Lower your wings (of mercy) to the mu’min who follow you.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) says to the Prophet (s.a.w.): "Be merciful to those who believe in Allah and obey the Prophet, for they do not know what you know. Surely people commit mistakes because they are mistaken. So do not hurt those who follow you, and tolerate their mistakes.
In this case, the Prophet (PBUH) is the example for us and Allah (swt), in the person of the Prophet (PBUH), addresses all Muslims and commands them to be compassionate and merciful towards each other, as people who follow Allah (swt) and His Prophet (pbuh) within the same religion and understanding are brothers and sisters to each other.
What is said in the video
Surah Ash-Shu'ara, verse 215, yes.
'Lower your wing of mercy to the believers who follow you.' Look how beautifully it says it now. 'Lower your wing of mercy to the believers who follow you.' Allah Almighty's saying to the Prophet (peace be upon him), 'Lower your wing of mercy to the believers who follow you,' means: toward those who believe in Allah and obey the Prophet, be merciful. Because they don't know what you know. Of course. 'If you knew what I know,' he says, 'you would laugh little and weep much,' he says. Yes. Be merciful toward them. Be forgiving. And see them as children, He says. Because you are a mature person. You came as a mercy to the worlds.
And them, He says — just as the idolaters, without knowing the truth, worshipped idols. Then they saw the truth, heard it, understood it. They came to Islam, and We forgave them, He says. Right? It was the age of ignorance. And when people come to you, when they pledge allegiance to you, forgive their mistakes. Because they don't know what you know. They haven't lived what you have lived. In time, through kashf, they too will understand. But still they cannot understand as you understand. Yes. Allah Almighty — since we too cannot understand as the Companions understood — look what He says about the Companions here.
How beautifully He says it here. Let me tell you that now. Let's read that part. Let's read from here. Surah At-Tawbah, verse 100. Surah At-Tawbah, 100. Look what it says now: Allah Almighty: 'The first to lead the way in entering the religion of Islam, the Muhajirun and the Ansar, and those who follow them in goodness' — you know, that (?) — if we follow them in goodness, you know, them — 'Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Allah.' How beautiful. If we follow them in goodness we will be mu'mins, mu'mins.
'For them Allah has prepared gardens, in which they will abide forever, beneath which rivers flow. That is the great salvation.'
States can win victories against each other. The victory it won today, it celebrates as a holiday. But tomorrow you see it has been defeated somewhere. This time the other has won a victory.
states have, more or less, been defeated. The Ottomans' (?) ending in their breakup. Right? So in this situation, Allah Almighty — to people: the victories you have won on earth, of course (?) when it comes to Muslims, but the true victory is living Allah's commands as Muslims, going to the hereafter, before our Lord, with a fine rank, attaining His Paradise, entering among His servants, His righteous servants — the victory of those who at that moment attain His gardens is the true victory. When they come before Allah Almighty at the Supreme Court, the victory won by the servants whom our Lord welcomes with a smiling face is the true victory.
That is the eternal victory. The victories here are temporary. They are forgotten, gone. For example, they declared 27 May a victory. They hanged the innocent Adnan Menderes.
So they declared victory. What happened then?
Their victory came down on their own heads. And finally those innocents were exalted.
So when will the truths come to light? When you fulfill Allah's commands, being innocent, in Allah's hand we will rise. There we will attain victory.
So in this case, our example is the Prophet (peace be upon him), and Allah Almighty, in the person of the Prophet (peace be upon him), in fact addresses all Muslims, and since people who, within the same religion and understanding, follow Allah Almighty and His Prophet are one another's brothers, that they be compassionate and merciful toward one another He commands. What will come of it? If I'm compassionate and merciful to you, what happens, then? We become brothers. Being brothers, we can't think ill of you. If we can't think ill, if you cover my faults and I cover yours, and if we warn and correct each other about our faults this way, we are bound together by the chain of Muslim brotherhood, become one body. And that one body becomes a strong force.
It becomes a single force.
Look, today, in the operation carried out by Muslims, the Afrin operation, at 85 — I am 80 years old too. Truly, if they took me today, I'd go to the army. By Allah, I'd go; my heart is weeping blood anyway. That's how our nation is. From that light of faith it has become one body.
Doesn't strength come from this? Had there not been a single force, had there not been this light of faith in people, July 15 would not have come about. The victory of July 15 would not have come about. That's why Allah Almighty also says in His verse: do not divide, be united, there is strength in unity. How beautifully He says it. The verses always support one another. To one who understands, a mosquito is a reed pipe; to one who doesn't, drum and zurna are too little, it says. Yes.
