Translation

Unless you spend from what you like (for the sake of Allah), you cannot attain goodness. Whatever you spend, Allah knows about it.

Tafsir

For the sustenance of human existence, the ego has been created selfish and greedy. Many traits such as gaining and taking the world, attachment to loved ones, and inseparability from them have gathered in the human soul. If a person reforms these traits for the sake of Allah and replaces these traits with the love of Allah for the objects of Allah's creation, he has reformed his nafs for the sake of Allah. One of the poets says in one of his poems (on a host, on a host). The meaning here is that a house cannot be on a house. In other words, two families cannot be comfortable in one house. Nor can there be two loves in one heart. Allah wants to turn the origin of people's love to Himself. Allah says in one of His verses, "If there is anyone to be loved the most, it is me". Therefore, if a person inclines towards Allah's creatures and loves them more than Allah, he forgets the purpose of his creation and lives in shirk and oppression, far from Allah.

Having love for Allah and expecting from Him, instead of having love for and relying on His creatures, perfects one's nafs and removes the masivas (evil deeds) from one's heart for the sake of Allah. In this case, by giving away what he loves, he is turning towards Allah (swt). He becomes a pure servant of Allah. In this respect, Allah (swt) tells people that unless you give away what you love, unless you spend it in the way of Allah (swt), unless you present whatever love is in your heart other than the love of Allah (swt) to Allah (swt), and unless you raise the love of Allah (swt) above it, you cannot perfect your soul and say, "I love Allah (swt) very much". In this respect, man should turn his face towards Allah and say: O Allah! My soul loves these things that You have created and I do not want to part with them, but I know that if I cannot love You more than these things I love, I will be committing shirk against You and I will not be worthy of You. If he says, "You are the creator of these things, and I am offering them to you in order to earn my eternal life in this temporary world, the Hereafter, I am offering them in your way," he will find the truth and Allah will reward him with Paradise.

Whatever a man spends in the way of Allah, Allah knows it truly. Allah, the Creator of the worlds, is not ignorant of the worlds so that they are left alone and Allah is not aware of them. Allah is the One who knows the state of all His creations and gives them life. Therefore, if man spends even a particle in the way of Allah, Allah knows it, and He knows the movements of man's heart and what is hidden in it. In this respect, Allah is Almighty.

What is said in the video

We have come to verse 92 of (?).

You will not attain righteousness until you spend in the way of Allah from what you love. Whatever you spend, Allah knows it fully, He says.

Yes. Until you spend in the way of Allah from what you love.

With the feelings of the nafs, a person always keeps what he loves for himself, the things he loves. For example, let's say he loves money very much or (?) very much, or he has some things he uses, extra shoes, a staff or a coat, and he loves these very much. Until he gives these in charity for Allah beyond his own needs, what does He say? Faith has not been perfected. Whatever you spend for Allah, He says, Allah knows it fully. Man was created with a selfish and greedy nafs for the maintenance of his existence. Man, with a selfish and greedy nafs. Many traits such as gaining the world, taking, attaching to what he loves, not parting from them have gathered in the human nafs. If man reforms these traits for Allah, and instead of these traits towards the things Allah created he puts the love of Allah, this person has taken the path of reforming his nafs for Allah.

If he renounces the things he loves. For example, let's say I have a tape recorder. A nicer tape recorder has come out. I am giving an example. It does the same job, but it is very (?). I call it (?). The desire of the nafs. We will give up these desires of the nafs. The extra money we would pay for it, we will give it in charity to a poor person, for Allah. Or we will make an orphan happy. Or we will feed a poor person. And these things we will do are such that, in Allah's sight, they raise our rank.

If, instead of these traits towards the things Allah created, he puts the love of Allah, this person has taken the path of reforming his nafs for Allah. One of the poets says in a poem: there cannot be guest upon guest. That is, there cannot be house upon house. Two loves do not stay together. Two watermelons do not fit under one arm. So either the love will be for Allah, and man will struggle with his nafs, or if he lives with his nafs, the love of the person who says he loves Allah, his love of Allah will remain like a pin next to his nafs, it will remain small. But if you ask that person, he says: I love Allah very much.

If you love Allah, if you (?) a little of your material things, no way, he cannot give. There are givers, of course. We have nothing to say about those givers. They are generous anyway. If there were no such people, the world would collapse. Of course there will be such people, (?). Those who give for Allah. Sir, but generally, generally he says I love Allah, just in words. If you love Allah, well, Allah tells you to cover your head, why don't you cover it? If you love Allah so much. When it comes to that, he can't go near it. That is what love of Allah is anyway. He tells you to cover your head; why don't you cover it?

You come bareheaded. Allah tells you to cover yourself properly; why don't you? You love Allah so much, don't you? So you don't love Allah very much, you love your nafs very much. You have not yet reformed your nafs. These are all measures for people. (?) maybe there is no love. Allah wants to turn people's love, their loves, the root of their loves, towards Himself. The root of the loves. Because there is no god other than Allah.

The world is nothing but a play and a toy. The world. Everyone came to this world to prove himself. No one is everlasting in this world. In this case, if man, as though everlasting in this world, loads the goods of the world on his back, is crushed under those goods, carries those goods like a porter, and lives this world of his in such a way that he cannot transfer anything to the Hereafter, and departs like that, he is like a bankrupt merchant.

These are only worldly goods. It is like collecting foam on a flood. The foam on top of the flood. You melt a metal, the metal has its foam, you see, like that. In the end you will leave these and go. Where? To the Hereafter, your true homeland, into the presence of Allah Almighty.

What Allah Almighty created, the blessings He bestowed on you, if you, as you see them for your own self, can wish them for the servants Allah created just as you wish them for yourself, then you have given charity for Allah. Sir, and what you spent, Allah Almighty, in one ear seven shoots, in each of the seven shoots a hundred grains of wheat, sir, a hundred seeds each, and just as He values them in this way, there is a reward from the Hereafter with Me, He says.

So, He says, you will not attain righteousness until you give for Allah. Righteousness. This is giving for Allah.

Allah wants to turn the root of people's loves towards Himself. Allah Almighty says in a verse: there is one who is to be loved most, it is Me. So man inclines towards what Allah created. If he loves created things more than Allah, that person forgets the purpose of his creation and lives far from Allah, in injustice. So where is the injustice here? I have money, I have a car, I have a house, I have a summer house, let me tell you, everything is at my command. Where is the injustice here? I live as I like.

First, turn to yourself. Ask your heart. That unease in you, that want and poverty Satan gives you, that stinginess, and your thinking about how to usurp people's rights, thinking about what your gain will be tomorrow and acting accordingly, not seeing love or sympathy even from your family at home, only those around you putting on a charade for you for their interests out of your wealth, and you knowing you do not have a single sincere friendship — isn't this a pain for you? But when you submit to Allah, even if the universe were on one side, people on one side, and you on one side, with Allah, He is enough for you, that peace is enough for you, then you are the rich one, rich.

They call Uwais al-Qarani to herd camels. For how much will you herd the camels? I will herd them for five mecidiye, he says, five mecidiye. Ooh, they say, so you've become a billionaire. Why, he says? If you take five mecidiye for every camel, we are finished, they say. No, it's not like that, he says, five mecidiye for all of them. Good heavens, aren't you mistaken, they say. No, no, five mecidiye is enough for me, he says. Five mecidiye.

He comes to that slave of one of the notables there, who (?) and lives in a poorhouse, to that slave. He says: I have become rich, rich. The slave thinks he found gold or something. He thinks he found a treasure. He also looks at the bundle in his hand. Ooh, dates, let me tell you, grapes, bread, flatbread. He says: I used to see these in my former master's house. Where, he says, did you find this wealth? I, he says, took on the herding of this village's camels. For what? Five mecidiye, he says. May Allah give you good, he says. And I thought you had something rich. I mean, I thought you had found a treasure, he says.

By Allah, he says, five mecidiye is enough for me. What would I do with more, he says. Look at the richness, look at the heart that is with Allah. Yes. But this is Uwais al-Qarani's. This is how you must be, like this. That heart must be like this. That (?), that (?), it is a wound in your heart. A wound. Yes.

So man inclines towards what Allah created; if you love created things more than Allah, that person forgets the purpose of his creation and lives far from Allah, in injustice.

Did I manage to set it up? A computer is needed, Hodja. A computer is needed. You'll set it up later.

Instead of loving and relying on Allah's creatures, loving Allah and expecting from Him brings a person's nafs to perfection. And for Allah that person will have removed from his heart the things other than Allah, that is, the evils. In this case, by giving in charity from what he loves, the person has turned to Allah Almighty.

He becomes a sincere servant of Allah. For this reason, unless people give in charity from (?) and spend them in the way of Allah, unless they offer to Allah whatever love there is in their heart apart from the love of Allah, and raise the love of Allah above those loves, man cannot attain Allah's mercy and cannot say I love Allah very much. As I said a moment ago. For this reason man will turn his face to Allah and respond like this: O Allah, my nafs loves these things You created. I do not want to part from them. But I also know well that if I cannot love You more than these things I love, I will have associated partners with You. I will not have been worthy of You as is due.

You are their Creator; in this guesthouse, a passing world, to gain my Hereafter, the eternal life, I offer these to You, I give them in charity in Your way — if a person says this, he finds the truth and Allah grants him His Paradise. So if man loves what Allah created more than Allah, without knowing it he falls into shirk. Hidden shirk. These are hidden forms of shirk. Whatever man spends in the way of Allah, Allah knows it fully. Allah, who created the worlds, is not apart from the worlds, so that they would be left to themselves and Allah would not be aware of them. Allah is the One who knows the states of all the things He created and gives them life.

For this reason, if man spends even an atom in the way of Allah, just as Allah knows it, He also knows the stirring of a person's heart and what is hidden in his heart. For this reason Allah has power over all things.
