Translation

Vow to that; the mu’min have received the great Grace of Allah, who has sent down a Prophet from amongst them, who recites Allah’s verses, who purifies them and who teaches them the Book and the wisdom. But before that, they were clearly in error.

Tafsir

Allah swears by His Essence that He has sent a messenger from among them who recites to them the Verses of Allah; people used to imagine a messenger from an angel or something else. Allah says that He has sent a prophet from among them who recites His Verses. In another verse, He says, "Whatever you are, We will send you a prophet of the same kind". This is the confirmation of the prophethood of Habib-i Kibriyya, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (s.a.w.), by declaring that We sent them a prophet who recited to them the Book, that is, the Verses, cleansed them from evil and disbelief, and taught them the Book and wisdom.

He conveyed the truth and taught them the Book and wisdom and what they did not know, and people learned the truth. Thus Allah bestowed a great favor on the believers. For they were in manifest error before Islam. Allah reveals His Verses to mankind so that they may attain salvation. For Allah is gracious and merciful to His creatures.

Before Islam, people who did not know what to do were sinful in their actions. Because they did not know the truth. Many of their deeds were based on lies and haram. By sending the religion of Islam to people, Allah guided them. He saved them from confusion. In this respect, when people embraced Islam, Allah was kind and merciful to them and forgave their sins. As long as the believers are on the straight path, they will have the mercy of Allah.

Thus Allah bestowed a great favour on the believers. Why? He sent the prophets, and those believers obeyed the Prophet. 'Yes, you are the Prophet; we bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah.' 'Whatever you love is the truth, and it is from Allah,' they said. These became believers. Those believers are the Companions who were aware of the divine manifestations. Yes, because before Islam they were in clear error, that is, they were in disbelief, they were in shirk. Allah explains His verses to people so that people may attain salvation. So then, if today these people (?), and we too, Allah's verses, with verses confirming one another, are explaining to people, then here, this like looking for a calf under an ox, the shortcomings in that person's words, those who race to find them and hit him over the head with them, and those who cannot fit it into their minds and say, 'Your words are all contradicting one another,' whereas there is no contradiction in any of them, and the verses confirm one another; those who speak like this about my words, who prove that they themselves are full of superstitions.

Now, to get rid of these, of those feelings, is hard for that person. For him to be freed, he needs fine patience, fine understanding, fine faith, and he must rule his nafs well, so that they are freed from those (?).

Allah explains His verses to people so that people may attain salvation. For Allah is very gracious and very forgiving towards His creatures. Before the religion of Islam, too, people who did not know what to do carried out their deeds as sinners.

Because they did not know the truth. The truth. Today it is the same. See how nicely we are comparing. We keep going by comparing. Today, too, people do not know. They have always (?) Allah. 'Allah did this, Allah did that.' 'Allah did not guide him to the right path.' 'Allah made him (?).' 'Allah will put him into Paradise.' 'Allah will burn this one in Hell.' These things. That is how we have always known it. Now we must move away from these. We must (?) from these. We must see the truth. We must know that we will be called to account for our actual deeds. For our actual deeds. That for the judgements, the decisions we ourselves made, we will be called to account, we must know this.

In this case, if we pin it on Allah: 'I won't do anything; if He is going to throw me into Hell, why should I worship? Why should I worship?' You know how it says, 'We created many of mankind and jinn for Hell' — Allah forbid, they accuse Allah in this way — 'then why should I worship? If I am in Hell, why should I go to Hell? Why should I worship? I'll pass my time here, do my lessons, my (?), have fun.' It is not like that. I have my partial free will, I have the decisions I make. What does Allah Almighty say about the realm of the hereafter? 'Without wronging anyone at all, what you have earned, as your own recompense, will be (?) given to you,' He says.

So in this world I must abide by what my Lord says, so that through the deeds I have done I may attain Allah's (?) mercy. Yes. Now, is what I am saying right? Or is it as they say: Allah will put people into Paradise and Hell, whom He wills into Paradise, whom He wills into Hell; Allah (?) so-and-so, how shall I put it, will attain guidance? These are absurd things. People who have no knowledge whatsoever about Allah. That is how I put it now. These people have no knowledge about Allah.

Isn't that so? It is.

Because they built their affairs on lies and the forbidden. By sending people the religion of Islam, Allah guided them. He saved them from confusion. So when people were honoured with the religion of Islam, Allah, being compassionate and merciful towards them, forgave their sins. And He made (?) firm. Now see how nicely we are opening up and reading the verses here. In what I am saying, is there any word that goes against Allah's religion, Allah's knowledge at all? Not only in this; we say it like this too. And then: 'There are contradictions in what you say, too.'

People's mouths are not sacks that you can tie shut. He says it; he may say it. He may even say, 'You are a heretic.' But when a person says something, he must prove it with verses. If he knows the verse in a superstitious form and, in that superstitious form, attacks in this way, he will still listen. Or he will ask by way of a question.

'How do you understand this?' Look how nicely our son Ercan puts it. 'Then,' he says, 'how do you understand this? How should we understand it?' That is what our son Ercan says. How nice. We are explaining these. Yes.
