Tafsir
O people! Allah (swt) in this verse informs us of the condition of those who do not believe in Allah and His Messenger, who seek a religion other than the religion of Islam which He has sent, who deny the resurrection after death, by giving examples from the past nations before them, and He informs us that those people who were destroyed by the calamities that befell them are waiting for something other than their painful days, and that when the painful days that befell the nations before them come upon them, they will not be able to escape from that painful torment. If you have any hope of being saved from this torment, you will come to Us with the burden of disbelief and rebellion, increasing your disbelief while you wait for the Savior you hope for. You will not find the savior you are waiting for.
While you are waiting for such a savior in this heedlessness, we are waiting for the day when He will come to you. (If We had seized you immediately for your sins, you would not have found a single living creature on the earth) According to the Qur'anic verse that says that people have a certain lifespan, and Allah, who makes them witnesses to themselves, thinks that their lifespan is long, and those who indulge in the fun and pleasure of the worldly life, when their lifespan is over and death comes suddenly, then they will be subjected to the torment of Hell, according to the Qur'anic verse that says, "What an evil place of return is that!
Allah, who is constantly trying to warn people, is free from all deficient attributes. He warns people in various ways, in language and metaphors that every human being understands. After that, it is man's own nature and what he earns.
What is said in the video
Verse 102: Do they await anything other than the like of the grievous days of the peoples who passed away before them? Say: wait then; surely I too am among those who wait with you, it says. O people! With this verse Allah Almighty, concerning those who do not believe in Allah and His Messenger, who seek a religion other than the religion of Islam He sent, who deny resurrection after death — giving examples of their state from the past communities before — whether they are waiting for anything other than the grievous days of the people destroyed by the calamities that befell them — that they are waiting; and that when those grievous days that befell the communities before befall them, they will not escape that grievous torment — this He makes known.
What does Allah Almighty say? He gives people examples from those of the past. The people of Lot, the people of Noah, the people of Thamud. Even though He destroyed them, even though He destroyed many peoples — O people, will you still deny My Self? Will you not take examples from these? And other than My destroying them, that grievous torment of theirs — if you deny Me, He says — are you waiting for some torment other than their grievous torment, He says. Yes.
If, to escape this torment, you have some hope, then, while within this hope you wait for the saviour you hoped for, if you increase the kufr you have committed and come into Our presence with the burden of kufr and rebellion, you will not find that saviour you are waiting for either. What is this?
Let us open up for you the meaning of our sentence. This is the counterpart of a verse. What does it say? If you have some hope of escaping this torment —
what is this hope? Waiting for the Lord of their imagination. It is the counterpart of the verse: they will not see their Lord.
They will not be able to see their Lord. Because there is no god but Allah. They will not be able to see their Lord. This verse symbolises tawhid. It symbolises La ilahe illallah. In this case, if you have some hope of being saved from this torment — that is: you denied Me; I gave you a part of My spirit; because you saw Me as like yourselves, you fell into pride and arrogance. You waited for the Lord of your imagination, He says. So: if you have some hope of escaping this torment, then, while within this hope you wait for the saviour you hoped for, if you increase the kufr you have committed and come into Our presence with the burden of kufr and rebellion, you will not find that saviour you are waiting for either.
Yes. They will not see their Lord. A sentence of mine is the counterpart of that verse. While you, in this heedlessness, wait for such a saviour, We too wait for the day you will come into Our presence. Had We seized you at once for the sins you have committed, you would not find a single living being walking the earth. According to the verse, within a set lifespan of people, Allah, who holds them as witnesses over themselves — thinking their lives long, they are deceived by the amusement and pleasures of worldly life.
When their life is complete and death suddenly comes upon them, then, according to the verse in which He says 'what an evil place of return it is', they become subject to the torment of Hell. So Allah, who constantly tries to warn people, is free of every deficient attribute. With a language and comparisons every person can understand, people in many different ways — Allah Almighty warns people with the comparisons they have given. After that it is the person's own chance and the return of what he has earned.
