Yunus 7: Verily, those who do not hope to return to Us and who are content and satisfied with the worldly life, they are ignorant about Our verses.

Translation

Verily, those who do not hope to return to Us and who are content and satisfied with the worldly life, they are ignorant about Our verses.

Tafsir

People who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day, who do not believe that there is a resurrection after death, who eat and drink and enjoy themselves in this world, who say that heaven and hell are in this world, who say that those who have money and live well live in heaven and those who do not have money and suffer in hell, who believe that there is no resurrection, are really short-sighted people who deceive their own ego.

If you ask these people, is there a God? Without any hesitation they will say yes, God exists. If you ask them who created these worlds, they will again say, Allah created them. If you ask them who created human beings, they will again say Allah created them. So what leads you to deny the existence of Allah and the Hereafter, even though Allah, who created these worlds out of nothing, has told you the truth through His Prophets and His Books?

What is said in the video

We left off at seven and eight, Surah Yunus.

Those who will come into Our presence, those who do not expect, those who do not expect to come into Our presence, those who do not expect to come into Our presence, who are content with the life of this world and find comfort in it, and who are heedless of Our verses, are there not such? Because of the sins they have been earning, the place they will reach is the fire, He says. Because of their sins, the place they will reach is the fire.

Those who do not expect to come into Our presence: who are they? Only, He says, the disbelievers lose hope in Allah. That there is no hereafter: because they are in doubt about Allah and His Messenger, they say, who has gone to the hereafter and come back? They say such things, but (?), but who knows, they say. People cannot use their minds. Where will we use our minds here, Hodja? Here you will use your mind on yourself. You are equipped with knowledge. With knowledge. With feelings. And with a capacity for reason. Today science has not been able to solve man's own existence, its secret. People who cannot give life to any living thing: that this order, by a Lord, that is, by a Creator, was created, those of sound reason, in no way able to escape, unable to (?) in any direction, the proof of Allah's existence they establish.

But the passions of the nafs and the pride, arrogance, egoism in them, self-importance, glory and fame, from submitting to Allah drove them away, and they fell into the state of lying disbelievers. That is, back at the address Elestü bi Rabbiküm, when with Allah Almighty they made the covenant, since our Lord created man close to His Essence, when man saw his Lord like himself, he could not believe in Allah Almighty and waited for the Lord of his own imagination. So that person had those thoughts written for himself as destiny. Thus, when man comes to the material world, he continues his life on the same natures, on the same characters.

Since he could not see there the Allah he expected, here too, when he does not see the Allah he expected, he does not believe in the hereafter. And the believers too, in doubt, never let their nafs taste the paths that lead to the hereafter. In that case, following the path of Satan and the two-legged taghut, this swamp-like state of the world, (?) the beauty of the zaqqum tree that grows in the middle of hell, the rosy look of the world, drawing him into its swamp, that is, the world drawing him into its own swamp, appearing pleasant, wins the person's love. And the person, inclining toward this loathsome and base world, turns his back on the hereafter.

In that case, these, for their own comfort, lie in the world as they please. They try to swindle people as they please. Where there is no law of theirs, they are governed by lawlessness. If these had not broken away (?) from their states' laws, and their laws are very harsh, in that case you could not cope with these people.

People who call Islam's law outdated, those who call it outdated, although they make their own laws harsher than Islam's laws, by their own minds, because they protect their own rights, they submit to the harshness of their own laws; but, with their own consciences, between Allah and themselves, to those who do not want to listen to the voice of that conscience that will judge, to such people Islam's laws feel heavy, of course. Yes.

So those who turn their backs on the hereafter, deceived by the world's temporary benefits, wanting to shoulder the world, people who lose hope in Allah, in the hereafter prepare their place in the fire. That is, they become people of hell. May Allah protect all of us, the whole ummah of Muhammad, from such feelings.

In Allah and the Last Day, in resurrection after death, those who do not believe, who in the world (?) well and enjoy pleasures and say paradise and hell are in the world, for they do say so: paradise is in the world, hell is in the world, they say. Well, how are paradise and hell in the world, we ask? When a person lives in a good state, he calls it paradise. A good state. For a good income, good wealth, a good life he says paradise, right? Hell, he says: if a person is subjected to torment, to torment, if he is afflicted with hardships, this is hell, he says. Oh, how lovely, then.

There is no Creator. There is no Creator providing your sustenance. Nor is there that Creator, Allah Almighty, who created dominion, furnished it for you and made you vicegerent in it. These all came about by themselves. This (?) sky, the stars, the heavens, the sun, the world, the lunar system in the sky came about by themselves. And paradise and hell became your life in the world. In hardship or in a good life, it became paradise and hell. Then, there is no afterwards. Now, let us say, paradise, hell are in the world, the hereafter does not exist. Let us say so. It cannot be, but by my own reasoning I say, let us say so, that is, let us think so.

I would not want such a life, for myself. If they let me live in the world as a king, gave the whole world to my house alone and had me run it, if they put in my (?) stones of ruby, of emerald, if they (?) treasures, if they put another treasure like the world in my (?), sincerely I say it: I would not want such a life. Why? Is there a more beautiful life than this? There is. What is it? However long you live here, since no living being survives, he will surely die. After death, what use will my life of a few hours here be? (?) let it be yours. This life has its beauty. This life has a pleasure.

This life has a desire and wish. If, likewise, the desire and wish of this life, in the hereafter, in the abode of eternal bliss, will continue, I do not look at this place this way. Nor do I want such a world. And I want the hereafter and turn my back on the world. But people want this temporary life, to the world's life of a few hours they (?), and turn their eternal, lasting life in the hereafter into a dungeon. Even if that did not exist, it would end with the life here; like animals one dies, passes, is gone. Is that it? Well, now, is there a (?) of sound reason that he thinks of? So this will have a continuation.

This life will have a continuation. This pleasure and enjoyment will have a continuation. Now I ask you.

If you were a thousand years old, look, a hundred years, three hundred, if you were a thousand years old and still your body were in health and well-being, you would want to live, you would want to stay in the world. You would not want to depart from the world if your health and well-being were in place. Not a thousand, even at two thousand years old you would not want to go. So, since this is a temporary place, even if like this I had a lifespan of a thousand years, two thousand, ten thousand years, I still would not turn and look at this place. Because there is an abode of bliss of an endless life.

Where is this? In the hereafter, paradise and hell. If you turn the abode of bliss of an endless world into an abode of endless torment, your creation as a human, your creation as the noblest of creatures. I created man in the finest form, He says; not living in a way worthy of that verse, and not using your mind, preferring this world to the hereafter: does that befit a human being?

Yes.

That is why a person must be intelligent. Intelligent. He must use his mind. Yes.

In Allah and the Last Day, that resurrection after death exists, those who do not believe, who (?) well in the world and enjoy pleasures, who say paradise and hell are in the world, that the one who has money and lives well lives paradise, and the one who has no money and suffers torment and hardship lives hell, and who believe there is no resurrection again, such people are truly short-sighted people who deceive their own selves. If you asked these people: does Allah exist? Without any hesitation, yes, Allah exists, he says. Because in the verse too, (?) Allah.

Ask who created these worlds. They say Allah.

Who created you? he says. He says Allah. Then from which direction are you being deceived? He says. From which direction.

In that case,

why do people, this, if you ask these people whether Allah exists, they too say yes, Allah exists.

What you are saying does not hold, Hodja.

Why? Darwin too says there is no Allah. I came from the monkey, he says. Not just Darwin, even if Darwin's teacher's teacher came, he too, that Allah exists, knows it. From where? He knows. How does he know? At the address Elestü bi Rabbiküm they said yes. That is, they said: I was created by a Lord. They waited for the Lord of their own imagination. In this respect, since (?) with none other than Allah, the Lord of their imagination did not appear. Therefore they will not be able to see their Lord, says Allah Almighty. So every person knows that by Allah he was created. (?) Yes. If you asked these people: does Allah exist?

Without hesitation. Yes. Allah exists, they say. If you ask who created these worlds, they again say Allah created them. Who created people? Again they say Allah created them. Well, although Allah, who brought these worlds from nothing into being, with His prophet and His books tells you the truth, into denying Allah's existence and the hereafter those who lead you.

No person thinks. No person reflects a little and uses his mind. Man. Allah Almighty created man capable, capable. Man, created from uns, (?) uns. That is, the forgetful. At the same time, capable too. Where does man get his capability from? Where does he get it from? Because Allah Almighty gave man uprightness from His spirit, man reaches the state of capability. That is, inventing things, making things, thinking, reflecting; man, who is equipped with many feelings, Allah Almighty thus creates as capable. Yes.

If man does not use his mind and, in a way that does away with this capability, looks with short sight through the eye of a needle, this person on earth lives as a satellite. With others' ideas, he has his own thinking mortgaged. He lives behind them, following their steps. He does not use his mind. He gets entangled with what pleases his nafs. In that case he forgets his own creation. He joins those who wrong their own selves.

Man shall think and reflect. He shall know where he came from, where he is going. Now a couplet of our Yunus Emre came to my mind. He who cannot know where he came from and where he goes was an animal. Yes. So, falling into the trap of your nafs and Satan, stuck in the swamp, the flowers that bloom in the swamp taking for life, standing up with a thousand and one difficulties, without sinking, wanting to carry on your life in this world, in exchange for which the abode of eternal bliss your nafs and Satan make you sell: can you not stand up against them? Against Satan. Allah Almighty created you with a will.

As I said earlier too: if, deceived by the swamp of this world, carried away by its all kinds of blooming flowers, you pull yourself toward the swamp of this rosy-looking world, if you set out to (?) it, if Satan too puts the (?) he gave you, the world's (?), around your neck and pulls you to the world, your character, your will, the value of your spirit, given to you by your Lord as a miracle, where has it gone? in that case for you, because you abandoned the hereafter, your place became eternal hell.

So, falling into the trap of your nafs and Satan, stuck in the swamp, the flowers that bloom in the swamp (?), standing up with a thousand and one difficulties, to carry on your life without sinking in this world you want, in exchange for which they make you sell the abode of eternal bliss, can you not stand against your nafs and Satan? As long as you continue this life, are you being unjust to your own self? Are you not responsible to Allah who created you? Thus, if they pass to the hereafter in return for the sins they earned, the places they reach are the fire. Fire. Yes.
