Translation

Upon this, they walked. When they boarded the ship, he made holes in the ship. (Moses) said, “Did you make holes in it to make its people drown? Verily, you made something (whose loss is) great!”

Tafsir

Hadrat Hidr and Hadrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' became friends and after a long walk they boarded a ship. Hadrat Hidr 'alaihis-salâm' pierced the ship and it began to take water. When Hadrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' saw this, he said to Hadrat Khidr 'alaihis-salâm', "You have done a very bad deed. The reason he said this is that according to the Shari'ah ruling, it is not right for any human being to harm any human being for no reason. People who harm other people in this way for no reason are sinners. Since Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' was speaking according to the Shari'ah ruling, his promise to Hazrat Khidr 'alaihis-salâm' that he would be patient with him and that he would be patient with him cannot be a breach of promise. This is because Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' is also warning Khidr 'alaihis-salâm' with the justice of Allah. However, he was not to interfere with Khidr 'alaihis-salâm' in any way.

What is said in the video

"Thereupon they set out," it says, Surah Al-Kahf, 71st verse. Thereupon they set out. Finally, when they boarded the ship, that Khidr made a hole in the ship. He holed the ship. Moses: Did you hole it to drown its people? Truly, you have done something of great harm, he said. Because he does not know the end. Yes, Khidr (peace be upon him) Khidr and Moses (peace be upon him) become companions, and after quite a long walk they board a ship. (?) Khidr (peace be upon him) does not know this of his own accord; the ladunni knowledge was taught, but ladunni is actually not teaching; in ladunni knowledge comes the informing of the unseen, and informing of the unseen means this: before Allah Almighty, Khidr (peace be upon him) does not know the unseen so as to board the ship.

Allah Almighty says: Board such-and-such ship. The person wonders, of course. Why, O Allah? Because that, later on – that is His making ladunni knowledge known. Otherwise it is not knowledge. This event called ladunni knowledge is Allah Almighty informing the person in the deed he is to do. Informing him why he does it. Because (?) cannot bear it. What does it say? Further on, a king is seizing every ship. These are poor people, their living comes this way, these children's (?), let it be damaged so they do not take it. And Khidr (peace be upon him) is at ease too. But Moses does not know this.

This is the secret of ladunni knowledge. That is, Allah Almighty giving a person a command and him carrying it out, and that, since a person could not endure it, to Khidr (peace be upon him) too, the reason he does it is made known. That is, informing from the unseen. Now, in saints this appears in a very small measure. Like what? In the karamah of a saint. This, too, they call karamah. Allah Almighty informing a saint of a coming event, of things to come, and when that saint reaches that time, the word he spoke comes true. That, too, they call karamah. But directly, as one on duty, as Allah's servant on duty, go to such a place, do such a thing this way, go to such a place, do such a thing this way, telling him that – among people, because Allah Almighty, toward His servants, is merciful, and since He Himself will not appear before people and guide them, in His place sending a person. Just as Allah Almighty the prophets as Messengers, that is, as deputies in His place, sends to people and has His command explained to people.

The verses of Allah Almighty. And for Khidr (peace be upon him), too, to help people so they attain salvation. And informing him of why he does this work. Informing him. Yes. Now it is probably understood better.

What does it say? Verse 71, sir, there is something here too. Let us correct that as well.

Thereupon they set out; finally, when they boarded the ship, that Khidr made a hole in the ship. Moses: Did you hole it to drown its people? Truly, you have done something of great harm, he said. Khidr and Moses (peace be upon him) become companions, and after quite a long walk they board a ship. Khidr (peace be upon him) holes the ship and the ship starts taking in water. Seeing this, Moses (peace be upon him) told Khidr (peace be upon him): You have done a very bad thing, he said. The reason he spoke like this is that, according to the Sharia ruling, (?) and without reason it is not right for any person to harm any person.

People who harm those in front of them without reason in this way are sinners. Since Moses (peace be upon him) spoke according to the Sharia ruling, his promise to Khidr (peace be upon him), "you will find me patient", cannot count as anything like breaking his word. Because Moses (peace be upon him), too, is warning Khidr (peace be upon him) with Allah's justice. However, he was not to interfere with Khidr (peace be upon him) in any way.
