(Then) those who believe will say “are these the ones who vow with all their power that they are on your side?” Everything they are doing will go in vain and they have become the losers.
Tafsir
The people who pass on to the Hereafter as people of faith will say to those who oppress their own souls by showing the people who have become Muslims and have gone to the kuffar and have lost their faith to the kuffar: "Are these the ones who swore with all their might that they were with you, and who, while they were in this world, were afraid of you, so they took their places with you and settled down?
All the good deeds that these people and the kuffar did while they were in this world have been in vain. Because he has left as a kufr. Those who rebel against Allah and His Messenger, those who do not fear Allah, those who prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter, are on the path of disbelief.
People who disbelieve and pass on to the Hereafter without repentance are losers. This loss is not the loss of material things in this worldly life. Indeed, the life of this world will one day come to an end. Allah (swt) says in His verse, "The inheritance of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah", all souls will taste death and Allah (swt) will inherit these worlds.
This loss is the loss of paradise, the eternal treasure of the Hereafter, the land of eternal bliss, which is incomparable to anything else, and the loss of Allah's Jemal. May Allah protect us from these situations.

Verse 53 Verse 53 Then those who believe: "Are these the ones who swore with all their might that they were with you?" they will say. All their deeds have come to nothing. Have come to nothing, and they have become among the losers.
Allah Almighty: for those who go to the hereafter as non-Muslims, what they did, all that (?), has come to nothing. So the verses do not contradict each other; they confirm each other. Then those who believe: "Are these the ones who swore with all their might that they were with you?" they will say. So, Allah Almighty says, all their deeds have come to nothing and they have become among the losers. They have turned into a bankrupt merchant. Yes. In our earlier lessons we said that this world is a priceless blessing. O human! Make use of this blessing. Repent. Although every mind knows that there is no god other than Allah, from the whims of carnal feelings, from what Satan has given you — the (?) — free yourself and open your eyes.
In regret, to Allah, we say anyway. People of faith who pass on to the hereafter as such — those who were of Islam yet went over to the unbelievers, losing their faith — pointing them out to the unbelievers, to those who wronged their own selves will say this: "Are these the ones who swore with all their might that they were with you?" "In the world, out of fear of you, they took their places beside you and settled there," they will say. So all the fine deeds these people and the unbelievers did in the world have come to nothing. Because the person has gone as an unbeliever. Those who rebel against Allah and His Messenger, who do not fear Allah, who prefer the worldly life to the hereafter, are upon kufr.
People who are upon kufr and pass on to the hereafter without repenting have become among the losers. This loss is not a material loss in the worldly life. Indeed, the existence of the worldly life will one day come to an end. According to Allah Almighty's verse saying "the inheritance of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah", every soul will taste death and in the end these worlds will remain to Allah Almighty. So this loss is the loss of the incomparable eternal abode of happiness, of the hereafter's eternal treasure, Paradise, and of the beauty of Allah. May Allah protect us all from such states.
