Except for that old crone. She was with those who stayed back.
Tafsir
Hadrat Lut and his family, except for a husband and wife and an old man, he was one of those who were left behind.
Even though she set out with Hadrat Lot (peace be upon him), she disobeyed this order instead of continuing on their way without looking back, and since she was not one of the believers, the fact that she was the wife of Hadrat Lot (peace be upon him) did not benefit her and she passed away as a disbeliever. It is reported in the fifty-seventh Verse of the Surah al-Naml that this old woman was the wife of Hadrat Lut 'alaihis-salâm'.
What is said in the video
Verse 171: except an old woman; she was among those who remained behind, it says. She too continued on the road with Lot, but
because she too was one of them, she too received her punishment.
Of the family Lot took along with him, an old woman, an elderly one, was the exception; she was among those who remained behind. Although she set out with Lot (peace be upon him), where they were to continue on their way without looking back, she did not heed this command, and since she was not actually one of the believers, being the wife of Lot (peace be upon him) brought her no benefit and she passed on to the hereafter as a disbeliever. That this elderly old woman was the wife of Lot (peace be upon him) is stated in Surah An-Naml, verse 57. Shall we look? Surah An-Naml. Let's look. Sir, here let's look at Surah An-Naml.
What does it say there? In verse 57
of Surah An-Naml: Thereupon We saved him and his family, except only his wife, it says here. So that old woman was Lot's wife. Except his wife. She is among those who remained behind among those struck by the punishment.
Now this is a verse that is wrongly explained here. It says this: Thereupon We saved him and his family. Except only his wife. This part is correct. we wrote the same too. We decreed that she remain behind among those struck by the punishment, it says. Here Allah Almighty is using His will over that woman. Whereas the will lies wholly within man; when he made a covenant with his Lord, as a result of the covenant he gave to Allah Almighty, he had his wish written for himself as destiny. In this case, Allah Almighty takes this person's wish, desire and longing, and her will away from her, and it says that He, of His own accord, decreed hell for her – whereas how do we put it?
Except only his wife; she was among those who remained behind among those struck by the punishment. Not "We decreed". "She was among those who remained." Right? It is because she gave her covenant badly. Yes.
