Translation

“Or, the water of your garden might sink into the ground and you will not be able to find it.”

Tafsir

The other friend addressed his friend who was boasting about his wealth and said to him to turn him back to Allah and to make him trust in Allah and not in wealth and property: "You may see (the water of your vineyard sink to the bottom and you will never find it again), for Allah is all-powerful. He has wisdom in His property.

According to the narrations, these two friends were two brothers or two partners from Beni Israel. One of them was an Islamic man named Jehuza and the other was Katrus, who did not believe in Allah and the Hereafter. They divided between them eight thousand gold coins from their earnings. Katrus invested his share in property and possessions, while Jehuza gave his share to the needy for the sake of Allah. Allah (swt) gives this incident as an example to the people, saying that the wealth of this world is not to be trusted in, but in Allah (swt), who is the owner of all creation, and that every creation is in need of Allah (swt).

Verse 41 of Surah Al-Kahf: Or the water of your vineyard sinks deep, and you will never be able to find it again.

Addressing his friend who boasted of his wealth, the other friend, in order to turn him to Allah and make the man trust not in wealth and property but in Allah, says: you may find that the water of your vineyard sinks deep, and you will never find this water again. Because Allah has power over all things, He is the Possessor of wisdom in His dominion. According to the narrations, these two friends are two brothers or two partners from the Children of Israel. One was a Muslim named Yehuze, the other was Katrus, who did not believe in Allah and the Hereafter. They divided between them the eight thousand gold coins they had gained from their earnings.

Katrus invested his share in wealth and property. Yehuze, on the other hand, gave his own share as charity to those in need for Allah's sake. Allah Almighty shows this event between them to people as an example, declaring that worldly wealth cannot be trusted, that one can trust in Allah, who owns all His creatures, and that everything created stands in need of Allah, and so He gives this event, or this example.
