Translation

And my people! Use measure and scale with justice. Do not give people their possessions incompletely; do not walk around the earth as mischief makers.

Tafsir

Hazrat Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) warned his people: "O my people! Do not exceed the limit in measuring and weighing, do not cheat people, do not usurp their rights by cheating in your weighing. Do not betray trusts by giving people's goods incomplete. Do not be sinners against Allah, Who created you, by being deceived by the temporal worldly goods. O my people! Do not create enmity among yourselves by short-changing people's property and making enemies of the rightful owners. Do not go about in the earth as corrupters. Do not oppress people in the places where you go because of what you have done. For every soul will taste death and will give account before Allah one day. Remember that day of reckoning. He said to be servants of Allah.

Surah Hud, verse 85, again Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) calls out to his people: and O my people, give measure and weight with justice, do not give people less of their goods, do not roam the earth as corrupters, he says, as corrupters. Shu'ayb (peace be upon him), to his people, warning his people: O my people, do not transgress the limits in measure and weight. Do not cheat people. Do not (?) their rights by cheating in your weighing. Do not betray trusts by giving people less of their goods. Do not, deceived by fleeting worldly goods, become sinners against Allah who created you. O my people, by giving people less of their goods and making the rightful owners your enemies, do not stir up hostilities among yourselves.

Do not roam the earth as corrupters. Wherever you go, do not wrong people through the deeds you do. Because every soul will taste death and will one day give account in Allah's presence. Remember that day of reckoning, be servants of Allah, he said. Yes.
