Translation

You will see the ones with a sickness in their hearts run among them and say “we fear that a calamity will come upon us”. This is for them to have regret for what they hide inside them when Allah brings a conquest or an order from Allah’s presence.

Tafsir

(Those whose hearts are diseased, that is, those whose faith is weak, those who doubt the existence of Allah, those who do not fully believe in the existence of the resurrection after death and the Hereafter, those who love their lives and possessions too much, such people tend to cooperate with non-Muslims who are enemies of Islam and to make them their friends. However, non-Muslims make a fuss among Muslims to show that they are very powerful. In this case, they want to divide and fragment Muslims. People of weak faith, who listen to these clamors, take refuge with them, adopting the life of the kuffar, saying that they are afraid that some calamity will befall them. If these people who sought refuge with the infidels were Muslims who sought refuge with Allah, they would have sought Allah's help and surrendered to Him.

Is it not the greatest of calamities that for the sake of temporary worldly benefits and life, fearing the calamities that will befall them, they run to people who are outside the command of Allah, and buy the permanent torment of the Hereafter in exchange for a few hours of comfortable life in this world?

That is, perhaps Allah (swt) sends an order from Himself, that is, a commander, a taskmaster, or gives the Muslims a conquest, and when the Muslims achieve victory, those who envy the non-Muslims and take their place with them will regret the love for the kufr hidden in them. When they pass on to the Hereafter without repenting, their regret will not benefit them when they see the torment there. In fact, these people who appear to be repentant in the Hereafter are actually people who express their regret in their tongues because of the pain of the punishment. In their hearts they are still in the same morals. If they could change their morals and character, if their souls were perfected, they would not have compromised Islam and joined the ranks of non-Muslims. Such people are the ones who are cruel to their own souls.

Allah (swt) shows people their characters and what they are capable of with His verses. In people's daily lives, with their actions, behaviors and speeches, people's place in the sight of Allah, just as the goldsmith knows how many carats of gold it is when he strikes the gold on the touchstone, people's situations and characters are revealed when their situations are compared with the verses.

What is said in the video

Yes, verse 52. These pages are all like this anyway, look, these pages are all like this, full of red, full of red. Yes, pages full of red.

Those in whose hearts there is a disease, saying, "We fear that this disaster will befall us" — you see them running in among them. It may be that Allah a victory or, yes, a command from Himself will bring, and then they, over what they hid within themselves, will become regretful, it says. Now, what is wrong here?

"Saying 'we fear', you see them running in among them." Here it says "it may be that", whereas: those in whose hearts there is a disease, saying "We fear that a disaster will befall us" — you see them running in among them. Until, when Allah brings a victory or a command from Himself, they will regret what they hid within themselves. This is the correct rendering of the verse.

In whose hearts there is a disease — that is, those whose faith is weak, who are in doubt about Allah's existence, who cannot fully believe in resurrection after death and in the existence of the hereafter, who love their lives and property dearly — such people incline toward the non-Muslims who are enemies of Islam, cooperating with them and taking them as friends. Whereas the non-Muslims, raising an uproar among the Muslims, regard themselves as being very strong. In this situation they want to divide and break up the Muslims. Today's situation is the same.

People of weak faith who listen to this uproar — you see them saying "We fear that a disaster will befall us", adopting the way of life of kufr and taking refuge with them. Yes. Aren't there such people among us today? "What need was there?" they say. "Seriously, what need was there? What were we going to do?" What were we going to do? We'd have done whatever the non-Muslim says. Come on, the non-Muslim is unable to protect himself. The non-Muslim is unable to advance himself. And we have our honour, we have our dignity, we have our faith. Well, if you compromise this honour and faith, and see the unbelievers as strong — now they raise an uproar, "We are strong, we're like this, we're like that" — if you take refuge with them, you'll have neither honour, nor self-respect, nor dignity left. Well, today it's the same situation.

(?) Aren't they talking? They are talking. Yes. These people who give their hearts to the unbelievers and take refuge with them — if they were Muslims who gave their hearts to Allah, they would expect help from Allah and submit to Allah.

Fearing the afflictions that will befall them, for transient worldly gain and for their lives, running to people who are outside Allah's command, and for a few hours of comfortable worldly life buying the everlasting torment of the hereafter — is that not the greatest of afflictions? Of afflictions. Look, it's as if I'm describing this very time. As if, well, too much. Yes.

Until, that is, perhaps Allah Almighty sends from Himself a command — that is, a commander, a duty; and did He not send one? There, Tayyip, Allah's mercy, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. By Allah's mercy, one who came to the head of the Islamic world, a person. A person under the protection of Allah Almighty. Yes. I say it because I saw it myself, that he is under Allah's protection. One day I did an istikhara about him, about what kind of person he is. Something like a room, an arm of my Lord, inside that arm. In the middle of it. I said: they will fire missiles at this one from the air. They will fire cannons from the ground. No one will be able to do anything to him.

We still say that. And we said he is under the protection of Allah, our Lord. So there, Allah sent one. Now those who still want to take refuge with the non-Muslims, those who want to take refuge with the non-Muslims, are in the same situation.

They flatter them. They compete in agreement with those who betray the homeland.

If you, too, like a Muslim, believed in your Lord, leaned your back on Allah, accepted what comes from Him — if, with our honour and dignity, on this homeland, the blood of our forefathers we preserved and lived in peace in these lands, and you too found peace in your heart — wouldn't that do? Allah is merciful to His servants. Those who regret what they did, (?), those who turn back — great rewards He gives them. Yes. What are we saying? Until, that is, perhaps Allah Almighty sends from Himself a command, that is, a commander, a duty, or grants the Muslims a victory, and when the Muslims attain victory, those who, envying the non-Muslims, took their places beside them regret the love for the unbelievers hidden inside them.

Since they pass on to the hereafter without repenting, when they there see the torment, their regret will be of no benefit to them. In fact these people who seem to regret in the hereafter are really people who, from the pain of the torment, show regret with their tongues. In their hearts they are still of the same character. Indeed, had they been able to change their character and nature, had their nafs found perfection, they would not have compromised Islam and gone among the non-Muslims. Such people are wrongdoers against their own selves. So Allah Almighty, through His verses, shows people their characters and what they may do, with His eternal Word.

In people's daily lives, by their conduct and manners, their behaviour and speech, people's standing with Allah — just as a goldsmith, striking gold on the touchstone, understands how many carats it is — so too, when people's states are compared with the verses, their condition and character come to light.
