Translation

It is not appropriate for the mu’min to embark on a battle altogether. From all segments, a group should stay behind to acquire knowledge of the religion and to explain the religion to the nations when they return (from the battle), so that they will abstain.

Tafsir

After the expedition to Tabuk, when verses started coming one after the other about those who stayed at home and those who stayed with them, Muslims started to go on expeditions together out of fear of Allah. When the Prophet (PBUH) saw that there was no one left in Madinah to study knowledge, Allah sent this verse. Although they went to war together and formed a force with unity and solidarity, the verse states that the people from each tribe should be left behind to teach the religion of Allah to the people in that tribe by leaving those who would teach them the religion of Allah by leaving those who would teach them the religion of Allah by not going to war. It is also essential that when the warring people return, there should be a group of scholars who will explain the religious sciences to them and guide them and teach them what they do not know.

Wars and wars may last for many years. In this case, those who can take up arms should take up arms, while schools, madrasas and centers of knowledge should continue. A nation can guarantee its future with the scholars it raises. States without scholars who are deprived of knowledge are the most backward nations today. In this respect, the fact that scholars are left behind to pursue knowledge, and that through this knowledge people's social life is elevated, and that they are able to advance in arms and maintain the independence of the nation and the sovereignty of the state, shows the value that Allah (swt) places on scholars.

In this respect, just as Allah (swt) recommends war for the survival and freedom of a state, He also recommends education and knowledge, and He recommends that a group from each tribe should teach knowledge and enlighten the people by explaining it to the next generations, so that the people may grow up with such scholars and the state may advance.

Verse 122 of Surah At-Tawbah, a wrongly interpreted verse, yes, verse 122 of Surah At-Tawbah, wrongly interpreted. What does it say here? First I'm reading the wrong one. Let's read the wrong one. It is not right for the believers to go out on campaign all together. Correct. From each section of them a group — religion. To gain broad knowledge in religion, in the religious sciences, and to warn their people when they return from war, should stay behind. Up to here it's correct. Where is the mistake? 'It is hoped that they will beware.' So Allah doesn't know — Allah doesn't know — 'it is hoped that they will beware.' That is, since there can be no deficiency in Allah Almighty's word, Allah's word — since we couldn't find its Turkish equivalent, what were we saying, what were we saying for it?

'So that.' That is, (?) a pointing to the people within. That is: so that they beware. That is, He knows those people. He points to them, too. So that they beware. Yes. After the Tabuk campaign, when verses about those who sat with the ones staying at home began to come one after another, the Muslims, out of fear of Allah, all together, sir, began to go out on campaign. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw that in Medina no one was left to teach knowledge, Allah Almighty sends this verse. Although by all going to war together, with unity and solidarity, a force is formed, leaving behind from each people those who will teach knowledge — to the people within that tribe, those who will explain Allah's religion and teach them knowledge, by not going to war so that they teach Allah's religion to people — their being left behind is made known in the verse.

Yes. So that scholars do not disappear, so that the literate teach children reading and writing, make Allah and His Messenger known, and explain Allah's verses to them, from among the scholars people to educate the people at the head of that tribe He has left behind. When those who fought return, these scholars will explain the religious sciences to them too, and see to their guidance; a group of scholars who will teach them what they don't know is also essential. I mean war — yes, we will all go together, but if the people who will teach the religion do not stay behind, that is war. If they too are martyred there, the handful of people left behind — who will educate them? In this case, Allah Almighty, His laws that will give life to people, how beautifully He makes them known.

Wars and battles can take many years. In this case, just as those able to bear arms are called to arms, schools and madrasas, homes of knowledge, must continue. A nation can secure its future with the scholars it raises. States deprived of learning, without scholars, are today the most backward nations. In this respect, the scholars staying behind for learning, and through this knowledge people's social life rising, and moving to the front line (?) in arms to keep the nation's independence and the state's sovereignty standing — this shows the value Allah Almighty gives to scholars.

In this respect, just as Allah Almighty recommends war for a state to stand and for its freedom, in return, and as its equal, recommending learning and knowledge, so that by such scholars people are raised and the state advances, that a group from each people teach knowledge, and that, explaining knowledge to the coming generations, people be enlightened — this, too, He recommends.
