When Our verses were read openly to those who do not expect to return to Us (after death), they said, “either bring a different Qur’an than this one or alter this one.” Say; “To change it by myself is not a possibility. I follow nothing other than that which has been revealed to me, because if I rebel against my Lord, I shall fear the punishment of the great day.”
Tafsir
After the Prophethood came to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), when the Holy Qur'an was revealed to him through a simple revelation, the Prophet (PBUH) began to recite verses from the Qur'an. Those who were envious of his prophethood and who did not believe in Allah and the Hereafter, and who believed that there would be no questioning after death, objected to the recitation of these verses and said to the Prophet (PBUH) either bring another Qur'an or change this Qur'an. Allah (swt) continued the verse against the speech of these disbelievers and said: (It is not for me to change it on my own.) If people knew the grace of the Qur'an, its meanings and its principles, as well as the way in which each letter has a different meaning, and the way it guides, warns and gives life, they would not speak like this. The Prophet (PBUH), who grew up under the tutelage of Allah Himself and was sent to complete good morals for mankind, was aware of these truths and said that it was not possible for me to change them, and that I would not follow anything other than what was revealed to me. Allah's verse about His Messenger says, "He does not speak in vain", that is, he never says anything other than what Allah has revealed. Because he is the one who knows his Lord best among you. For those who do not fear Allah on the Day when every soul will be called to account, Allah has prepared Hell for those who do not believe.
The Prophet (PBUH) tried to explain to the people that the word of Allah will not change, that Allah (swt) did not send His verses incomplete and in such a way that people would be persecuted, that when people behave with their minds on earth, they will become enemies against each other, that He will eliminate these events, and that He will declare His laws that will give life to people with the Shari'ah law in a manner befitting the human nature, and that Allah (swt) is exalted from incomplete attributes and His words will never change. That Prophet sought refuge in Allah from the punishment of the great day.
So if a Prophet is afraid of that great day, how will people account for that great day? On that day of reckoning in the Hereafter, when neither children, nor wealth, nor patronage will help, if your companion is your faith, you will be among those who are saved. Otherwise, you will become a bankrupt merchant. If you appear before Allah as a sinner, then the torment of that great day will be around your neck. Even if you do not want to, you will be dragged towards hell. You will be one of those who pity your soul.
What is said in the video
When Our verses are recited to them clearly, those who do not expect to meet Us after death said: Bring a Quran other than this one or change it. Say: It is not for me to change it of my own accord. I follow only what is revealed to me. For if I disobey my Lord, I certainly fear the torment of a great day, it says. Because the verses of the Quran do not please the unbelievers. Either change this, that is, bring what pleases our nafs and we will take it from you, or else we do not recognize you. Say to them: I will not change it of my own accord, that cannot be. Because I am the messenger of Allah, the absolute Owner of these worlds, besides whom there is no god. Whatever He commanded me, I am obliged to carry it out.
Yes.
I follow nothing but what is revealed to me. Whatever I am told, I only carry that out and convey it to you.
Let us give you a hundred lira. Let us give you ten wives, let us have you treated by the doctors you need, let us give you the keys of Mecca, when they said this: even if they put the moon in one hand and the sun in the other, I would still not give up telling about Allah, he says. Yes, after prophethood came to Muhammad, and the Holy Quran was revealed bit by bit by plain revelation, the Prophet (peace be upon him) begins to recite from the verses of the Quran. Those who envied his prophethood and did not believe opposed the verses that were recited; people who did not believe in Allah and the hereafter, who believed there would be no questioning after death, said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): Either bring a Quran other than this, or change this Quran.
Allah Almighty, other than this denial, Allah Almighty says in the verse, again and again, against the talk of these deniers: Say to them, say: It is not for me to change it of my own accord. So there are meanings here now. One: I am Allah's messenger, I am obliged to do what He says. Two: if I go outside what Allah says, I will surely be punished. Three: and this is the most important point anyway. If this were the word of a human being, perhaps I would be with you. Even if mankind and jinn gathered, they could not produce the equal of a single letter of it. In this case, since Allah Almighty restricted human reason to a certain era, a certain time, to a certain degree, it is not possible for us to understand Allah Almighty's word, which rests on letters, or to know what meanings it carries.
Only as far as it addresses our reason, so that we understand, He sent down the verses of the Quran to us in a way we can understand, as evidence and as light before us. Within these letters, alongside these verses lined up in them, there is perhaps a secret of creation as well. We cannot know these. For this reason, even if mankind and jinn came, they could not say a word to match these verses. For example, what does Alif, Lam, Mim mean? Allah knows best. What is Alif? What is Lam? What is Mim? (?)
People may perhaps, according to their reason, say some things.
For example, Alif, the real Alif, the letter Alif is the beginning of Allah's glorious name. Allah. So, for the sake of that glorious name, that all the words spoken are true. Alif. That it is true because it is Allah's word. The letter Lam comes from billah. That too is ilah. An oath by Allah's essence. The letter Mim corresponds to a body. It corresponds to (?).
Sir, in this case people may (?) it like this according to their own reason. But what does it mean? What is it? What secrets of creation are in these? When these three letters come side by side, what do they mean? A formula, that is. For example, you know that two hydrogens and one oxygen make water. But these two hydrogens and one oxygen make water, yet there is One who created this hydrogen and oxygen too. With this Alif, Lam, Mim, with Ta-Ha, with Ya, I mean with Ta-Ha, with Sin, with Ya-Sin, sir, when these come side by side, what kind of thing is created, and when they come side by side, what happens?
Allah knows best. But, it says, those with a disease in their hearts set out to give them meaning. That is, those who have sickness in their hearts. In this case, the Messenger of Allah says: this cannot be. That is, it is not possible for me to change this, he says. Because even if mankind and jinn gathered, against Allah's word they could not produce its equal. I am not saying it, Allah Almighty says it in the verse. Yes.
It is not for me to change it of my own accord. If people knew the subtlety in the Holy Quran, its meanings and its rules, and at the same time how each letter, carrying separate meanings, shows a way with (?), its warnings and the life it gives, they certainly would not speak like this.
So the Prophet (peace be upon him), raised under Allah's own training and sent to people to complete good character, because he was aware of the truths: I cannot change these. It is not possible for me, he said, I follow only what is revealed to me, he said. He followed whatever was revealed, and there is a verse about him. He does not speak idly. That is, he says the verses themselves. So every hadith must correspond to a verse. If a person (?) a hadith to me, if it does not correspond to the verses, it is not a hadith. If a person who has said the shahada is a Muslim, is a Muslim, as it says here, sir, unless you love one another, having believed, if he wants to be, can that be a hadith?
The Diyanet calendar. They write this like that. They do not know. Muslim took it from the book like that, and they never think of the responsibility. The responsibility. It is written in Muslim, so fine. It is written in Bukhari, so fine. But how did this man translate it when he translated it here? By what reasoning did he translate it? How much knowledge does this man have that it was translated accordingly? No one thinks. That is how he understands it, that is how he translates it. What is it? A hadith. In Bukhari, in Muslim, here, there. And then when we say these are not hadith, these men erupt.
Saying this man denies the hadiths. My dear, am I denying the hadith, when you, calling it hadith, is there a greater sin than slandering the Messenger of Allah with what is not hadith? You are the slanderer. If I deny, it is denial. Let us say that with my denial I commit a sin against myself, with my denial. This sin is on me. On me personally. But you are slandering someone. What is the sin of that? May Allah protect us. And they say it without shame. This man denies the hadiths. Now, is the one who denies the hadith, which of course is not a hadith, a sinner, or is the slanderer more sinful?
Yes.
They put their finger on places they do not know. Places they do not know. They have given themselves over to the passion of being leaders. So that they come to be like the people in this hadith: Whoever falls into the passion of being head loses his own head, it says.
So, people who wind it around their own heads, who by slander pull themselves onto the gallows, such people. So the Prophet tried to explain to people that Allah's word will not change, that Allah Almighty did not send His verses deficient, so that people suffer injustice, that when people act on earth by their own reason, they will become enemies to one another; that, removing these events, in a way befitting people's nature, he would make known by sharia law the laws that give people life, and that Allah is free from deficient attributes and His words will never change. That Prophet (?) Allah from that day, the torment of the great day.
So if a prophet fears that great day, how then will people give account of that great day?
In the hereafter, on that day of reckoning, on a day when neither children, nor wealth, nor connections avail, if your companion is faith, you enter among those who attain salvation; otherwise you end up like a bankrupt merchant. If you come before Allah as a sinner, then the torment of that great day wraps around your neck. Even if a person does not want it, he is dragged toward that hell. So you become one of those who wrong their own nafs.
Yes.
