Ali 'Imran 81: And (remember) when Allah made a covenant with the Prophets and (said); “Do you confirm that after I will give the Book and wisdom to you, when a Prophet comes who confirms that which is with you, that you will help him? And (remember) when Allah made a covenant with the Prophets and (said); “Do you confirm that after I will give the Book and wisdom to you, when a Prophet comes who confirms that which is with you, that you will help him? Do you take the burden of this covenant?” They (the Prophets) said “we have accepted.” (Upon this, Allah) said; “Then bear witnesses; and I am a Witness (with you)!”
Tafsir
Allah (swt) created the light of His Messenger Muhammad (pbuh) from His own light. Then He gave his spirit to that light. From the soul of Rasulullah, He created the souls of the prophets. From the souls of these prophets, He created the souls of their people who would come. Accordingly, Allah (swt) says in His verse, "The prophets are a single Ummah from one another". Since they were the first to be created, Allah took His covenant from them. He made a covenant with them. He asked these prophets if they accepted the prophetic mission, and when they said that they did, Allah entrusted this heavy and distinguished mission to them. In this respect, the prophets are the confirmers and helpers of each other.
Prophets living at the same time confirm and help each other. For example, Prophet Moses was given his brother Aaron, and Prophet John confirmed Prophet Jesus. All prophets confirm each other and are of the Islamic nature. Wisdom is also mentioned in this verse. People who are wise may not be prophets. The Companions who lived during the time of the Prophet were people of wisdom. A hadith of the Prophet (PBUH) states that these distinguished Companions were people of wisdom. (The guardian of my ummah is like the prophet of the tribe of Israel). It was their help to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that elevated the Companions and they are mentioned in the Holy Qur'an as (Muhajirin and Ansar).
All the prophets are those who know Allah as the Creator, who affirm that there is no other God but Him, who confirm each other and help each other. In this respect, Allah has made them close to Him through their covenant, and Allah has become their witnesses, just as the prophets are witnesses to each other.
What is said in the video
Verse 81 of the Surah. Could you give me some tea? This one has gone cold. Remember when Allah took from the prophets: After I have given you the Book and wisdom, when a prophet comes to you confirming what is with you, you shall surely help him. Do you affirm this? Do you take on this covenant of Mine?
The meaning here is a very deep meaning. Yes. So it is. (?)
When I said this, they answered: We accept. Thereupon Allah said: Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.
Look at the meaning. There is no error in a comparison. Take this as the spirit of the Prophet.
However many prophets were to come to the world, each takes a part of this spirit.
The first prophet He created. He asks this one still. Before even asking, He takes from this one, He takes from that one, He creates them. The first ones. Who are they? They are the first ones because they come from all of them. That is why all the prophets say: I am the first of Islam. He asks them: I will send you to your people. I will send you as a prophet. As a prophet. Do you accept? He says.
If he did not accept, perhaps He would destroy him. That is, He would annihilate him while there. And they say: Yes, we accept. Now look at the verse. What is it? Now what follows. Thereupon: Then bear witness. To whom? To the prophets there. All of them in the presence of Allah Almighty. Not to us, to them, to those prophets. Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses, He said. There you go. Witnessing for one another.
And He gave them such characters that it is not possible for them to step outside those characters and live their own wishes and desires. According to the verse: If We do not will, you cannot will. Now, is there anyone? Is there such a brave man? They have also translated it wrongly in the Quran: Allah took a pledge, and they went back on their word. What kind of knowledge is this? What kind of explaining a verse is this? What kind of mistake is this, attributing qualities to Allah?
Since Allah Almighty took a pledge, made a covenant, He gave them their characters; according to the verse We know the secrets of their hearts, He said, no one can step outside His covenant. So the scenario was written there; to prove what kind of person we are, we came to the world to hold ourselves as witnesses before Allah in the unseen realm through our deeds in the world.
Now do you understand what I meant by: they are all in one pot, and we are outside that pot? The verses with which they attribute qualities to Allah, as they are — there can be no such attribution to Him, and the meaning of the verse is not that either. Neither its state is that, nor its state at the root; with the words we explained, if I had been mistaken, the words would contradict one another; but look, all the verses confirm one another, everything you explain confirms one another. Whereas you: here you say this, there you say that; which one is right? Yes. So, remember when Allah took from the prophets: After I have given you the Book and wisdom — after giving in the world, before they even came, the first created ones — after giving, what is with you, that is, from your spirit I will also create the spirits of your tribe.
So the prophets are the elders and fathers of the tribes. Lot says, you know: Let me give you of my daughters. He says this: Give up homosexuality. Well, how many daughters did Lot have to satisfy them? Because he is the elder of his people, their father, he means them. He means the girls of that people. Let me give you of these, he says. Yes. When a prophet comes to you confirming what is with you, when a further prophet comes over you, you shall surely help him. Surely. Since no prophet will come again, since no prophet will come, the same verse applies to the scholars: you shall surely help him. He explains the verses of Allah, He says.
He confirms Allah. Their departure from this world is like the sun going and darkness coming, He says. You will be buried in darkness, He says. So you will help him too. With what? Not with money. Not with stamps. By believing in him. By believing in Allah's verses, by becoming a whole around him. With the language of one's state and with the tongue. By telling people what you have learned from him.
Yes.
Remember when Allah took from the prophets: After I have given you the Book and wisdom, when a prophet comes to you confirming what is with you, you shall surely help him. Do you affirm this? Do you take on this covenant of Mine, do you take on this word of Mine? All of them at once: Yes, yes. When I said this, they answered: We accept. Yes, we accept, we accept. So He worked those characters of theirs into it. So the words that have come since the verses above: they do not call people to themselves. They show the ways of Allah — here He now has that verse confirmed. Thereupon Allah: Then bear witness.
To whom? To them. And I am with you among the witnesses, He said. There you go.
Allah Almighty created from His own light the light of His Beloved, Muhammad (peace be upon him). Then He gave of His spirit to that light. And from the spirit of the Prophet He created the spirits of the prophets. And from the spirits of these prophets He created the spirits of the peoples to come. Accordingly, Allah Almighty says in the verse: The prophets are one single community descending from one another. One single community. Descending from one another. Yes. Because these were His first created ones, Allah took His covenant from them. That is, He took their word. He took a pledge. Now, would any of these prophets step outside that word and act outside what Allah commanded? Can you show a single prophet?
Because that was their covenant. No one can break his covenant. He cannot step outside his covenant. This covenant has become his destiny. No one can break his destiny. But poor people, poor people indeed, they say a person can change his own destiny. These are truly poor people, I say it like that.
Do you know what I liken them to? He likens them to people who have climbed the gallows, put the noose around their own necks, taken the stool under their feet, kicked it and are now dangling.
What a pity.
You make such a comparison, but Hodja, is there a hadith, a verse for this? Of course there is. Would I say such a thing if there were not? What does the hadith say? Look, it says: Whoever falls for the passion of being the head loses his own head. These are poor people who have fallen, on their own, for the passion of being the head. Yes.
Allah took His covenant from them. He made a covenant with them. He asked these prophets whether they accepted the duty of prophethood. When they said whether they accepted it, Allah entrusted this heavy and distinguished duty to them. For this reason the prophets confirm one another and help one another. So all the prophets announced the one who would come after them. And the last, the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace be upon him), they described as they know their own children, He says. As they know their own children.
In this verse, the verses found within this verse are all words that confirm one another.
At the same time, prophets living together help one another by confirming each other. For example, his brother Aaron being given to Moses. Like John confirming Jesus. All the prophets confirm one another and are upon the nature of Islam. And this verse also speaks of wisdom. People of wisdom, people, yes, people of wisdom may not be prophets. It is not that wisdom is given only to the prophets, that it is always given to the prophets. What does it say? The scholars are the heirs of the prophets. Which scholar? Not the one who finished university and got a label. It hurts them, but let them excuse me.
One who could not reform his nafs, took his label in his hand, and with a little Arabic, a little memorization, thought himself a scholar. Not that kind of scholar. The one of whom he said: The saint of my community is like a prophet of the Children of Israel. He does not hold them at the same level, but as if bringing them to that level. Why does he not hold them at the same level? Because revelation came to that one, the first one (?). And the other is a man of knowledge who received the meanings of the verses. On his level.
In the Torah that command came to Moses. The community of the Prophet (peace be upon him) has been loaded with the translation of more than 6600 verses, or with the Holy Quran. It has seen the meanings of the verses as far as our Lord has made known, as far as Allah has permitted. And He conveyed wisdom to it. And though they are not prophets, they are righteous servants on a prophet's level, He says. Allah Almighty calls them righteous servants. Yes.
What does it say now? The noble Companions who lived in the time of the Prophet are each people of wisdom. People of wisdom. If they had not been people of wisdom, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would not have said: My Companions are like the stars in the sky; whichever of them you follow, you will find the truth.
A hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) (?) tells that the noble Companions were people of wisdom. He says: The saint of my community is like a prophet of the Children of Israel. So, these people's helping Muhammad (peace be upon him) — did they not help? They helped, they closed ranks around him. They gave their lives for him. He exalted the noble Companions, and in the Holy Quran they are mentioned as the Muhajirun and the Ansar. The Muhajirun and the Ansar. So all the prophets are those who know Allah as the Creator, who affirm that there is no god besides Him, who confirm one another and help one another.
For this reason, through the covenants they gave, Allah made them near to His Being. Just as the prophets are witnesses for one another, Allah Almighty has also become their witness. Yes.
