Translation

Possessions and sons are the ornaments of the worldly life. Righteous deeds, which are eternal, are better on the side of your Lord in terms of their goodness and better to hope for.

Tafsir

All creatures are servants of Allah. In the life of this world, children and wealth are an amusement and an adornment for people. These are all temporary. What is permanent is to earn Allah's pleasure by doing good deeds in this world. It is to build the Hereafter.

If people do what they do in this world for the sake of gaining Allah's pleasure, they live in the hope of Allah's mercy and put their hopes in Allah. This behavior will not be wasted in the sight of Allah. For Allah will repay every man according to what he has earned, without wronging anyone.

We also understand from this verse that whoever does good deeds in this world to earn Allah's pleasure by ruling by Allah's commands and prohibitions, and continues to obey and worship Allah, Allah will grant him salvation and place him in Paradise.

Verse 46. Surah Al-Kahf, verse 46: Wealth and sons are the adornment of the life of this world. But the everlasting good deeds are better with your Lord in reward and more worthy of hope.

All created beings are Allah's servants. In the life of this world, children and possessions are an amusement and adornment for people. All of these are temporary. What is lasting is earning Allah's pleasure by doing good deeds in the world. It is building up the abode of the hereafter. If people do the deeds of their worldly life to earn Allah's pleasure, they place their hope in Allah, living in the hope of attaining Allah's mercy. These deeds of theirs are not lost with Allah. Because Allah gives everyone the recompense of what they earned, without wronging anyone. From this verse we also understand that whoever, to earn Allah's pleasure, abides by Allah's commands and prohibitions in the life of this world and does good deeds, and keeps up obedience and worship of Allah, Allah brings this person to salvation and settles him in His paradise.
