(Oh Muhammad!) If they turn away, say; “Allah is enough for me, there is no God but Allah. I only put my trust and rely on Allah. Allah is the Owner of the Mighty Throne.”
Tafsir
If people do not believe in such a Prophet, and if they still continue in the mire of ignorance and rebellion, say: Allah is sufficient for me. Surely Allah is sufficient for everyone. Whoever has been with Allah and has suffered any harm, even if people are afflicted with calamities in the land, even if they lose their lives. Those who strive hard in the way of Allah with their lives and their wealth, and have the mercy of Allah, and have sold their lives and their wealth to Allah in exchange for Paradise. Surely these are people of great gain.
Allah is enough for the person who is with Allah. Even if the whole universe is on one side and no human being speaks to you, if a person is on the side of Allah, if he has surrendered to Allah, then of course he is a winner, he does not need anyone. Because he has surrendered to Allah, there is no God but Him. Allah is the owner of the great Throne.
By saying the owner of the Throne, he means the whole universe and his creations in it. The Throne encompasses the universe. To give an example, take the outer walls and roof of a building, it is a building in its entirety. When you ask about the owner of the building, those who know him will say: This building is the building of so and so person. Enlarge the building in your imagination, imagine that there are a gazillion apartments in it, and that tenants live in these apartments. The building is not called by the names of the tenants, but by the name of the owner of the building. They say that so-and-so is the one who built or constructed this building. This building belongs to that person. The tenants inside are tenants, they come and go. The Throne of Allah encompasses the universe like a building, and when it is called the Throne of Allah, it means that the heavens and the earth and all that is between them belong to Allah, and that Allah is the owner of all that He has created.
If Allah is the owner of the Great Throne and all creation within it, then to rely on Him and to be with Him means to take the universe at His command. It is sufficient for the one who is with Allah not to look back to the universe, for the one who is with Allah to be with Allah, and for Allah to bestow His mercy on this servant. The meaning of "sufficient" here is: It means that according to people's rank in the sight of Allah, according to their desires and wishes, He pleases them and fulfills their desires for eternity. And this is only for Allah.
What is said in the video
Surah At-Tawbah, once we complete its verse 129, we will have finished Surah At-Tawbah, God willing.
Its last verse: Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Fe in tevellev fe kul hasbiyallâhu lâ ilâhe illâ hû, aleyhi tevekkeltü Ve hüve rabbü'l-arşi'l-azîm. O Muhammad, if they turn away, say: Allah is sufficient for me, there is no god but Him, in Him alone I have trusted and relied, He is the Lord of the mighty Throne, says Allah Almighty. From this verse I understand this: people, as captives of their own nafs, following their nafs, run after the two-legged taghut of human kind. Deceived by the temptation Satan gives their nafs, they run after the temptation Satan gives. Within their carnal feelings, a person runs after those called stars on television, sinful people laden with sin, the pioneers of kufr.
If they strip stark naked, with carnal feelings, with the tattoos they have even down to their private parts, people envy them. If they run after him, after those tattoos, if they run after them, then those who follow the love of Allah, those who love Allah, Allah Almighty addresses them. He is addressing the Prophet (peace be upon him). In fact He is addressing all people too. Look what He says: O people. Do not run after that filth. Do not run after those people who follow their nafs. Aduvvallâhi ve aduvvekum, He said. The enemies of Allah and your enemies, the two-legged taghuts and Satan, do not run after them. Lest the world seem attractive to you and you run after it.
Do not fall into forgetting Allah, do not fall; you go on the path of Allah. If, while you go on the path of Allah, they reproach you, if they look down on you, say this to them. Not this world's fill, but even another world's fill, were they to say to you; since neither humans nor jinn, even united, could withstand the power of Allah, since the world has a passing life, passing, and in the end every soul will taste death, when you return to the presence of Allah Almighty, who said your return is to Me, at that Supreme Court, on that Day of Reckoning, when your account is taken,
thinking of that time, say to them, say to them: not this world's fill, even if it were another world's fill, even if you drive us out of these worlds, we will never compromise on the path of Allah. O people, if you turn your back on Allah and turn your face away from Him, if you step outside Allah's commands, at that Supreme Court you will find neither a helper nor an intercessor. So, so that you can prepare your provision for the hereafter, without running after those pioneers of kufr, going on Allah's straight path, which He calls sirat al-mustaqim, even if not this world but this world's fill of people reproach you, say to them: Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and the great Throne, is sufficient for me, He says.
Yes, say: He is sufficient for me. Then you will attain salvation, attain deliverance.
O Muhammad, if they turn away, say: Allah is sufficient for me, there is no god but Him, and in Him alone I have trusted and relied. He is the Lord of the mighty Throne. Now if those people do not believe in such a Prophet and people still go on in the swamp of rebellion with ignorance, say: Allah is sufficient for me, He says. Of course Allah is sufficient for everyone. He is everyone's Lord.
Who has ever been with Allah and suffered harm? So much so that even if people meet with calamities on earth and lose their lives, those who strive in Allah's way with their lives and wealth and attain Allah's mercy, selling their lives and wealth to Allah in return for Paradise, surely these are people who have made a great gain. So the one who is with Allah: for a person Allah is enough; even if the whole universe were on one side and no one spoke to you, if a person has taken his place beside Allah and submitted to Allah, he is surely in gain, he no longer needs anyone. Because he has submitted to Allah, besides whom there is no god.
And Allah is the Lord of the great Throne. What does this Throne mean? Pardon the comparison. Consider this universe as a building. A building. A building as you know it. Take it as a skyscraper. A seven-storey building. On each floor there are flats. Flats.
Take these flats on the floors, that is, within these seven heavens, as what Allah has created.
The outer wall of that building, the outer wall, is the Throne. Take it as the Throne. Take it so, it is the Throne anyway. That is, these seven heavens that Allah Almighty created, Allah Almighty has enclosed with His Throne. Just as, if that seven-storey building, with its roof and its outside, belonged to a person, whose would it be? Ahmet Efendi's building. Even with thousands of tenants inside, it is not called by a tenant's name. Whose building is it? Ahmet Efendi's. It is called Ahmet's building. So these seven heavens, the heavens and the earth, and the Throne of Allah surrounding them, just like the outer shell of the building; when it says Throne of Allah, when it says Allah's Throne, it means the Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them.
It means their Owner. Yes.
Lord of the Throne refers to the whole universe and the creatures within it.
His Throne has encompassed the universe. If we were to give it a measure, take the outer walls and roof of a building. It is a building as a whole. As a whole.
When you ask about the building's owner, those who know say this building is so-and-so's. It is Mehmet Efendi's building. Enlarge the building in your imagination. Imagine there are trillions of flats inside and that there are tenants in these flats. The building is not called by the tenants' names, and it does not belong to the tenants. If the one who built it or had it built is so-and-so Mehmet Efendi, this building is a building belonging to Mehmet Efendi. Those inside are tenants, they come and go. Just so the Throne of Allah has encompassed the universe. Like a building, it has enclosed what is inside.
When Allah's Throne is said, it means that all created earths and heavens and what is between them belong to Allah and that Allah is the Owner of these creations. We wrote it the same way here in the tafsir too. If Allah, with His great Throne, is the Owner of all creation and what is in it, then to trust and rely on Him and be with Him means to have the universe at one's command. Yes. What does this mean? Are you not the caliph of the earth? Did Allah not give the disposal of this world into your hands? Caliph. Yes. So, for the one who is with Allah, by being with Allah without turning to look at the universe, Allah's generosity to this servant and His being sufficient for him; the meaning here of His being sufficient is to please people according to their ranks in His sight, their wishes and desires, and to fulfil their wishes eternally.
And this belongs only to Allah, we said. Yes. In that case, if Allah Almighty is the Owner of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if by saying Throne of Allah He means the whole universe, the whole universe, if a person is together with Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty is with him too. Allah Almighty says: I become the walking foot, the holding hand, the seeing eye, the speaking tongue of the one who remembers Me, He says. The speaking tongue. So, those who enter among the righteous servants: when a calamity is sent to a town, Allah Almighty takes those righteous servants out of that town and rains that calamity down on the others.
In that case, if we bring the prophets to mind, the prophets of the peoples that were destroyed and those who followed those prophets, Allah Almighty took them out of that town, and then rained His calamities on those who deserved them.
