Translation

Allah is the One Who has sent down water from the sky. There is a drink from it for you and plants for your animals can graze on.

Tafsir

Here Allah brings us a parable to use our intellect. By thinking with our minds, it helps us to know Allah, the Creator of this existence. Allah sent down water from the sky. He means the rains. The formation of rains is the condensation of heavy clouds of water when they encounter cold air layers, compress into water droplets and fall as rain. These rains could have poured down on our heads, not in the form of droplets, but like water flowing in streams. With His knowledge, He transforms them into drops and makes them rain as mercy. He has ensured that the water that condenses on the earth is kept on the earth permanently by the evaporation of the water that condenses on the earth as vapor and the return of the earth's diminished water back to the earth. Allah has created all this with knowledge. From this water, He meets the water needs of both human beings and the living creatures He created. It is also with this water that the grass, which is the sustenance of these living creatures, is brought into existence.

Now, if we think with a clear mind, all these events are taking place in an order and intimacy with a science. It is not possible for this event we call nature, this order that has no mind and no life, to happen by itself. Whoever says that this order is created by nature shows that such people are out of their minds. It is not possible for people of sound mind to believe what such people say. So Allah, who created this and established this order, wants us to find our Lord within our own will by exercising our intellect.

What is said in the video

Surah An-Nahl, verse 10: It is He who sends down water from the sky. From it you drink, there is drink, and also your animals, the plants on which you graze your animals.

Verse 10 of Surah An-Nahl: here Allah Almighty, that besides His essence, His essence, there is no other god, and that He gives life to His creatures, explains so beautifully. He sends down water from the sky. That is, the condensation of waters, their rising into the air as vapour, meeting the cold layer of air and there, as droplets, falling, sir, as mercy — surely this is by the knowledge and power of Allah Almighty; so that we use our intellect, Allah brings us a simile. By thinking with our intellect, Allah who created these beings we come to know; it helps us in this.

Yes, to our intellect, thinking, thinking with our intellect, it helps us to know Allah who created these beings. Allah sent down water from the sky. He means the rains. Rain forms when heavy layers of water meet cold layers of air, condense, are compressed into water droplets and fall as rain. These rains could have poured, not as droplets but like waters flowing from a stream, onto our heads down. With His knowledge He turns them into drops and as mercy rains them down. The water condensing on the earth flying off as vapour, and the world's lost water being returned to the world — that water always remains in the world, He has ensured this.

Allah created these with knowledge. From this water, both people and the living creatures He created have their water needs met. Also, the plants that are the sustenance of these living creatures, with this water He brings into being. What does Allah Almighty say? We created all living things from water, He says. From water. Yes.

Now, if we think with sound reason, all these events take place with knowledge, in order and regularity. That this order we call nature, which has no mind and no life, should come about by itself is not possible. Whoever says this order came about through nature, this shows that these people have something wrong with their minds. And for people of sound reason, believing what such people say is not possible. So Allah, who created this and set up this order, wills that, by putting our intellect to work, within our own will, we find our Lord; this is what He wills. He wills both that we find our Lord and that we know our Lord.
