Tafsir
Allah has sent down the Qur'an on a straight path so that you may frighten the disbelievers with a severe punishment from those who do not obey it.
If the verses of the Holy Qur'an had not been on the straight path, that is, on the straight path, if there had been any crookedness and distortion in it, people would have been justified in their own self-righteousness. Allah (swt) could not punish people who disobeyed Allah (swt) out of justice.
However, since there is no such distortion in the Qur'anic Verses and there are no inconsistent Verses, each and every Verse shows people the paths of guidance. It invites to salvation. It is because of their own desires, pride and arrogance that people deviate from the straight path of Allah and they are frightened of the punishment that will be given to the disbelievers in the Hereafter. Allah has sent down the Qur'an in a straight path so that you may give glad tidings of Paradise to the believers who do righteous deeds and obey Allah and the Qur'an.
(Surely for the believers there are good rewards) in this world they will find peace for their obedience to Allah and His Messenger and for their righteous deeds. And in the Hereafter, they will be rewarded by our Lord with a good reward, under the mercy of Allah (swt). This is the peace of people who believe in Allah and the Hereafter in this world and the mercy of Allah in the Hereafter.

Verse 2. Surah Al-Kahf, verse 2: We sent it down straight so that, with a severe punishment issuing from Him, it may warn the disbelievers, and give glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds as well. For them, without doubt, there are beautiful rewards. Allah Almighty sent down the Holy Quran upon a straight path so that those who do not obey this path, the disbelievers, He may warn with a severe punishment from Him. If the verses of the Holy Quran had not been upon sirat al-mustaqim, that is, upon a straight path, if there were crookedness and distortion in it, people, in ways that would side with their own nafs, would (?) the truth.
Allah Almighty, because of His justice, could not punish people who do not obey Allah. But since there is no such distortion in the Quran's verses, no verses that contradict one another, every verse shows people the paths of guidance. It is an invitation to salvation. It is that people who, through their own desires of the nafs, their pride and arrogance, from the path of Allah's friends depart, be warned with the punishment to be given to the disbelievers in the Hereafter. Also, that the believers who do righteous deeds and obey Allah and the Quran be warned with Paradise and Hell.
So that you may give the believers glad tidings of Paradise, Allah sent the Quran down upon a straight path. For the believers, without doubt, there are beautiful rewards. In this world, these rewards are that, for the righteous deeds they did by obeying Allah and His Messenger, they find peace. In the Hereafter, it is that, under Allah Almighty's mercy, our Lord rewards these people with a beautiful reward from Him. This is the peace in this world of people who believe in Allah and the Hereafter, and in the Hereafter their attaining Allah's mercy.
