Translation

Then, he again followed a path.

Tafsir

After Zulqarnayn had conveyed the Truth to the people he had found at the edge of the ocean, he went on his way again. These travels of Zulqarnayn were certainly by the permission of Allah. It was not by his own command. Allah (swt) has appointed Zulqarnayn as a reason to inform people of His existence. Allah has already tied everything to causes. It is the journey of Zulqarnayn to inform the people of the existence and unity of Allah and that there is no god but Allah.

Verse 89 of Surah Al-Kahf.

Then he took a path. Again Dhul-Qarnayn, after conveying the truth to the people he found at the ocean's shore, took a path once more and set off. These journeys of Dhul-Qarnayn are surely by Allah's permission. They are not by his own command. So that he would make His existence known to people, Allah Almighty has, as a means, Dhul-Qarnayn charged with this task. Allah Almighty has, after all, bound everything to causes. So that Dhul-Qarnayn, as the means, makes known to people that there is no god but Allah, Allah's existence and oneness, what He had Dhul-Qarnayn make is a (?) journey. Yes. It is His having Dhul-Qarnayn make the journey.
