Translation

Upon this, We placed upon their ears covers for many years in that cave (We made them sleep).

Tafsir

Allah accepts the prayers of young people who make supplication to Him and puts a veil over their ears as an example to people. The meaning of the veil here is sleep. When a person falls asleep, he hears what is being said but cannot comprehend it because he is not awake. That is why Ashab-ı Kehf says that we put a veil over their ears for many years, and that we made these young people sleep in the cave for many years.

What is said in the video

11. Verse 11 of Surah Al-Kahf. "Thereupon We, in that cave, placed a veil over their ears for many years, We made them fall asleep," it says. Allah, who accepted the prayers of the young men who entreated Allah Almighty, so that it would be a lesson for people, places a veil over their ears. The meaning of the veil here is sleep. When a person falls asleep, since he is not conscious, he hears what is said, but cannot comprehend it. So His saying about the Companions of the Cave, "We placed a veil over their ears for many years," means His making these young men sleep in the cave for many years.
