Translation

Verily, in this Qur’an, We have given for mankind all kinds of examples. But mankind is most prone to arguing.

Tafsir

Allah (swt) has shed light in front of people with His Holy Qur'an. He has not refrained from bringing examples to people in a way that every human being can understand. On the Day of Reckoning in the Hereafter, people will say to Allah (swt): O Allah! Allah (swt) has brought examples in the Holy Qur'an according to the capacity of every human being, so that they would not say, "If you had sent the Holy Qur'an in a way that we could understand, or if you had given us examples in a way that we could understand, look how we would worship you".

(But it is man who is most fond of arguing.) Allah has left man free in his will. Man makes his own decisions with his own will. In this respect, every human being is a commander in his own right. As for the ego in human beings, as long as it is not reformed, because of ego, arrogance and pride, people argue with each other because they want to make others accept what they say, even if it is wrong, to make people accept that they are personal beings, to establish superiority and domination over them. People do not stop arguing with each other in order to make others accept what they say. These are the traits of an unreformed nafs that arise from its pride and enanimity in its own being, that is, from its ego.

What is said in the video

We have come to Surah Al-Kahf, verse 54. Indeed, in this Quran We have set out every kind of example for people. But the being most given to argument is man. What does Allah Almighty say in another verse too? With a mosquito or something greater, giving people a likeness, that is, an example, We never give up, He says. What does He say in this verse? Indeed, in the Quran We have set out every kind of example for people. Every kind of example, in a language everyone will understand, at a capacity of mind everyone will understand — He has shown people every kind of example. But the being most given to argument is man.

Because the feelings of the nafs never let a person consent to stand on Allah Almighty's side. Only his reason and faith bring people to some calm. But he still does not refrain from arguing. Allah Almighty, with the Quran, has held up a light before people. He has not refrained from giving people examples in a way every person will understand. So that in the Hereafter, on that Day of Reckoning, people would not say to Allah Almighty, O Allah, had You sent the Quran in a way we could understand, or given us, in a way we could understand, examples, see how we would have worshipped You — for this reason Allah Almighty has given examples with the Quran according to each person's capacity.

But the one most given to argument is man. Allah Almighty has left man free in his will. Man makes his own decisions with his own partial will. In this respect, every person is a commander in his own right. As for the nafs in man, as long as it is not reformed, because of ego, arrogance and pride, people — wanting, even if they are wrong, to make others accept what they themselves say, to make people accept that they are a personal being, to establish dominance over them with superiority — argue with one another. People do not refrain from arguing with each other to make others accept what they say.

So these are traits of an unreformed nafs, arising from the pride and egotism in its own being, that is, from its ego.
