Translation

Oh you believers! Do not leave the believers (mu’min) and befriend the infidels. (By doing this), do you want to give a clear evidence to Allah, against your own-selves?

Tafsir

(O you who believe, do not leave the believers and take the disbelievers as friends. Because they do not share the same beliefs, they cannot agree with each other. But they wish that the people of faith would side with them. Then they can make friends with them. In another verse, Allah (swt) says, "Whoever befriends the disbelievers is like them". So if the people of faith leave the believers and seek friendship with the disbelievers, they are like them.

(Do you want to give Allah a clear proof by doing this?) O you who believe! And whoever engages in such an act, know that Allah is All-Knowing and All-Watchful over His creatures, so do you want to make Allah a witness and a proof against you by your deeds and your friendships with the disbelievers, which cannot be denied openly?

O you who believe! Allah's Verses are not to be taken lightly. Do not turn your backs on Allah for the temporary realm of property. Allah's laws give life to people. They enable people to live on earth as brothers and sisters. In order to ensure this kind of life, the light of Allah is needed. One of the ingredients of that light is Allah's Justice, of which He has not been lacking a hair's breadth. The result of the unity of those who possess that light is to prevent injustice and oppression by a deterrent force or actual action against those who would commit injustice and oppression, and to protect Allah's justice and His creation on earth. Whoever judges by the Verses of Allah, he has dealt in his own favor. And whoever turns away from the Verses of Allah, let them know that they will not be able to humble Allah wherever they are in the universe.

What is said in the video

Verse 144 of Surah An-Nisa. O you who believe! Do not take the disbelievers as friends instead of the believers. Look how beautiful. Pay close attention here. Look at the verse. O you who believe! Who are they? Muslims. O Muslims! O Muslims! Do not take the disbelievers as friends instead of the believers. Look how beautiful: those who have risen to the nafs-i mutmainna, become believers, come to know Allah's manifestations and speak the truth — do not take others than them as friends, it says, because they draw you onto bad paths. Even if a Muslim is a Muslim, do not take anyone but a believer as a friend, it says. What does it say? O you who believe, among those who believe, do not take much as friends those who are not believers.

Why? Because they are, well, like this. (?) It is not clear how they will end up either. Yes, O you who believe, do not take the disbelievers as friends instead of the believers. Here it speaks of the disbelievers, I — in the affairs of the Muslims too, everyone, do not take friends from everyone, then you will come to ruin. But a believer keeps his friendship intact. A believer — here Allah Almighty says it so beautifully. O you who believe, do not take the disbelievers as friends instead of the believers. Do you want, by doing this, to give Allah a clear proof against yourselves? it says. Do you want to give Allah a clear proof?

That is, do you want to give Allah Almighty a clear proof that you envy them? Perhaps the Muslim in front of you doesn't know that you envy them, but Allah Almighty knows the secrets of your heart. Yes. O you who believe, do not take the disbelievers as friends instead of the believers. These do not form friendships with the people of faith. Because they do not share the same beliefs, an agreement between them is not possible. Rather, they want the people of faith to take their side. Only then can they be friends with them. In one verse Allah Almighty says: whoever befriends the disbelievers is like them, He decrees.

So if the people of faith leave the believers and set out to befriend the disbelievers, they too are like them. Do you want, by doing this, to give Allah a clear proof? O you people of faith, whoever falls into such behavior, know that Allah is aware of everything and watches over His creation — do you want, against yourselves, clearly, that is openly, through undeniable actual deeds you have entered into with the disbelievers, through your friendships, to hold Allah as proof and witness against yourselves? O you who believe, do you want to make Him proof and witness?

O you who believe, Allah's verses are not to be taken lightly. One does not turn one's back on Allah for the transient material world. Allah's laws give life to people. They let people live like brothers on earth. And for such a life to be secured, Allah's light is needed. One of the elements of that light is Allah's justice over people, without falling short even by a hair's breadth. The result of the bearers of that light uniting strongly together is a deterrent force against people who would commit injustice and oppression, or, by actual action, preventing oppression — protecting Allah's justice and His creation on earth. Whoever judges by Allah's verses acts in his own favor. And whoever turns away from Allah's verses, let them know that, wherever in the universe they may be, they cannot render Allah helpless.
