. There they used to visit the Apple and Dark churches. Now they have opened those places to visitors. They have changed them a lot. Their natural shapes have of course been spoiled. Their natural shapes. They have (?) those places. Yes.
When Jesus called his people to guidance and conveyed to them that they should obey Allah, he sensed his people's disbelief towards him and towards Allah. Understanding that he himself would be killed by his people, he calls out to the people there: Who will be my helpers in the way of Allah? The disciples: we are the helpers of Allah's way, we believe in Allah, bear witness that we are Muslims, they answered. Thereupon his people seize Jesus and lock him in a synagogue to crucify him. I want to tell you this, I want to tell you this: forty disciples, wherever in the world they scattered, although they had memorised the Gospel, the texts of the forty Gospels do not agree with one another.
Yes, so the originals of the Torah, the Psalms and the Gospel are nowhere to be found.
Now, what I mean is, when I say they are nowhere to be found, the originals of how those Gospels were written are nowhere to be found. But they are in the Quran. The Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel are in the Quran with their originals. So when they do not believe in the Quran and say of what is in their hands, I will be governed by this, the crime they commit is not just one. One: their objection to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the last, the Seal of the Prophets, even though Allah Almighty sent him as a mercy to the worlds. Two: turning their backs on Allah's verses. Three: because they find their own books, whose originals are not in their hands, suited to their own ideologies, not coming near Allah's verses, but deifying their nafs within their own ideologies and following their own ideologies.
Have you not seen, according to the verse about the one who deifies his nafs? They are committing a crime of many (?).
Yes.
From the hands of this people, used to killing their prophets, this time Allah Almighty saves His servant Jesus from the hands of these oppressors and, until a certain time, raises Jesus, according to a narration, to the first heaven. Yes. The one who wanted to crucify Jesus, to be about to crucify him, it says, the person who entered the synagogue was, according to one narration, the military commander at their head. He sees that Jesus is not inside the synagogue and that it is empty inside. Those who see that their commander who went in has not come out enter the synagogue, make their commander resemble Jesus and crucify him.
In this regard, the number of the disciples is also stated to be 40 people, yes.
Allah and His Messenger know best about everything, we have said. It is stated that they were 40, that is, it is said, 40 people. Sir,
Allah and His Messenger know best and most truly about everything. They spread to the four corners of the world and write down as much of the Gospel as they had memorised. For this reason the words of the collected Gospel books do not agree with one another. So the turn to obey or not to obey Allah has come to us, we have said. It has come to us. They were a community; they came and went. Allah Almighty shows us these events so that we take lessons from the past. So what do we say? Thus they were a people; they came and went. Now it is our turn. The turn to obey or not to obey Allah in Allah's way has come to us.
So because Allah loves people very much, so that these people do not fall into the same mistakes, He warns us by explaining past times with His verses. What does He say? O people! Every soul shall taste death, and in the end the return will be to Allah. You will be gathered in His presence. Look! See! See what the past communities did, and how, by opposing their Lord, they brought their own selves to ruin in the Hereafter, how they came to loss. Realise that the world is a guesthouse, and while you are in the world, prepare for the Hereafter, your true homeland. Obey Allah so that you find the straight path and attain salvation.
This is what Allah Almighty wants to tell us with His verses. This, through the disciples working for Allah and attaining Allah's mercy in Allah's way: who is more unjust than those who are enemies of Allah, who turn their backs on those Allah Almighty sent, who trade the Hereafter for the life of this world, who ruin their eternal lives, and who finally drive their own selves to the place of which He says, what an evil place of return, than those who wrong their own selves, who is more unjust?
Now irade-i cüz'iye: with your irade-i cüz'iye, your mind (?) in your right mind, the ability to compare also being given to you, the choice is in your hands. What have we said? Now, with your irade-i cüz'iye, in your right mind, the ability to compare also being given to you, the choice is in your hands.
What does this irade-i cüz'iye mean? Irade-i cüz'iye is a person's ability to make judgements on his own. The ability to make judgements on one's own, and governing oneself with one's rulings, with the commands one gives, governing oneself, and with the deeds one has done, reward and sin Allah (?). That is irade-i cüz'iye.
No one can rule over your will. They may rule over your body, but they cannot rule over your mind. So Allah Almighty, too, left people free in their own will. Had We willed, We say, We would have created you as a single community. And We would even have sent down angels from the sky and made you prostrate, He says. So Allah Almighty, by leaving us free in our will, by binding the covenant we ourselves gave to our own wishes, left us free in our own will. What we call irade-i cüz'iye: the partial spirit He gave us from the universal spirit, and in that partial spirit, irade-i cüz'iye, that is, with the will we ourselves can use, the decisions we make through the deeds we do to prove what kind of person we are: that is your irade-i cüz'iye.
Yes. So now, with your irade-i cüz'iye, in your right mind, the ability to compare also being given to you, the choice is in your hands. You are free to choose whichever path you want. Whichever path you want. Because the will is yours. But the heart wishes that you choose the right path. The heart wishes that.
When a hungry person in front of you stands looking at what you eat, will that morsel go down your throat?
While you sit in your armchair enjoying your life, when a person in front of you is caught in flames, while they burn, or while they put him through all kinds of tortures, can you sit at ease where you are? So before the inevitable end comes, know this life as a gain, be a servant to Allah and a follower of His Messenger, so that you find the right path; otherwise our task is very hard. May Allah grant us all guidance. Let us open this up a little. When a hungry person in front of you stands looking at what you eat, will that morsel go down your throat? In Mecca, in the Sacred Mosque, I went into i'tikaf. We have a young man in Medina.
He carries the meals to me in the evening at iftar. He brings the meals. I had that young man sit down beside me. Sit down, I said. Sit. Look, what do you see around you, I said. Look around you. Hodja, I don't see anything, he said. Now I will show you, I said.
Without drawing attention, I said: there, look towards the front. Further ahead an Arab is standing. Probably Sudanese. His appearance suggests so. Yes. Look, I said. He is looking at our table and licking his lips. He is licking his lips. There is nothing in front of him. Hungry. Take half of this food to him. That morsel will not go down our throats, I said. Then I gave him some advice. Look, I have only a few days here, I will move on. You work here. Whether in Medina or in Mecca, wherever you are, look, I said, if you see such people, feed them, I said. Yes, now we gave this as an example: suppose tomorrow you enter the highest Paradise, while that person is in Hell, burning in those flames, in torment, would your heart be content?
Well, it would be content in this way: whoever rebels against Allah deserves it. Because for those who rebel against Him, Allah says that on that day they will have neither a helper nor an intercessor. But we are still in this world. These feelings of compassion have settled in our hearts. Who knows, among them there are those who will choose Islam. So we are calling out to them now already. We are giving them examples. What do we say? While you sit in your armchair enjoying life, when in front of you a person is burning in flames, or is subjected to all kinds of tortures, can you sit at ease where you are, we say.
Tomorrow's situation is like this; by tomorrow's situation I mean: in the Hereafter, when the accounts are settled, when they see they will enter Hell, He says, their eyes bulge out sky-blue and they throw themselves face down on the ground, He says. We seize them by their forelocks and have them thrown in through a narrow gate of Hell, He says. Yes.
